Patrick Geryl-Was visited by Mr Ryan also, and talks of horrendous events soon to fall on mankind. Is he a chicken little? Or may he be on to something? He also seemed to put his money where his mouth is..quit his job , and has been saving up to prepare for the worse. he feels only a small few will survive.

Two years ago, Patrick Geryl, then 51, quit his job as a laboratory worker for a French oil company. He'd saved up just enough money to last him until December 2012. After that, he thought, he wouldn't need it anyway.

Instead, Geryl, a soft-spoken man who had studied chemistry in his younger years, started preparing for the apocalypse. He founded a "survival group" for likeminded men and women, aimed at living through the catastrophe he knew was coming.

He started gathering materials necessary to survive — water purifiers, wheelbarrows (with spare tires), dust masks and vegetable seeds. His list of survival goods runs 11 pages long.

"You have to understand, there will be nothing, nothing left," Geryl told ABC News from his home in Antwerp, Belgium. "We will have to start an entire civilization from scratch."

That's because Geryl believes the world as we know it will end in 2012. He points to the ancient Maya cyclical calendars, the longest of which last renewed itself approximately 5,125 years ago and is set to end again, supposedly with catastrophic consequences, in 2012. He speaks of the ancient Egyptians, who, he claims, saw 2012 as a year of great change too. And he points to science: NASA predicts a sharp increase in the number of sunspots and sun flares for 2012, he said, sure to cause electrical failures and satellite disruptions.

All this adds up, Geryl said, to unprecedented catastrophe. First, a polar reversal will cause the north to become the south and the sun to rise in the west. Shattering earthquakes, massive tidal waves and simultaneous volcanic eruptions will follow. Nuclear reactors will melt, buildings will crumble, and a cloud of volcanic dust will block out the sun for 40 years. Only the prepared will survive, Geryl said, and not even all of them.

These may sound like the ravings of a madman, or perhaps the head of a small apocalyptic sect. But Geryl is not the only one who believes in the apocalypse. Thousands of people worldwide seem to be preparing, in one way or another, for the end of days in 2012. Survival groups exist in Europe, Canada and the United States. A simple Google search for "2012" and "the end of the world" brings up nearly 300,000 hits. And the video-sharing Web site YouTube hosts more than 65,000 clips informing and warning viewers about their fate in 2012.

I changed the title to something rather more balanced, accurate., and appropriate. The previous thread title was "Patrick Geryl-World is finsihed this year! 2012!!" [sic]. I agree fully that this title was not helpful.

I thought it was interesting that Bill and Kerry interviewed the guy! Surely if they didnt think their was one once of truth in what he was saying I doubt they would have wasted time talking with him, and just wrote him off as a nutjob.
Will the world end in 2012? I don't know, but one thing is clear around the last time of the galactic alignment it seemed that destroyed Atlantis. And what is interesting is those of Atlantis thought they were immune like humans today. After that they went from high tech to stone age...
I for one do not buy into the theory human kind will reach a higher spiritual realm in 2012..Thats folly.and wishfully thinking.man is degenerating not becoming more spiritual.
If any event happens say 2012 or 2512 I feel it will be a new ice age..a pole shift , and near complete destruction of mankind.
Atlantis was partially destroyed after the cataclysm of 21 February 21,312 BC. The north was buried under the Northpole in existence at that time (the circle gives the polar region). The Earth's poleshift of 27 July 9792 BC buried Atlantis (after the changes of the poles) completely under the Southpole!

Depends when they were built..If built earlier then 9000 BC most feel down like Puma Punku..which was near indestructible, and many do claim it fell due to some catastrophe on earth. As for the Great Pyramids of Giza..some claim they were built around 10,500 BC some take the conventional method of around 2000 BC. Seems though the really old sites indeed faced some sort of catastrophic event..You can read Graham Hancock Fingerprints of the Gods about this.

Yeah, he sure does seem extreme. But I am sure Bill and Kasey are clever people, and knew just what to expect from him, he has written books, and had a web site long before the interview. So i am sure they knew what they were getting into..and yet interviewed him. I am of the opinion that Bill and Kasey do expect something in 2012..and I think they are hopping for something good, but on the same-line maybe they think something bad could happen also. They are like detectives just tring to put together the case, and thus hear all sides of the story.
and..Maybe Bill Ryan does agree with him, because Patricks MAIN argument for 'end of the world' is solar flares..here is a quote from Bill Ryan>

With regard to all I've gleaned from several interesting "chats" with several interest friends, 2012-2014 will likely bring about strong solar activity. Though it is quite impossible to estimate the intensity and duration of such activity, there does seem to be rational concern among those well-informed.

Sorry, folks, but I've heard not a word about an ET rapture, messianic intervention, volcanic doomsday, or angelic ascension type scenario.

The solar activity problem might be the real one we'll be facing. Much of the rest is likely to be hype, paranoia, disinformation, or New Age belief.

It might be the real one we'll be facing because that's the one thing that we can't do anything about except take precautions and preventative measures.

Other events - at a geopolitical level - may be within our gift to influence and steer.

Yeah solar flares could be a problem, but only because they could hinder the technological infrastructure of the world. How people react to that is the main problem. If people react calmly, it won't be a problem, but if people react violently and 'reactionarily', then we will have a very hard time of it. Of course, such behaviour is a societal thing. We all need to be calm; one scared person can do the damage of a hundred people.

The present solar cycle is in fact the most underwhelming since World War II, It was so sluggish getting started that there was talk of a new Maunder minimum, and the last time I checked it was expected to peak next year instead of this. There could of course be a big solar flare, but that strikes me as highly unpredictable given such a low-intensity background.

In 1998 he was proved correct.
And in 2008 his theory that that there were galaxies in our universe that move at the speed of light was also proven right.

But I had an epiphany one night 3:00 in the morning . . . . in my own twisted little mind. . . . .what if the continents are shifting on the surface of the earth to keep aligned with the “north” of our solar system?

In the ancient stories and archeology the “dark rift” in the solar system is brought up over and over. . . . . what if as our orbit changes and rises above and below the galactic center and plane it causes our continents to shift and realign. Kind of like the needle in a compass. So therefore the ancient sites would still be aligned with the “true north” of the stars. . . . . . . Not only would this be happening on our planet but with all the planets and celestial bodies within our solar system.

Yes . . . yes . . I am aware this is a highly simplistic suggestion or thought . . . but sometimes the simplest answer is the most plausible.

Hey guys and gals,

Well, it´s just the beginning of the year and we already have a few posts like this here.

I guess things will get crazy while we approach December. This forum will get crazy (this is a prophecy) !

My advice here is to use discernment. There´s not a single factual evidence to back up such things.

For now, all these 2012 are 100% pure speculation.

End of the world prophecies have been around since the beginnings and it´s all the same thing...Doom, gloom...Nothing happens.

Personally, I don´t fall for it for a second.

I did a google search now many Christians are using the Mayans as a guide to the Rapture theory..odd they would be using Kukulakhan "who was the Mayans god...to support their own god Jehovah....So more less they are saying Dec 21st jesus will come back and take all his sheep to heaven..while the rest of humanity suffers on earth from fire 'volcano's', water 'floods' and Ice..then whats left of humanity will be seeking a savior and then the antichrist will come and be that.
Anyway Patrick says 80% sure that the world will have an 'event on Dec 21st 2012.' you find that snippet in the video I posted in the last post here on part 2.
