Default China, the U.S. and the Next Cold War

"President Obama flew from this weekend's APEC summit in Honolulu to Canberra, the Australian capital, to meet with Prime Minister Gillard on a range of bilateral issues. He is expected to give a speech on a "deepening of the alliance" between the two countries on Thursday, even as details begin to emerge about growing US/Australian military cooperation.

Find out what this means for increasingly turbulent Sino-American relations in this week's edition of Behind the Headlines."

I would consider the world lucky if US and China will only engage in a cold war. The last cold war had some pretense in it, if we were to believe certain rare disclosures. But this form of history will not repeat because we are passing through a new threshold of human history.
