Default Do you get sinus infections??????

Hey I will post a great reciepe that I have to cure sinus infections. This works great and never fails . I'm sure we all know what a Neti-pot is, just be sure to use sterile water. I add a mixture of essential oils to my neti-pot saline. The mixture is as follows. Equal parts of the following Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, and Roman Chamomile. I then twice as much of Jojoba carrier oil. So mixture is 15 drops each of the 4 essential oils and then 30 drops of Jojoba carrier oil. After this is perpare the mixture I add 2-4 drops to 1 cup of warm sterile saline in my Neti-pot. Then use the Neti-pot like normal. I have used this on a number of occasions and I find it works better than regular anti-biotics. There was a sinus infection that I was fighting this last december and anti-biotics were not helping, it may have been viral, I used this mixture and within 12 hours I felt fine. I will typically use this mix 3-4 times a day for about 4-5 days and it works great. I will say this, start slow maybe 1-2 drops it can be a bit of a shock the first times you do this. After a few days you will be able to increase the amount. It seems that since essential oils are anti-biotic, anti-viral, and anti-fungal it works on all sinus infections. I hope this will help anyone who has this trouble. Next time you get a sinus infection try this before you go to the doctor. I think you will surprised at how well it works!!!!!

    Love you all!!!

This is really interesting and I have made a note of your forumula. Until now I had no idea of what a neti pot was but have just searched the web! I have just had a horrible sinus infection following a cold and cleared it after a few days with steaming though it is a tedious process. I only take antibiotics as a last resort . Thank you for posting.

Even with just a saline solution, ( search engine will give the right water/salt proportions) a neti pot is an amazing tool. As an aromatherapist I have thought of using EO's and even Lugol's (iodine) solution. Since the saline has worked brilliantly I decided against experimentation. I am glad Solosthere has work with it and posted her formula. When it comes to deep seated sinus infections, getting that tea tree up there will really help with any kind of pathogen that might be culturing there. Many infections are spore induced fungal infections and tea tree is just fabulous against fungi. The eucalyptus will be very helpful with the thinning of the mucus, the actual home and food of any infection.

The neti pot also helps alot in getting the infected materail out of the sinus. I have actually had gross bloody puss stuff come out when it is real bad!!! However I dont do the nasa flossing or the gauze in the stomach like in India. LOL

I have never tried EO in my mixture which i imagine to be a very basic one. I have peppermint and tea tree oil but not sure if the teetree is an EO as such.

Would like to try it though..
Love. peace and Blessings to you all.

Another MMS protocol worth trying ,

2 drops of activated mms ....1:1ratio
hand over the glass to capture gasses
breathe in through your nose till you feel it bite

    # NEVER DO THIS WITH MORE THAT 2 ACTIVATED DROPS OF MMS

I do the nose and mouth breathing protocol every day "because i smoke" .........
My wife does it also because she has sinus and she says it helps quite a bit

Carmody,s suggestion above works well also .............cheers

There are two other ways but I really know nothing about either of them. One is an energy transfer type of device using two different metals and the other is called matrix healing. Both of those can cure it permanently. I know because I had a blocked sinus for years. Only know two people who know how to make the energy transfer device.

It is OK to treat a sinus infection, but what if simple dietary changes eliminated them altogether and you never need to treat one again? That is my experience. I used to be a victim of repeating sinus infections. At the time, I believed in doctors as a refuge of last resort, so I had an ENT (era nose and thoat) specialist helping me. After numerous infections he told me that he planned to schedule an invasive and dangerous surgery the next time I got an infection. His plan was to drill a hole from the roof of my mouth into the sinus cavity and implant a wire to prevent the hole from closing so there would be constant drainage(Ugh).

I was really motivated to cure myself NOW! I read everything I could get my hands on and discovered the following:
    (1) 97% of people of European decent are allergic to wheat and all its related grains
    (2) 87% of this same population is allergic to milk
    (3) 93% of this population is allergic to corn.

The main symptom of these allergies is sinus discharge and irritation.

I immediately eliminated all of these from my diet, and have never had another sinus infection. Since all of these damage the colon, this was good for my overall health and inflammatory level. I do not need a neti pot or a formula for sinus issues. I never have any issues to begin with.

I recommend you try this to see how it effects your sinus issues. I think you will be delighted.

Sinuses can be cleared of bacteria using xylitol sugar. There's a nasal spray named Xclear that contains it.

Most importantly, as Dawn stated, foods are often the culprit. Sinus and ear infections can most often be traced back to dairy products.

Default Re: Do you get sinus infections??????

Hey, this thread is great. I will never be disillusioned with the awesome power of a good neti pot :D.

Of course, the 'normal' fluids are isotonic and hypertonic saline solutions; sterilised water with either 1 teaspoon (iso) or 2-3 teaspoons of salt. I hear the hypertonic solution promotes moisturisation of the sinuses more efficiently than an isotonic solution, and it stands to reason that it is more disinfectant, but it's not a very comfortable solution to use lol.

Edit: I made a seriously stupid mistake in this post. Isotonic and hypertonic solutions are only true according to the ratio of salt and water. The amounts given above are for a pint of water; 1 teaspoon in a pint of sterilised water is isotonic (isotonic meaning the same tone or concentration as the body) and more than one (2-3) teaspoons in a pint of sterilised water is a hypertonic solution.

I love your recipe, and I'll definitely have to give it a go the next time. I too have used essential oils with my neti pot, though I often whisk them with an electric whisk or put them in a blender with the salt-water as a way of mixing the oil into the water thoroughly. The action breaks the oil into minute droplets and is a sort of mechanical emulsion. I always imagined that not doing it would leave all the oil in one nostril (lol!). My oil recipe uses a combination of myrrh oil (I've only ever had food grade oil, so I can't attest to the effectiveness of non-food-grade oil, but considering where it's going I'd say it might be a necessity) and lemon balm oil. Myrrh is very anti-sceptic, while lemon balm is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal so it's pretty much a miracle worker. All of that is in a base of almond oil (another oil the virtues of which I am thoroughly convinced).

Some people find lemon balm irritating on the skin. I never have in any concentration (in fact, I often have baths of lemon-balm tea) so if you try it on your skin and find it irritating, you might want to consider the practicality of flushing it through your sinuses. On the one hand, the irritation could increase the blood-flow to your sinuses and help clear up any infection, but on the other hand, it might just be down-right annoying.

Incidentally, I have recently started oiling my ears as a way of preventing ENT infection. My base oil of choice is and probably always will be almond oil, not least because of the high amounts of vitamin E but also just because it's almond! What could be better? Lol. What I've read when it comes to oiling the ears is that it's wise to oil the sinuses after using a neti pot because the flush of water can dehydrate them (hence I started to add oils to my solutions). That was how I came to trying it, though my sinuses had only ever been improved by the neti pot before that.

If you're into neti-potting, you might consider trying oiling your ears as a complimentary practice. The way it works, if you're not familiar with it, is a warm oil is dripped into the ear and allowed to drip through. You will know it's working because you'll feel the oil in the back of your mouth and probably smell it too. When I do it, I use the same as through my nose, i.e., lemon-balm and myrrh oil in a base of almond oil. Cold oil will feel a little uncomfortable as it passes through and also, being more viscous, will take longer to do so so warmer oil is generally a better idea. My little godson had an awful ear infection one day and was crying all night unable to sleep. A single treatment cleared up the ear infection.

To do it, lay on one side and drip the oil into the ear, wait fifteen minutes and then turn over and do the other ear and stay that way for another fifteen minutes. When I treated my little godson, I did the infected ear first for the immediate relief and then the second ear just to prevent any budding infection taking a hold there too. Being so young, he had no reason to suspect it wouldn't work and rather his trust made him believe it would. I'm not sure how it would work with adults who have all their cynical expectations, but if you're only doing your own ears, it doesn't really matter.

I hope it comes in useful for you. I know tea-tree oil is very anti-sceptic like myrrh oil, but I would never have thought of actually putting it up my nose. It certainly does clear the nasal passages, but it always seemed like the equivalent of putting boiling water up there. I'm certainly going to have to give your recipe a go now though :D

I snort my own 'fresh' best medicine off my palm if I ever have a vaguely block sinus... (most likely due to too much dairy or cheese which I rarely do, but it is tasty... Like Dawn mentioned I've not really suffered since I've changed my diet... Wheat is avoided quite strictly... cheese or dairy is a once in a while thing. The thing is when you avoid these things ... then do them, the mucoid build up is far more obvious and confirming that it is diet... and not viruses/infections...

    Yes,.. MMS!

Also, Yarrow. Seriously, for common-cold symptoms of any kind - this is all you need!

Marijuana for pain relief... (ingestion, of course.)

Ginger, astragalus, various mushrooms, honey, bee pollen, the list goes on and on. Combinations amplify the effects - adding any and all of these to your diet, right now, will go along way for prevention.

I have regular sinus issues (since going vegetarian (which is probably common....as it is often too low in protein for the human body....or so my Edgar Cayce book on remedies says), and yes the dairy/wheat and so on are probably issues too....still working on eliminating them from diet....as soon as I find replacements...that I will tolerate)....anyway, I did find a cure (of sorts...still have the underlying issues that keep bringing it back), in the same Edgar Cayce book and that is Glycothymoline (Amazon carries it). It is a mouth wash.

I use it topically, I soak a washcloth and hold it to my forehead/nose region (and cover a heating pad with a 2 1/2 gal. zip lock bag) with a heating pad in place over it for 20 to 40 minutes (40 is best). Works every time. For a long term infection try it for a week.
So if you have a cold and get sinus issue, do this (the cold goes away much easier). And of course, there are a variety of Chinese remedies to use for just sinus issues. One is Pe Min Kan Wan (pill or extract...pill is available on-line/stores that carry chinese herb....the extract you can purchase from Golden Lotus Herbs on-line). Used it for years. Works great. Stops an allergy attack in minutes (for me anyway.....and of course, if it is due to allergies (or even just a sinus issue), homeopathy works well too.

Probably saved my life this year (because I already have immune system issues ...long list of whys...I am getting colds every month now...).

I made the mistake of listening to a friend of mine a few years back and want to share this with you. Goldenseal is a great natural antibiotic but DO NOT try putting it up your nose because it will cause the worst instant headache you can imagine and will not get rid of your sinus infection that way. It will also make your eyes water really bad. I have never heard of a neti pot but will be investigating ASAP. Thanks for the info and I agree, alot of times there is a food allergy involved but it can take a lot of discipline to figure out what it is. I'm not quite there yet. Garlic is also an outstanding addition to staying healthy.

I don't use a neti pot, I use one of those plastic bottles that is designed to use instead of a neti pot, and I love it. But I don't have sinus infections, I do have allergies and have sleep apnea and use a face mask to sleep with -- sounds terrible, but helps a lot! I would never willingly give it up now -- and I have to be able to breathe through my nose for this to work. And if it doesn't work, I just don't get any real sleep, because of the apnea. And I have basic hay fever, I guess, and am allergic to dust.

So, sorry, that wasn't really my point. I am responding to what you said about allergies. I will admit I'm not sure I believe your allergy statistics, because people around me do not seem to be allergic to either wheat or corn, but I am now allergic to both. I do have celiac disease and gave up wheat a long time ago. But then I started getting sick when I wasn't eating wheat, and discovered that I had become allergic to corn as well, which apparently has a protein that resembles the wheat gluten protein, and thus can cause damage to your intestines as well.

By the way, the damage to the intestines only happens in people who have the gene for celiac disease, which means that the cells lining the small intestine are physically shaped in some way that resembles the wheat gluten, so that your antibodies that are meant to attack the wheat gluten also attack the lining of your intestines, thus impairing your ability to absorb nutrients. Same thing for corn, if that happens to you.

What is interesting is that this process is begun initially by inflammation that causes the lining of your intestines -- or actually the cells in the lining to spread apart a little bit, which then allows particles of what you have eaten, your food, to pass out of your intestines into your body, where they can then cause you to develop an allergy to them. I gather from this that normally, if your food stays in your intestines, you should not become allergic to it. But we do develop allergies to things we are exposed to in other ways, I realize that. So this leaves me with a question about that. But once again I have strayed from the point.

Now that I have a corn allergy, I have come to discover that as much wheat is out there in so many things, corn is MUCH WORSE and is in almost everything, as either corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, corn starch, or maltodextrin, which is made from corn. Even xanthan gum is derived from corn. Now I find I must go back to baking all my own bread and crackers (I haven't begun this again yet, just bought the stuff yesterday), which is a real drag. But the GF crackers I buy always seem to have enough gluten in them to make me sick. Or else they are made with corn starch!

And finally, my point is that did you know that there seems to be no commercially available baking powder that DOES NOT HAVE CORN STARCH????? I discovered this yesterday, and do not yet know what to do. It may be that there is an alternative way to make baking powder without corn starch. I haven't researched this yet. Maybe you know? Otherwise, I am just commiserating with a fellow-sufferer.

I have a very unsympathetic husband, who says he doesn't believe it would be at all difficult to give up wheat. Why do I complain? Or corn. But at the same time, when he shops he refuses to read labels. Basically, he is not very sympathetic to me, on the one hand, and then doesn't care enough to buy ingredients that won't make me sick, because he doesn't really believe it matters. (I know, I know... We are pretty much an estranged couple, but we share our house, and the upbringing of our daughter.) Excuse me for that, it was just complaining.... I had gotten him to agree to giving up all that I have to give up, for a period of time, but that was when he had had some wine. I suggested it as a way of learning what it was like for me, to walk a little bit it my shoes. He said yes at first, but then he reneged the next day.

The wheat nearly killed me, before I knew what was wrong. And I didn't have any sinus infections, I just lost weight no matter how much I ate and developed numerous vitamin deficiencies, and trembled all the time, with three different kinds of trembling associated with different vitamins I was deficient, mostly B vitamins. But there was something going on with calcium, vitamin D and magnesium as well that would cause me to tremble in daylight or fluorescent light. ANd tense up all over. But all that is gone now.... I think I was dying. Down to 90 pounds. Now I'm 180! Too much, I know, but can't do much about it with CFIDS and FM. can't burn energy, can't make it, actually, much less burn it, and absolutely cannot exercise. Don't get me started.

So, what was that all about? Baking powder that has no corn in it. Hard to find, but needed to make some baked goods, like maybe crackers, which I have a big hankering for, to put cheese on. Or tuna fish. Or humus. Or many things that may be good to eat on either bread or crackers. Have you run into this problem? And if so, have you solved it?

Sorry that was so long. I must have needed to ramble.

    The answer to my question:
    Corn-free, aluminum-free baking powder
    1/4 cup baking soda
    1/2 cup cream of tartar
    1/4 cup arrowroot

whisk together and use as regular baking powder.

Also, apparently something called Featherweight baking powder, which I haven't ever seen.... but which is made by Hain. So maybe Whole Foods has it.
