There's something not right with this story.

I'm surprised nobody has linked this to the alleged conspiracy story of an EMP attack on the "Carnival Splendor" just over a year ago.

In this instance it looks to me like the ship has been deliberately grounded in order to stop it going to the bottom.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/n...-disaster.html

In this day and age, with all the modern navigational aids, I find it incredulous that this could happen to a ship of this class.

There must be something more to this story.

To try and say this ship was diverted this much, so somebody could wave to somebody on shore is just plain silly.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special/wo...a_976in_v7.gif

and now we're getting the usual " The Captain was drunk " et al cock and bull stories.

Why, and more to the point, how has this ship managed to do a full 180 degree turn under these circumstances ?

It could have been a convenient diversion for Europe!

Well, at least here in Portugal it has been all over the first 15 min of news, on every national network since it happened (we have 3 channels that broadcast news at 20:00). Story so far, the Captain decided on his own to pass closer to shore in order to wave (??? it was already dark) to the people on the island. Their satellite reconnaissance systems was down (??? again, how can this be and the boat still navigate as if all was ok), and now we have people saying they saw the captain leaving the boat much before everybody else was able to reach a lifeboat.
The captain tells everyone he was the last, as well as his staff, to exit the boat.

I should have known it would be them ;-

Quote Italian Cruise Ship Reported Torpedoed By Iranian Submarine

By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers

A “flash” message received in the Kremlin today from the Northern Fleet Command, whose Russian Navy flotilla is in the Mediterranean Sea after having just left their Syrian port of call, reports that the anti-submarine ship Admiral Chabanenko has detected the firing of a torpedo having the “unmistakable signature” of one fired from a kilo-class submarine near Isola del Giglio a popular vacation island about 18 miles off the Italian Tuscan coast.

Within 10 minutes from the detection of this torpedo being fired, this “flash” message continues, a distress call was received from a cruise ship nearing the port of Isola del Giglio Costa named Costa Concordia [photo of sinking top left], and owned by owned by Genoa-based Costa Cruises, stating that it had been “attacked” and was in “immediate danger of capsizing.”

Reports from the London Telegraph about this attack state that the Costa Concordia’s passengers' dinner was “interrupted by a loud boom around 8 pm local time” with an initial announcement claiming that the ship was suffering an electrical failure, ordering everyone onboard to don life-jackets, and appearing to confirm this “flash” message of it being an attack.

The Northern Fleet Command further states that after the initial distress call from Costa Concordia it was ordered by the US Naval Air Station Sigonella (located in Sicily and known as “The Hub of the Med”) to cease open broadcasts and, instead, use NATO encrypted communications only. [Note: Due to past attacks on cruise liners carrying international passengers, all Western ships of this type are required to carry NATO encrypted radios.]

Most disturbing about this “flash” message, however, is its stating that the only known submarine currently suspected to be in the Mediterranean Sea is one, or possibly two, possessing kilo-class torpedoes belong to the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN).

"By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers"

What would the Iranians have to gain by that action?

Iran knows that sooner or later they'll be visited by their long lost friends the USA. I don't believe they will do ANYTHING to anticipate their coming. Also, I don't imagine this event scaling up to a false flag attack...

Well, have you thought about north African beavers? No, I didn't think so.

They are in the pay of J P Morgan.
Overnight they (the beavers) were expected build a bridge from Africa to Bulgaria, following instructions from the elite of JP: this, of course, would be ridiculous, as the beavers can't read maps.

J P Morgan and the rest of the Illuminati knew this, but did they care...NO! I wont go on, but just to let you know - nobody told the captain.

    Note to all...follow the money!

    Yours -a very interested on-looker,
    Tony

this takes half of every news on tv in italy and they don't talk about the sicilian people forming the "rake movement"(formed mainly by farmers) that will block all sicily for 5 days
i don't think it was a torpedo but indeed it is strange that with all the devices, they didn't see the rocks, and today they released the recording of the call between the captain of the ship and the coast guard chief and he left the ship before getting all the passenger off the boat, the coast guard chief yelled at him to get back on the boat and to coordinate the evacuation

Having been part of the world of aviation, that something this 'stupid' could happen is no surprise at all.

One story springs to mind of a small twin commuter here in aus, that crashed into the bass straight on its way from Melbourne to Tasmania. The pilot didn't refuel (or check fuel levels) plane runs out of fuel... everybody dead... brilliant.
(he didn't even ditch it... he stalled it (trying to glide to Tasmania???) and augured in, killing everyone on impact.)

Who was it who said something to the effect of 'never attribute to malice something that can adequately be explained by stupidity'?

Well if whales can beach themselves with their navigation system being out of sync then there is a possibility that the ships navigation system showed they were in a safe place when they were not.

Now this looks more like a torpedo impact.

No long scrapes here, and on the other side of the ship.
