Krishnamutri clearly stands in a class of his own! I was exposed to him, surprisingly enough, by my high school history teacher! I was that kid that always had questions after class, not about what was being taught in class, but, rather why, and how do you know this to be true! They never quite liked (any of my teachers,) me asking these sorts of questions and being challenged in front of the other students! So naturally they would say, "meet me after class" or "go to the principle's office"! LOL!

So you can feature a time frame, this was in the late 90's. Until one day, as I was approaching my teacher after class, I could feel his energy of frustration as I came closer to his desk! He said "don't say a word and read this, then ask me questions after you are through!" Wow, for once I was a speechless! I did just that! In a few days, when I had completed my task, and i gave him the book back, he says,"well, what type of questions do you have for me now?" I say, "none for you!" He was astonished! His reply was, "what are your thoughts?" I quickly replied with, "this is reasonable and very practical information, and it seems that I have been asking all the right questions to all the wrong people!" He began to laugh and agreed with me, then says "does this mean that you won't have any questions for me in the future?" My reply was, "of course not, why would I, after reading something as profound as this?" He laughs again, then says, "mission accomplished!" I hugged him and said thank you! Btw, the book was a compiled arrangement of lectures from all around the world on many topics, with a brief bio in the beginning.
Pardon me for not using a conversation format here to describe this. Apologies!

Now in my adult life, I have his perspectives running through my mind all the time and can apply it to all things in life! Jorr, much gratitude for this thread! I have always enjoyed all of your posts and threads my friend! Many thanks to all for reading! Didn't mean to be so long winded! LOL! How could I not be though! It's Krishnamutri!

I was present at a meeting between U.G. and about ten of us in my city in the early 90s. Firstly, let me explain that I came there primarily to experience U.G.’s consciousness/awareness in a direct way. I could this by (silently) “being one with” him in a certain deep way. It had taken me the equivalent of a number of full-time years’ worth of work to learn to master this “skill”. One thing it involves is temporarily letting go of and totally giving up one’s own identity or sense of self, so that temporarily there is no distinction between the two of you.

What I came away with was a very profound psychological and spiritual healing. Some of you will be aware that often when one goes through a profound transformation one feels physically drained of energy for a day or so afterwards, even as one feels profoundly joyful inside. That draining has to do with losing or weakening some of one’s identities or attachments – which used to provide the energy to run certain aspects of your life but are now gone. (The opposite can also happen. On some occasions I have been so physically energized by a breakthrough that I didn’t need any sleep for a number of days.) Well, after seeing U.G. in the middle of a Saturday I was so drained of physical energy I went home and dropped onto my bed and slept for nineteen hours. The bright sun of his awareness had burnt out so much garbage – but only because I was able to be totally open to his consciousness, which I’m afraid few would be able to do. I have also needed to go to sleep – late in the morning -- for almost as long a period on two other occasions when I also managed to “cut out” major identities inside myself, both of them connected with past lifetimes, as they always ultimately are if you dig deep enough.

So, I have no doubt that U.G. had achieved a very profound “level” of realization. Why would he seem to deny this so vigorously, so utterly nihilistically? Well, I can really see his point, in many ways. Let’s assume you have had at least one samadhi “experience”. For a start, it’s a realization and not an experience. Some people have just a glimpse, which isn’t quite the real thing. Moreover, a samadhi realisation is actually just the very beginning. Going from my own experience and that of a small number of rare others, I would claim that you need, for example, to have had full-on samadhi experiences that lasted continuously throughout a number of days and probably weeks before you have maybe really gotten anywhere.

Otherwise, you’re hanging on memories and not the reality. That’s not permanent. It’s just a foretaste.

And what is it that one discovers in such a realization? One discovers that there is only one “spirit” or “mind” or “I” in the entire universe. This means that any other sense of self or identity you may have is a fiction, and ultimately all false. The trouble is, very few people directly make and retain this realization. For everybody else, there is, for now, only the concept of the only true “I”, and certainly not the permanently known reality of it. In their case, all “I”s, all identities, all souls, etc, are fake. They are pure delusion. And doesn’t U.G. make the point that they are thus phoney ever so eloquently?

By the way, I happen to know that we do survive physical death, despite U.G.’s claims. Yes, at death “the lights go out” in the sense that our five senses get switched off. But it doesn’t take long for a person to switch on “the emergency lighting”, so to speak. Every now and then I get visited by someone who has died within the last day. Often I didn’t even know that individual, but I do know someone close to them. The individual simply wants to communicate that they are doing fine.
