Default Do You Have Sleep Problems? Sticky Poll

It seems these days almost everyone I talk with has some sort of problem with sleep, so I thought I would start a Poll. Thank You in advance for Participating...

The third option can't fall asleep or can't stay asleep means that almost all the time you have one problem or the other. Or both

I stopped sleeping regularly some time ago. It doesn't bother that much because I use it to do my self healing work and helping balance (clear). Which leaves me in bed a few extra hours is all. I just tell the people who are curious why it is because I am ill (sort of true ) or stretching extra hours (to get them off my case). Tricks of the mediator's trade.

I fall asleep quickly around 10pm then awake around 1:30am tossing and turning til 3-4am fall into a deep sleep and find it very hard to get up around 6am. This has been going on for the past 3-4 months. My dreams have been interupted as well. Perhaps the previous anticipation of 10/28/11 takes part of the insomnia blame however the current OWS and the coming of 11/9/11 and 11/11/11 are definitely a triple latte before bedtime.

Iʻve had severe insomnia for years so donʻt know if the recent fewer hours of sleep mean anything or not. I rarely sleep more than 5-6 hours a night the last few years.

Is this something that seems to be increasing for others? I read that about 60% of the US population have some problems sleeping each week and assume that it must be similar for ʻdevelopedʻ areas of the planet.

I wouldn't necessarily be concerned about sleep durations. Providing every other requirement and pursuit in life seems plausible or balanced.

For at least 10 years or so, 4 hours of deep sleep was plenty for me. Recently my average might be closer to 6 hours.

Long, long ago, i stopped believing in most of so called 'medical' authorities on this subject. (They just want to hook people on their drugs).

I have had irregular sleep patterns for years. I have a problem getting to sleep, though once I fall asleep, I sleep fairly well.
I tend to be a night owl, and I read once that people who are night owls are usually people who were born in the wee hours.
I was born at 2:55 AM, so that seems to tally up.
I have read that people who have Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and Thyroid problems (as I do) tend to have irregular sleep patterns.
I think another reason I am a night owl is I like to be up when most of the other people around me are asleep, as there isn't as much "disturbance in the Force" at those times.

waking up in the morning at 3-4 am is quite normal these last 4-5 months. i have heard it's due a creative energy coming through. i'm not sure, but sometimes i get up and start writing. which is very useful and creative.

also, 3/4 of my friends i have asked for there sleep time, they experienced also lots of disturbance. all around 3 - 4 a clock in the morning. (dutch time)

    greetings from holland.

Well said onawah - I have suffered with M.E. (Chronic Fatigue) for about fifteen years, although I put a lot of my sleep problems down to being a musician for many years i.e. working late and of course arriving home in the early hours of the morning since I have retired my sleep problem appears to be worse. I try to go to bed at a normal time (about midnight for me) but generally do not go to sleep for hours - in order not to disturb my wife's sleep I get up have a cup of tea for an hour or so and then drag my aching body back to bed. Last night was typical - I did not actually return to bed until 2:30 a.m. and rose at 7.00 a.m. this morning therefore I fall into the third category ...

Love and good sleeping to all. JP

P.S. I forgot to mention that I also take sleeping tablets but they may as well be sweets!

That was my MO, it changed very quickly Astrid, very quickly. I went from 9 hrs of sleep to 4 hrs a sleep, in less than a month or so.

I wonder if the reason some people are unable to sleep straight through the night, or can't get to sleep, is due to the anxiety and stress many people feel now. This sleeping problem seems to have gotten worse for many of us over the last few years. I don't get to sleep until 2:00 or 3:00 every night, and it's not unusual for my phone to ring at that hour because friends can't sleep either. I was always a night owl though and I get a lot of work accomplished late at night.

I sleep just fine between 6 and 9 hours - I just feel I came from a planet with 30-hour day as my rhythm totally doesn't seem to match the 24-hour cycle. And I also function best at night - like day is the best time to play and night is the best time to work (^__~ )

    My greatest hobby..................sleep, ahhhhhhh!
I tend to fall asleep on the sofa which is THE most deep and wonderful-feeling sleep, then I have to wake up to get into bed and when I do I sleep BUT I have a fitfull sleep and have the most amazing dreams.
Most good, some not so good.

May i add that some research-heavyweights point to the electromagnetic-device-energy which technological-nations proliferate today. Some humans are "sensitive" concerning this energy. Also dietary imbalances are more frequent today. All of this is fairly recent. (Largely influencing our world in the last 15 years, for the most part).

Unfortunately or else perhaps confrontation-ally, we need to determine if we are living in balance, with all things comprising our life. It is fine to postulate that positive-galactic-energy is helping our conditions. Sort of assert our self creation. Yet it may yet be advantageous to also assess our immunity to 50-60 hz pulses. Postulate or chant that "dirty power" noise passes us by, where we don't need it really. (Other measures can help with dirty power. Web search it.) Power of mind can develop in that direction. Likewise, we may do well to be sure our diets are functionally balanced, as well as suitable, in case we want to be resilient amid trying energy states.

Nope, I lay my head down and my wife can count to 30 and I am deeply asleep and remain so for hours while she of course stares at the ceiling and hears all the little noises around the house. It's highly irritating for her sometimes, but my mother always said I should be a mattress tester.

You are right I should have included that And- I guess that it could go in with option 4, but not really because too much sleep remains not quite in balance.

I guess another important aspect of this, is regardless how many hours we sleep (or not), is are we refreshed when we wake up. Umm Me??? Not so much. Most mornings I am more tired when I get up than when I go to bed. I am sure thats a commonality of people like myself who live with chronic fatigue.

People I have personally spoken with, it seems the magic hour is somewhere between 2 and 3: 30. Wake up, can't go back to sleep.

I myself am leaning toward the possibility of it being deliberate. Lets face it, there are cell towers withn 1 mile of almost every residential area in most populated areas.

"They" , along with all their other fancy toys, would benefit greatly with a sleep deprived populous. Not only are we walking zombies with taxed immune systems, but we are running to the "doctors", for an RX, because we are desparate for a good night sleep. Its a win-win for them.

ps..I usually get a nap around 2 p.m. for an hour- I usually can't sleep then either, but I get good rest.
