Default UMKA - What do you think?

I just finished watching a one hour video called "Window To Space" about the UMAK propoal
(an artificial international Arctic city within a biosphere)

It's full of thought provoking information MANY topics worthy of discussion here PRO and CON

Please give it a watch (link below) - I'm Glad I Did, there's Lots To Consider

    Some of the many points of discussion are;

. Planetary recovery plans through international relations

. The UMKA biosphere proposal for Arctic development as first steps to moon based civilization

. What about moon based civilization?? Is that our first step to a galatic presence?

. Do bases ALREADY exist on the moon? These descriptions sound familiar?

. Can humanity actually co-exist within a biosphere/biodome situation for considerable lengths of time
(biosphere experiments of past have proven less than hopeful in this regard)

. Should ANY plans for humanity continue if based on NUCLEAR power?? Can we afford to wait?

. Is this a ploy to hasten the accessibility to northern natural resources?

. Is it naive to think that the north won't be targeted for it's resources especially by countries who have the right to exploit their own resources, and need the dollars?

. Should there be monetary compensation to leave the north untouched - not unlike the carbon tax theory?

. Is water distribution & watercourse manipulation a recipe for disaster (it occurs in many current "global civilization" models -

. What about NAWAPA - should man continue manipulating the environment & weather?

Many more issues come to mind: it's a huge and timely topic ..

Please, dear friends, use your discernment.

The video has a few superficial good ideas... BUT...

Overall, it is repetitive, brainwashing propaganda using highly emotive language, including techno-babble such as "energy flux density", and fear-mongering stories of economic and social decline (that "they" created by their policies) to distract us from the political BULLSH*T they are trying to convince us of.

They are pushing a dangerous, destructive, stupid, greed-based growth for growth's sake model which is already crumbling worldwide. The last 5 minutes of the movie is a political speech, again using highly emotive and divisive language.

The northern hemisphere has been almost totally destroyed by humans. Those plans will complete the destruction. Humans who think like those people are a malignant cancer on this Earth.

Nuclear power in the arctic is insane. It is an accident waiting to happen.

NAWAPA is insane. The fresh water that flows into the arctic is NOT "wasted". That kind of thinking is shallow and incredibly dangerous. Everything we do has consequences.

What would the environmental consequences be, in both the arctic and the south, if 20% of the water flowing into the arctic ocean is diverted to the deserts in central and southern North America? NAWAPA would have massive consequences in both the arctic and the south. What about the un-intended global climate consequences of moving all that water from the arctic to the deserts in the mid-latitudes?

Who stands to gain most from it? The bankers and oil companies. Greed - just DON'T do it. Say no to NAWAPA.

I don't even live in the northern hemisphere, so I have no political bias. I just don't want those greedy bastards to destroy the Earth even more than they have already.

We need to fix the problems of the world within our current cities and developed (destroyed) regions. We don't need to destroy the most fragile and pristine environments left in the world in the name of growth and greed. We need to practice and perfect environmental and social responsibility before we as a species destroy other parts of this planet or venture to other planets.

Did anyone notice the smog and brown ice in those once-pristine places? Imagine how dirty it will become if we add another 50 million or more people in the arctic region.

We do NOT need NAWAPA to green the desert. Permaculture can green the desert easily and cheaply, using nature and low-technology and without the massively destructive and massively expensive geo-engineering.

    G'day Cjay,

Couldn't agree with you any more if I tried.
    Kind Regards,
