Default Eisenhower warned us of the military industrial complex

In his farewell speech, President Eisenhower warned of the
military industrial complex's potential for influence on American politics.

Total cost of war in Iraq & Afghanistan since 2001:
    $ 1,309,572,379,053 http://costofwar.com/en/

With all the economic turmoil in the world right now ??

All started with 9/11 and the search for Weapons of Mass Destruction.
I think they are still looking

Imo a good one to show other people there is something wrong in the
world. But they will probably say: "There have always been wars" or
"I can't do anything about it" or "World Peace is an illusion".

As Allied supreme commander appointed in Europe feb 1944 for the planning and overseeing of the the invasion of France D Day and
would go on to become the first Allied supreme commander of NATO .....So of all the Presidents he saw the growth of the military
ind complex and witnessed it getting out of hand and beyond political remit, as many contracts were given to corporation outside
government control and with acceleration of the arms race during Korea and the cold wars , the role of President was being by
passed by outside interrests.....Eisenhower was also aledgedly deeply invovled with the ET cover up and is supposed to have
met with ET's at Holoman airbase, so if anyone was in the know it would have been 'Icke' .....

All wars and coverups since seem to be part of a bigger agenda as we speculate on here...It has never made sence while we
cannot make peace permanent around the world....It should be easy !! If everyone in the world met each other for dinner,
at a bar, beach or where ever , very few would want to kill each other unless provoked or agitated into doing so by some
third party or rogue disturbed personality. Of course there is crime and murder but that is minute and could be controlled
if war was abolished, which is not a fantasy but well within the grasp of humanity if there were proper leadership from
real humanbeings...Thats the problem as another 'Icke' would say... David....Who the hell is running the world !!!!

    G'day All,

C Wright Mills wrote a book in 1956 titled 'The Power Elite' and it covers his insights into the rise of the 'military-industrial complex' and the associated mental perspective that he termed 'military metaphysics'.
Here are some further readings that might be of interest.

Actually it was the Military industrial congressional complex....this is important....

Congress was also apart of such a huge buildup of military might....it does not lay in the hands of the makers of weapons only.

    G'day thunder24,

I agree that the level of integration between the the private and public sector is ridiculous and that the basis of much of the worlds economy is around the war machine and, as best as I know, that in the US Congress is a major part of that connection in the US...

In regards to Eisenhower's speech: I thought for quite awhile that he had intended to mention congress and only dropped it at the last minute. I then found out that it was only one of many alternatives that were added after the fact. You're correct in what you're saying of course, just Eisenhower didn't include it and there is no actual evidence that he intended to include it in his speech outside of a biographer saying he did.

The article 'James Ledbetter on 50 Years of the “Military-Industrial Complex”' that I mentioned above covers the rumour and how it came about:
Quote Perhaps the most stubborn misconception about the phrase is that it began life with an attached third term that was excised prior to the speech’s delivery on Jan. 17, 1961. Eisenhower biographer Geoffrey Perret wrote that Eisenhower “originally intended to include Congress in this indictment and deliver a blast at the ‘military-industrial-congressional complex.’ At the last minute, he struck out ‘congressional.’” By contrast, historian Douglas Brinkley tells us that the phrase was originally “military-industrial-scientific complex,” but that Eisenhower’s science advisor James Killian advised the president to change it.

The historical evidence for both claims is essentially nil. Killian’s memoir, for example, discusses the speech, but never mentions any objections to its proposed content, nor even hint that Killian saw the speech prior to its delivery; neither did Killian bring this up in the archival oral history. While we may never know exactly who had or changed what idea prior to the speech’s delivery, there is no extant draft of the speech that contains any other version of the phrase except the one we know today.

Moreover, a speechwriter staff memorandum [PDF] dated Oct. 31, 1960 — before the speech had been drafted — referred to the “war based industrial complex,” very close to the phrase Eisenhower eventually said out loud. It seems unlikely that an additional term would be added to, and then subtracted from, that concept while leaving no trace in any of the existing drafts. At a minimum, if any change to the speech’s central phrase was made, it was not “at the last minute”; the Eisenhower Library has posted online a draft of the speech dated nearly a month before it was delivered [PDF], and the phrase military-industrial complex is intact, just as in every other draft.

Why the persistent belief in a phantom missing term? Both are very plausible extensions of the speech’s central theme. While Congress is not explicitly a target in the farewell address, Congressional complicity in the malign influence of the military-industrial complex was very much in the minds of the Eisenhower brain trust. Similarly, a major section of the speech does indeed warn about the dangers of scientific research becoming too large and too government-directed. In a way, the mythical third term is a tribute to the scary strength of Eisenhower’s thought and the eloquence of its expression; people want to believe the phrase was longer because the idea itself seems so far-reaching.
Just thought I'd mention that bit of trivia for anyone who was interested.
    Kind Regards,

And then there is the psychological cost of war, and the death and destruction.
We can grow in wisdom and promote positive peaceful interaction with others, or we can continue to foster the worst of human nature.

Unfortunately the PTB who rule the planet are psychopaths who have no compassion. The golden rule won't work for them. That part of their brains doesn't work. Tests exist now to determine if that part of the brain isn't working. So skip the expensive trials, give them the test, ship them to FEMA camps and chemtrail the area until they admit what the crap is in chemtrails and what the antidote is.

What really annoys me is that stupid adage bandied around by people as though it's some profound wisdom "if you want peace, prepare for war". That's right, just toil away building your weapons and peace will work itself out.

It's like they say: what if there was a war and nobody turned up? What if there was a war and nobody had any weapons?
