Default (SP)OIL executive son's powerful testimony last week...

"Get Up, Stand Up" - Don't give up the fight!

Lee Brain, son of an oil man, receives a standing ovation and brings a crowd to tears after delivering powerful & inspirational testimony in front of the Northern Gateway Pipeline Joint Review Panel in Prince Rupert on February 18, 2012.

His Father, who has installed countless oil wells in 35 countries, speaks 7 languages, and stands at the pinnacle of the OIL GAME.. sent his son to India for his first lesson in Big (SP)OIL. Big Mistake....

    Great speech!

It's obvious the female who interrupted a couple of times towards the end did not want him telling truths that might have been harmful to the company.

I am so impressed with this young man, I want to work with him. Who am I kidding, I'd marry the guy!

But you know what I found disturbing? It was a woman telling him to shut up.

This was good to hear - at the very least because it came from someone inside the system. If more people would speak up from inside the oil industry we may have a chance of moving forward. A few strategically placed insiders can have a greater effect than thousands of demonstrators.

I didn't see that at all. What I saw regarding the lady's interruption seemed like a was simply a reminder to stick to the procedure of the meeting - Just like U.S. congressmen have only so much time to make their point. I saw the boys' story of when he cracked his head open as a toddler ; along with the opinion-swaying rally-statement (which was referred to as "the argument" by the meetings' chairwoman), was- in fact- an innappropriate break in the meetings protocol.

I do commend his courage to take a stand (against his father?) - but since he obviously had ample time to develop his 4-page statement, I feel he should have been a little better prepared and created his statement to stay within the meetings timetable.

This is a very touchy issue in much of North America. The Sands Pipeline, the fracking in rural Midwest. I own property in Eastern Ohio, which has seen mineral rights go from $2.00 an acre just five years ago, to $5000.00 today.
Vertical wells are all but history. They don't even issue permits anymore... It's all horizontal now. They penetrate 2 miles away, then creep under your property, and send highly poisonous fracking concentrate, at "Space Shuttle" force, velocity, and hope that some gas or oil is relieved. In the end, all of the aquifers are corrupted. Home tap's spew flames.. In this economically savaged portion of the country, it is pretty much a "No-brainer" for an unemployed land owner to accept a lease on their mineral rights which can set them up for life, while those around them suffer. I filed a quitclaim this week to take my name off the deed...for me, that means one less melatonin each night.

Yeah a great speech indeed, and it would be good to hear him interviewed by either Bill or Kerry.

yes, but the real issue is that you are not even given the chance to OWN your land that you have a "Title" to... If you read the fine print, you are never given mineral rights (or any rights to the LAND), and you are listed as " a Tenant" on any mortgage papers.
