A special interview with Julian Assange by the Frontline Club on February 27, 2012 about the recent Wikileaks. It's only him being interviewed.

Somewhat interesting article regarding some of the emails as they pertain to Israel

    Wikileaks Global Intelligence Files: Israel

    February 28, 2012 9:56 am

The website WikiLeaks has begun releasing what it says are 5 million e-mails sent between July 2004 and late December 2011 from the private intelligence company Stratfor. The emails were obtained from a series of hacking attacks against Stratfor in December 2011, carried out by the online activist collective Anonymous.

Stratfor describes itself as a provider of “strategic intelligence on global business, economic, security and geopolitical affairs” and has about 300,000 subscribers. The Texas-based company has issued the following statement: “Some of the e-mails may be forged or altered to include inaccuracies; some may be authentic. We will not validate either. Nor will we explain the thinking that went into them. Having had our property stolen, we will not be victimized twice by submitting to questioning about them”.

The emails are part of what WikiLeaks calls “The Global Intelligence Files” and one of the first items released is a document titled “The Stratfor Glossary of Useful, Baffling and Strange Intelligence Terms” which was attached to an email sent by Stratfor CEO George Friedman in 2007.

The “glossary” contains some terms and definitions about U.S. government agencies, ranging from humorous to derogatory. The following terms are taken directly from the Stratfor e-mail sent out by Mr. Friedman:

    Clandestine:
Operation that has no open connection to anyone. Israeli maxim: “If you’re captured, we don’t know you. If you’re killed, we won’t bury you. So…don’t get captured and don’t get killed.” Clandestine is synonymous with suicidal.”
    Duplicitous little bastards:
    Israeli Intelligence
    Megawatt/Kilowatt:
Megawatt: Israeli term for CIA. Kilowatt: Israeli term for themselves. They don’t really mean it.
    Sigint and ELINT:
Signal intelligence and Electronic intelligence: from wiretaps to satellite intercepts. Usually expensive, dangerous and requires physical effort. Good first mission for BYM (bright young man). Suggest that he try planting a bug in the Israeli Embassy in order to get good first hand experience in ELINT. You can find him the next morning at the curb in a plastic garbage bag.
    Target—hard:
A tough target. A thirty year veteran of Israeli intelligence who has gone totally paranoid.
Approximately 3 months before the Gaza flotilla incident, Turkish prime minister, Erdoğan, was looking to “break with Israel and the United States”, according to an internal email conversation involving Stratfor CEO George Friedman and several Stratfor staff. The same email chain mentions that “Erdogan has made it clear to him that he plans to break with Israel at some point and reorient toward the Islamic world. He intends to be their leader.”

This email also mentions that former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believes that Israel will attack Iran.

George Friedman says “I believe the US will preempt. But there is no clear time line”,when replying to a question about a possible Israeli attack on Iran. Another Stratfor staff member states, “All my sources – regardless of factional affiliation – are convinced that Iran is preparing for war and one that will make the regime more stronger.”

An email dated November 14, 2011, refers to a deadly munitions blast at an Iranian Revolutionary Guards base. The email lists the following claim from a source: “The Israelis already destroyed all the Iranian nuclear infrastructure on the ground weeks ago. The current ‘let’s bomb Iran’ campaign was ordered by the EU leaders to divert the public attention from their at home financial problems.”

This was later clarified as: “Israeli commandos in collaboration with Kurd forces destroyed
few underground facilities mainly used for the Iranian defense and nuclear research projects.”

A different email dated July 21, 2011, refers to a source described as a former Pakistani intelligence officer. The source refers to “Pakistan bashing” and states “…covert and overt influence Israel enjoys through funding American congressmen and the control Israel has on American policies through coercion and fear of Jewish lobby.”

In another email dated November 17, 2010, a Stratfor staff member refers to former Spanish PM Azner as “…hardcore.. Way more extreme than even the Israeli officials I’ve heard speak.”

George Friedman has not resigned despite some media reports to the contrary.

WikiLeaks: Russia gave Israel Iranian codes

Latest round of leaks suggest Russia gave Israel codes to access Iran’s Tor- M1 air-defense systems.

Russia provided Israel security codes to access Iran’s Tor- M1 air-defense systems in exchange for an Israeli handover of codes to “hack” drones sold to Georgia, according to a leaked email from a private American intelligence company.

This is very revealing and why Julian Assange really doesn't want to go back to Sweden. It's for very good reason and the more that know about this the better.

'Well you're from the Expressen newspaper which fabricated an entire story, made it front page in four additional papers last week, and as a result, the foreign minister of Sweden has been on some defensive rampage against this organisation.

'Completely absurd. Sweden in relation to Carl Bildt is acting like a political kindergarten. It is totally absurd. And as a result, we simply do not answer questions to your organisation.

'As you know, your organisation works hand in hand with the Moderate Party, it is owned by the Bonniers - come on!'

In my view, there is also a high probability that the Swedish Government eventually will hand over Assange to USA.

It has happened before that the Swedish Government acted as puppets on a string when USA put some pressure on them...

I'll hold out on any conclusion about that right now. Have you checked out those 2 links I posted about the Swedish? How about the Australian Prime Minister? There is so much about to break in news about all the connections going on to Bradly Manning, controlling the internet and so much more that the goons aren't going to know what hit them. Also, here's an interesting article about cell phones and satellites and the internet. Satellites are getting hacked and it's scaring the bejesus out of many a corporate government official all over the globe. We live in very very interesting times and I love it.

Hacking satellite communications and possible implication

a couple of journalists were killed in Syria because of being tracked on their cell phones...it's all connected and why we need WikiLeaks.

It is a hoot. I am reading it a bit at a time. It is hard to not like the intelligence and dark, dry humor of Mr Friedman. Gordon DUff says his website VT is a more serious intelligence angency with better sources than Stratfor. I am inclined to agree with him. This Stratfor seems like a man trying to run a business, has clients that are paying him and is employing a fair amount of misfits, based on some conversations he has with his people in the field.

My observations, and Duff's as well as many other minds that I respect, see wikileaks as an Israeli asset, probably Mossad. I have no need or desire to debate my conviction about wikileaks. Disagree with me, but don't expect a reply on the subject. I do not care what other people think about a subject I have spent some real time looking at.

I was willing to give Assange a second look after all of the harassment he has suffered. He catches a lot of crap considering who he works for, but he looked fairly well dressed and relaxed at the conference and much of the news about this and that country or agency being after him is most likely disinfo theater for public consumption. I am sure the officers of Stratfor want him dragged behind a vehicle through glass strewn streets though.

Mr. Friedman seems to not be a big fan of the Israelis and he may actually be more of a 'patriot' than the whole of D.C. This would make him unpopular with the zionist entity and they would then put their nasty little asset, Assange, to work onto someone doing independent work that does not bend reality to the liking of Tel Aviv and the politicians they pay in the UK and USA.

    One of his gems:
    Quote Duplicitous little bastards:
    Israeli Intelligence
I think this Friedman guy may be a relatively decent man by political standards. I understand how low the bar is there. We are learning, over and over again, decency will not be tolerated by the Zio-Anglo-American axis. Friedman's enemies cast a far better light on him than I first thought. Please be discerning as to who is shining a light onto subjects for discussion. Almost everything is backward and 'upside down' and the opposite of what it seems, especially when it is big news. Even alternative big news because we are a target for being a little awake. Another thing detested by the elite: People who can smell them and hear them moving.

Recommended perusal. Link to the full glossary:http://wikileaks.org/IMG/pdf/The_Str...ence_Terms.pdf

Further evidence of secret US indictment of Julian Assange

Internal emails obtained from the US private intelligence firm Stratfor indicate that the Obama administration has had a secret indictment against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for more than 12 months. The emails, published by WikiLeaks this week, also point to the close involvement of the Australian Labor government and intelligence agencies in the operation against Assange, an Australian citizen.

The emails were sent by Fred Burton, Stratfor’s vice-president for counterterrorism and corporate security. Burton is a former Deputy Chief of the US Department of State’s counterterrorism division for the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). The DSS is playing a leading investigative role in the ongoing operation to extradite Assange to the US, where he would be tried under the Espionage Act of 1917 and could face the death penalty.

In January 2011, Burton revealed in Stratfor correspondence that a secret Grand Jury had issued an indictment: “Not for Pub—We have a sealed indictment on Assange. Pls protect.” According to Burton: “Assange is going to make a nice bride in prison. Screw the terrorist. He’ll be eating cat food forever.”

A few weeks earlier, following Assange’s release from a London jail, where he had been remanded as a result of a Swedish prosecutor’s arrest warrant, Burton told SkyNews: “extradition [to the US is] more and more likely.”

Burton’s emails indicate that the US government is employing the same “counter-terrorism” methods against WikiLeaks as against Al Qaeda, “Take down the money. Go after his infrastructure. The tools we are using to nail and de-construct Wiki are the same tools used to dismantle and track aQ [Al Qaeda],” he wrote.

Later Burton pointed to a relentless dirty tricks and destabilisation operation. “Ferreting out [Assange’s] confederates is also key. Find out what other disgruntled rogues inside the tent or outside [sic]. Pile on. Move him from country to country to face various charges for the next 25 years. But, seize everything he and his family own, to include every person linked to Wiki.”

The Stratfor emails undoubtedly reflect sentiments inside the Obama administration to exact revenge on Assange and destroy WikiLeaks for having exposed US war crimes all over the globe. These exposures began in April 2010, when WikiLeaks released a video of a massacre of civilians in Baghdad by a US attack helicopter. Since then the site has released thousands of documents detailing US killings of civilians and complicity in torture in Afghanistan and Iraq, and numerous other conspiracies carried out by Washington and its allies.

Burton’s emails help confirm earlier reports, dating back to December 2010, that a secret Grand Jury had been empanelled in Virginia, near Washington, to prepare a sealed indictment under the Espionage Act.

In the past, this reactionary law has mostly been used to prosecute government officials who make classified information available to foreign agents. Now it is being employed to blatantly censor publication of politically damaging information. In earlier periods, the Act was invoked to imprison American socialist presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs, execute Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for allegedly passing nuclear information to the Soviet Union, and prosecute Daniel Ellsberg for leaking the Pentagon Papers, which exposed the US war crimes in Vietnam.

Responding to the Stratfor disclosures, Assange said: “For over a year now, the US Attorney General Eric Holder has been conducting a ‘secret’ Grand Jury investigation into WikiLeaks. This neo-McCarthyist witch hunt against WikiLeaks may be Mr Holder’s defining legacy. Any student of American history knows that secret justice is no justice at all.”

The Stratfor correspondence makes clear the connection between Assange’s indictment and the imprisonment of alleged WikiLeaks source Private Bradley Manning. In an email to Stephen Feldhaus, Stratfor legal counsel, Burton remarked: “I look forward to Manning and Assange facing a bajillion-thousand counts [of espionage].”

Manning has been held in US military brigs for more than one and a half years, and subjected to months of solitary confinement, forced nakedness, sleep deprivation and other cruelties amounting to torture. This brutal treatment is aimed at forcing him into a plea bargain to help the US government’s case against Assange. Currently under house arrest in Britain, Assange is awaiting a decision in his UK Supreme Court appeal against extradition to Sweden on baseless sex charges, which could quickly lead to his extradition to the US.

Assange’s arrest, in December 2010, came just after WikiLeaks began publishing 251,287 leaked US embassy cables, the largest collection of confidential documents ever released into the public domain. WikiLeaks was subsequently subject to a block on financial donations by Visa, MasterCard and PayPal, forcing it to suspend its activities.

It is clear that Australian authorities, acting on the instructions of the Gillard government, are heavily involved in the conspiracy against Assange. In July 2010, Burton wrote to George Friedman, Stratfor CEO and founder: “We probably asked the ASIS [Australian Secret Intelligence Service] to monitor Wiki coms and email, after the soldier from Potomac [Manning] was nabbed. So, it’s reasonable to assume we probably already know who has done it. The delay could be figuring out how to declassify and use the Aussie intel on Wiki.”

Because of the widespread support for Assange in Australia and internationally, the Australian government has repeatedly denied any knowledge of his indictment. Yesterday, in parliament, the government’s Senate leader, Chris Evans, again stated: “I can tell you that the Australian government is not aware of any charges by the US government against Mr Assange.”

These denials fly in the face of the record. The Labor government publicly backed the persecution of Assange from the outset. In December 2010, Prime Minister Julia Gillard improperly declared the WikiLeaks publication of the US cables “illegal.” Without any legal basis, the then attorney-general, Robert McClelland, claimed that obtaining classified information was also an offence under Australian law. The government authorised an investigation, involving ASIS, the Australian Federal Police and other security agencies, to assist the US witch hunt.

The Labor government’s complicity in the drive to railroad the WikiLeaks founder to jail is entirely in line with its unequivocal alignment behind the Obama administration’s aggressive measures to confront China and other deemed threats to Washington’s geo-strategic and economic interests. Canberra’s involvement in the Assange operation is a piece with Gillard’s agreement to station US troops and host more US military planes, ships and submarines.

Assange and WikiLeaks are being pursued because their cable leaks have helped lay bare the criminal objectives and operations of US imperialism and its allies, including Australia, which stand in direct opposition to the interests and sentiments of the broad mass of the world’s population.

Default Re: Wikileaks Release: Over 5 million Stratfor.com emails leaked

Time for Government to Stand Ground and Protect Assange

    by Jennifer Robinson

WikiLeaks's latest release of confidential emails obtained from the US private intelligence firm Stratfor indicate the US Department of Justice has issued a secret, sealed indictment against Julian Assange. While the Department of Justice has refused to confirm the existence of the Assange indictment - it refuses to comment upon any alleged sealed indictment - the Stratfor email is the best confirmation we have of the long-stated concerns about the risk of Assange's extradition to the US to face criminal prosecution for his publishing activities with WikiLeaks.

The email was from Fred Burton, Stratfor's vice-president for counterterrorism and corporate security, and former deputy chief of the Department of State's counterterrorism division for the Diplomatic Security Service. On Australia Day last year, Burton revealed in internal Stratfor correspondence: ''Not for Pub - We have a sealed indictment on Assange. Pls protect.''

Following the announcement by the US Attorney-General, Eric Holder, of criminal investigation into Assange in December 2010, the US government has refused to give further comment on its plans to prosecute him. The grand jury is secret. Our appeals to military courts for access to the Bradley Manning proceedings were denied. The Australian government has consistently claimed to have no information from the US as to whether they will prosecute Assange and seek his extradition.

The question we must now ask: if a Texas private intelligence firm knew of the sealed indictment for more than a year - why doesn't our government? Did the government know? Was its denial of knowledge dishonest?

It is rather ironic, and an embarrassing indictment of the US-Australia alliance, if the Australian government learnt this information, as we have, through a WikiLeaks release. Indicting Assange represents a dramatic assault on the First Amendment, journalists and the public right to know. Assange, recently awarded the Walkley Award for most outstanding contribution to journalism, faces criminal prosecution - marking the first time a journalist has been prosecuted for allegedly receiving and publishing ''classified'' documents.

The Australian government must rectify the damage to its international reputation by our failure so far to acknowledge - and protect - our most celebrated journalist and be mindful of the impact it will have on free speech in Australia and around the world. The Prime Minster, Julia Gillard, has bent to US pressure on WikiLeaks and wrongfully accused an Australian citizen of illegal conduct, and the former attorney-general Robert McClelland pondered cancelling Assange's passport but Kevin Rudd, as foreign minister, told the pair to back off. He may be on the backbench now, but Rudd was right.

The correct legal analysis, provided by other lawyers in Parliament, Malcolm Turnbull and the shadow attorney-general George Brandis, SC, is that publication of classified material of foreign powers - even friendly ones - is not a crime in Australia; nor is it a crime in the US. That is also the legal advice of the Australian Federal Police, who concluded Assange had committed no crime here. Prominent academics in the US agree Assange is entitled to the protections of the First Amendment.

But any constitutional challenge for Assange will come years down the track. The Stratfor emails disclose a strategy: ''move him from country to country to face various charges for the next 25 years'' and ''[bankrupt] the asshole first … ruin his life. Give him 7-12 years for conspiracy''.

What happens to Assange in the US in the meantime? We need only look to the treatment of WikiLeaks's alleged source, Manning, who has been kept in degrading conditions, including solitary confinement, for more than 18 months pending trial. According to Burton, in another Stratfor email disclosed yesterday: ''Assange is going to make a nice bride in prison. Screw the terrorist. He'll be eating cat food forever.''

The Australian government must learn from its mistakes in the David Hicks case and act now. Assange is an Australian citizen and we must protect him, and protect our country from international condemnation for our failure to act, knowing the treatment Assange will receive in the US.

National sovereignty and the protection of Australians abroad have so far been sacrificed to US interests in this case. A real friend of the US will, at times, criticise, as all friends must. Australia must ask serious questions of the US about its plans to prosecute Assange. Australia should exercise diplomatic protection and seek undertakings regarding his treatment. Assange deserves the protection any of us as Australian citizens deserve. What if it were your son or brother or friend? Would you feel satisfied with our government's response?

In the case of Schapelle Corby, the former attorney-general Philip Ruddock sent senior lawyers to Indonesia on our government's behalf to arrange her defence. They said, ''the fact is, she is an Australian national in trouble overseas, and the consequences are extremely severe, so there just wasn't any hesitation''. Assange is surely as worthy of our protection as the ''Bali boy'' who, having admitted drug possession, received a phone call from Ms Gillard and the highest level of consular assistance. Assange has not received anywhere near that support. Quite the opposite.

Whether or not the government knew before, it certainly knows now. The Prime Minister, the Attorney-General and the new foreign minister must take action. Nicola Roxon, the Attorney-General, campaigned hard in opposition to bring Hicks home, urging the Howard government ''to take urgent action to protect this Australian citizen they have so far neglected for such a long period of time''. She has so far remained silent. But if she can go into bat for Hicks, she can go into bat for Assange. The government must protect Assange, not just because of who he is, but because he is Australian. And, as the Stratfor emails confirm, an Australian is at risk.
