Question Does voting effect change or do the so called elite get what they want each time?

So do you feel that voting in general elections changes things or do the people that think they are in charge get what they want each time?

I think the problem is the majority of people vote and then wash their hands of their governance. I find it is much more effective to vote, at all elections at all levels. Be active, by writing your representatives(I would say a written letter sent through the mail usually gets better authentic responses than emails). Calling them is good as well. I recently moved but my previous city council representative knew me by name as did the county representative. You don't have to yell to get your point across. Speak to them with the respect you would want and you will come back most times disappointed but still understanding the situation. Currently power is in two forms, Money and Numbers. Getting enough people to voice their opinion in an inconvienient way(not petitions but physical presence) will always get a response, and eventually a positive one. Lobbyists do this and are paid, but have no incentive other than their pay. Our incentive to do this is our quality of life now and for our children in the future.

One addendum your poll asks two conflicting questions as if they are one and only provides a yes or no response, which would be insufficient.

Hi, I will look you directly in your eyes and tell you wholeheartedly that I love you.

    Will you run, or reciprocate?

    Tricky one to answer.

    Does Voting change things? No
Do the elite get what they want every time? Yes

Tricky with a yes or no poll that one lol! Sorry for being picky Lochinvar.

You can vote red blue or yellow but each team is ran by the same old cretins.

    voting doesn't change anything.

It is an illusion that the people get to think they are in charge when they go to the ballot box.

It's a distraction and you give your power away to another person that you don't even know most of the time.

We know the consequences of doing that.

....and they charge you for it through tax. It's the very same point I made in the Ron Paul thread. (I believe Ron Paul to be someone who stands for all the right things. I like him).

I think they get what the want either way. We don't have any real choices do we? The American system has Dems or Reps and we have Lab, Tory, LIB/LAB. The voter may think they are making choices, that is the illusion. It's like a murderer asks you which way do you want to die, by the sword or the bullet. That's not a choice and neither do we have at an election. Simple. It's the same at local elections. No canvassing now you just go to booth and have 6 or so names as choices. We don't know if "Simson" is a man or a woman or what age they are. It could be an 18yr old or an 89 yr old. We may have noticed that Simson is Labour from the poster on a lamppost outside the polling station, but that's it. I am not really interested in voting on this poll.

Everything in life is geared to us externalising our own power... (example: even cellphones... we already know that thought is a physical thing; telepathy could be developed.. instead we externalise this power to a small eletric box & don't even consider trying to develope our selfs todo these things.)

Voting does nothing but waste your time and energy... the whole "sytem" is designed to keep you doing NOTHING (useful) & keep you distracted untill you die.

btw: this poll is worded so either answer is ambigous.

I don't believe that we can't change things. I just don't believe that voting changes things in most countries.

I might have said Yes years ago, but with voting machines knowingly compromised it seems it would take divine intervention to intercede.
Perhaps if all the Ron Paul Voters had a way to know how many voted in each district and could relay that for each state and then the entire country to keep government in check. (assuming you support him, and he can't or isn't already compromised)

    Force their hand.
    Make a real stand.
Assuming he could exact change for the better and avoid being murdered.

Centralized Governments would need to be dismantled or redesigned.

    Rather bleak outlook so far.
IS it possible to flourish in alignment with our creator as humanity?
