Black Parents Shocked to Give Birth to White Baby Girl

A black couple living in the U.K. were shocked by the birth of a
blonde haired, blue-eyed girl.

Ben Ihegboro must have briefly questioned his wife Angela's fidelity
after the birth of Nmachi, and he conceded: “We both just sat there
after the birth staring at her”.

As there is no known mixed-race background in either of the parents'
families, geneticists are baffled by the newborn's surprise
appearance.

Nmachi is the couple's third child, with Dumebi, 2, and Chisom, 4,
each bearing a strong resemblance to their parents. Doctors rejected
the possibility of the baby being albino. The real cause is unknown,
with the only explanation being a "genetic quirk." (See pictures of
the first years of four babies.)

Professor Bryan Sykes, head of human genetics at Oxford University,
described the birth as "extraordinary," telling The Sun that for the
baby to be completely white, both Ben and Angela would need to have
"some form of white ancestry.'" The explanation for this lies in that
mixed-race women carry some eggs containing genes for white skin and
others for black; similarly men carry the same range of genes in their

Professor Sykes commented: "The hair is extremely unusual. Even many
blonde children don't have blonde hair like this at birth."

Ben said that his son Chisom "keeps coming to look at his sister and
then sits down looking puzzled."

Assuming the story is legitimate, I do wonder if there was some genetic experimentation going on here. I'll see if it crops up anywhere else.

I have a very dear Polinesian friend who has, as well as all of her 4 children, a rich milk-chocolate colored skin. YET, she has told me more than once that her children, as if it were quite normal for her, were white as snow when they were just born. Only after a few days after birth do they turn, in her words, "normal".

I was not a witness to this color change in her children, but I found it interesting everytime she would tell the tale, laughing and swearing it was true of the Polinesian peoples.

I can understand why she'd say the polynesian skin tone was normal, it's her skin tone, the one she's most used to, and more importantly it's what one would expect in a polynesian child (at least I would), so anything else, anything out of the ordinary, is not normal... I would say

And THAT is exactly the point! For my friend Carol, it is normal to her that the newborns be "white" at birth. Can anyone else verify this as normal or abnormal? Maybe the article is playing once again on folks' ignorance of the "nature" of things....??? I sure wouldn't know as i have never witnessed it, but that doesn't mean that what my friend knows is not true, right?

My daughter was born with a large bluish patch, discoloration on her backside(buttock). The doctor said it was not that uncommon and would fade in 6 months, which it did. He said it had to do with a Black ancestor somewhere back in our family tree.
I did not buy that fairy tale, so I did some researching and found that my Hungarian lineage is to blame. Seems that the cause is the Mongol bloodlines mixed with the Hungarian. I found that this discoloration is most prevalent in Spain and Portugal and parts of France. I'm going by memory here, it has been 25 years since my daughter was born.
I always thought that was an interesting bit of trivia.
Can anyone support this claim?

This is not the first time this has happened. There made a movie about it that premiered in LA maybe two years ago. It was called Skin.

I lived next door in San Antonio to a family of very light skin elegant blacks. They had three children, two boys and then a girl. The girl was so dark she was almost purple. I can tell you that this seemed to make their life very difficult.

There are alot of strange things that happen with Genetics. I am O positive, My husband is B positive. Son#1 is O positive, Son#2 is A Negative. Son#3 is B positive, Son #4 & #5 are both O Negative.
