You always need a good manual, especially here on this planet.

I will say a very, very thick book of poetry that contains at least some Robert Frost works.

But honestly, who needs books when there are such deeply interesting people around to read . . . and a story that never ends. (Perhaps a moderator from Sirius) :>))

In keeping with the intention and spirit of this thread, I will name The Explorer Race and the Next 50 Years, by Robert Shapiro. It gets into the feelings of a creator.

This is sooo tricky an uncensorred bible would be lovely, but chance would be a fine thing
I think maybe "This Other Eden" by Ben Elton cos I might just need a bit of light releif if some ***t stole all the books in the world

I would choose the Bible. I find peace and understanding in the Old and New Testament.
I was beginning to think that I would be by myself in this choice. Very pleased to see someone else with this choice. The King James version of the Bible for me. I don't usually refer to it as a "book", though. It is much, much more than that to those who have applied the wonderful truths contained in the Sacred Pages to their lives.

Even in the "satanic" attempts to pollute the Sacred Pages of the Bible, the Vatican has failed to eliminate the Gospel Message.

I know! The conditions were extremely harsh (I am looking at you, SeanTimberWolf ), which is reflected in my own choice.

Then again, by really, REALLY having to name only one, at least this won't degenerate into one of the myriad "favourite" lists that soon lose focus because people drag every single "favourite" thing, and their mother, into it.

The entire Earth's library on a Kindle that hasn't been invented yet (it has a plexi-like material simulating real paper and the feel of pages turning, I can't stand any of the readers, I don't like heat radiating on my soft tissue for hours at a time).

OK that's not a real book, I really liked this read, A New Breed, Satellite Terrorism in America, Dr. John Hall, he's not the most literary writer but I feel it exposes a looming future, one that's quite terrifying.

I could not just choose one book - but I'd probably choose my family photo album. I need to see my loved ones & nothing else would bring me more joy.

One book is not enough. Alas, the Bible is a compendium of books, so it cannot (theoretically) be chosen.

This is intriguing to say the least . . . few thoughts popped in my head. In the OP Sean said TPTB have theoretically taken over . . . . haven’t ‘they’ been in for the most part in control of the planet since recorded time? Whether ‘they’ are described as tptb, illuminati, reptilians etc . . . .

So from that premise you could argue all books and especially philosophical, religious, spiritual have been fundamentally influenced by ‘them’ . . . so why would we want to perpetuate that programming?

But in keeping with the OP topic . . . .I loved the Dune series too and have read them a couple times, as well as, the Enders Game series by Orson Scott Card. But, again these are books that reveal or address our downfalls of humanity and manipulations and programming of the ‘controllers’. So why perpetuate or dwell on these ideals?

And so . . . If I had to grab one book from my massive library it would be without hesitation, Carla Emory’s Encyclopedia of Country Living. It is over 1000 pages long and has everything one needs to be self sufficient and reliant. I refer to this book constantly.

I have learned over the years that my most profound thoughts and revelations have occurred while doing the most mundane tasks and chores. Also, assisting and be a part of babies (furry and non furry) being born and assisting and being a part of someone or something dying is hands down the most spiritual event I have ever had the privilege.

So, TPTB have taken over the world and banned all literature not approved by them and there cabal,

A very very thick book of empty pages and a pen. Ready to take in all my writing about all that I have thought, all that I know and all that I can come up with, including rudimentary instructions for manufacturing paper and setting up a book printing machine.
