It doesn't look convincing to me at all. It "just looks" like a crashed airplane.

I guess I can see how it could be interpreted that way. It doesn't look much like an airplane wreck to me, but it does look a bit "unnatural".
But I'm also not qualified to analyze such photographs, and the plays of light and shadow can create many illusions, that said, there is no way of knowing.

Folks, it's a rock. There ARE extremely anomalous things on Mars, but this is not one of them.

The odds on the Mars Rover having landed next to an ancient plane crash, in clear view of its camera, are zillions to one. (Even if there ARE any ancient plane crashes!)

Here's a factor that enthusiastic photo-analysts often don't consider: that even if you landed (with your camera) in the middle of a rocky desert on Planet Earth, you might see all KINDS of shapes - but you would NOT see (all in one image) statues, snakes, animals, people, inscriptions, buildings, artifacts, forms of transport...

..... just rocks. Everything else is a Rorschach Test.

Even on Planet Earth, with 7 billion people, teeming with animals, plants and man's creations, most places you landed with your camera you'd see no signs of intelligent life at all. Just rocks or forest. You'd not even see much if you landed in the middle of a farmer's field!

Choose random co-ordinates on Google Earth, and see where you end up the first time you're not in the ocean (you should really try this). No-one can can expect to see multiple significant artifacts all in the same viewfinder of the Mars Rover.

ORBITAL images are a different matter. One is then looking at huge areas of the surface in high resolution, and (just as on Planet Earth) signs of intelligence are sure to be seen... and indeed, they are.

Speaking about anomalous things on Mars, I couldn't resist:
I came across these with Google Earth.
I realize that these may just be natural rock formation, but to my eye they certainly look like enourmous dragons in the landscape. I was amazed when I saw them. Perhaps, I am easily amazed...
Esepecially this top one has some interesting details (A type of crown, wings, eye in the right spot, another creature in his crotch...) there are more large dragon types in this one image, just rotate it, or check it out with Google Earth. Details below.


This second one might not be as clear, but it was the first one I spotted and he has this NASA photo all to himself (as if they took it to get a shot of him...yeah right)
