I'm a beekeeper myself, Scanner......bee losses are down from about 15 years ago but losses still run on average 30% per year... it's not just Bayer that's the problem, on a large scale it's Monsanto and on a small scale it's the neighborhood farmer/gardner/ lawn lover who use pesticides indiscriminately. Thanks for your concern....you're absolutely right, without bees for pollination food will become more scarce and food prices will soar.

Hi Scanner -- there was another bee killing thread a bit before yours so maybe that's why no immediate response--

i wouldn't exactly say i'm 'worried' about the bees --

i'm 65 yrs old, & i have had to watch almost all the Humans around me taking part in the destruction of their planet my whole life, by the choices they made in what food, cleaning products, etc etc they buy -- i remember in southern New Jersey as a child in the '50s [that really horrible decade of conformity in my country] that they sprayed the whole small town i lived in w/DDT -- my mother was freaking out -- brought us all in & locked the doors & windows -- but the other kids in the neighborhood were having fun running behind the truck in the DDT spray

i've cried in a lot of pain any number of times for what we are doing to this beautiful planet , & i have told her i am so, so sorry --

i've seen what was once blue skies -- really blue -- & white clouds turn into the mess up there now -- i've seen the fireflies & birds grow fewer & fewer every year -- i've seen my beloved oceans get dirty, w/tar washing up on what used to be white beaches -- etc etc

i also know that petitions don't seem to do any good -- TPTB don't listen -- i've been an activist all my life , & i know what i'm saying -- i remember right before 'Shock & Awe', the White House & Senate & Congressional phone lines were FLOODED w/citizens calling to say NO to the war --

thands I signed both petition. This is the insect that allows the planet to have fruits and veges. Without them no food. This is very important and has been proven that these pesticides are the causative factor in catastrophic bees death worldwide.

not directing this at you personally, Flash -- but i'm trying to say that petitions don't do any good -- '24 hours to save the bees'--??? -- in 24 hours, suddenly we are going to have a massive & magical removal of all poisons from the air, earth, & water? -- that's the only way you are going to 'save the bees' -- this planet is so toxic at this point that banning one little chemical is not going to make a bit of difference

If I didn't try to stop this , how could I look my kids/grandkids in the face and tell them "I knew about this, but thought what can I do , so I did nothing" what would they think of their dad / pops . If I could save the World my friend I would. I'm just 1 man trying to make a difference . This petition may not stop the bees from dieing off , but at least I tried . I would do the same for any being on this planet , including you
