    Default Preparing ones body/mind for changes - list of things to do

    {Reposted from PAv1, with minor edits}

    It is good to prepare, and have some of the outside stuff taken care of. Looking after the basics, being ready for Urban inconveniences, or a full on TEOTWAWKI situation.

    Here is my little list of things you can do to prepare your body for the influx of energies bathing our planet, increasing towards 2012(ish), and generally make it easier to get along in life.

    * Turn off the TV
    * Eat healthy food
    * Drink pure water
    * Stop doing drugs (legal (taxable) or illegal (not taxable)) [1]
    * Get sufficient sleep
    * Exercise moderately
    * Take a freezing cold shower every day to wake up (before sunrise)
    * Learn to meditate if you didnt already
    * Meditate each day
    * Fan the flames of love in your heart
    * If you buy into the whole co-creator idea then manifest a new paradigm
    * Listen to your heart
    * Follow your heart
    * Cultivate the inner dialogue
    * Rely less on external sources of guidance
    * Ask for help/guidance as needed

    Please use this thread to add ideas and I will try to keep the O/P up to date.

    I had a bit of a dilemma with myself about where to post this. Spiritual or Prep/Advice. I chose Prep advice because the Spiritual lot should know this stuff already

    A..

    [1] Medical drugs are not included in the meaning of this item. This is not medical advice. You are TOTALLY responsible for anything you put inside your body, and you should be making informed free-will decisions when and if you should ever need to follow another's advice about whether or not to use medication.

    all of these seem great except "Take a freezing cold shower every day to wake up (before sunrise)"... won't be participating there
    I'll add: listen to more music! dance and paint, improvise

    LOL - the previous incarnation of this thread took a similar turn

    Turning off the TV seems unpopular as well.

    Well, I am led to understand that the environment is more conducive to meditation, around 04:00 - 06:00. These are times before which one should ideally have completed the meditation. It has something to do with the angle of the sun in relation to the plane that is tangential to the point on Gaia's surface where you are and the energy associated with that.

    On the basis that you need to get ready for meditation, you would want to be ready by sunrise so by the time you are ready the sun is coming up. Then you can greet the sun along with the rest of nature.

    If you cant make the early slot, the next best thing is to do the same time every day. I discovered that this is true myself. I find if I break the rythm more effort and time is required to get everything done in my meditation.

    In my case, it works for me simply because things are generally quieter at that time in the morning.

    Title: The Best Times to Meditate
    Category: Meditation and Yoga
    Duration: 3 min., 19 seconds

    Today at Kauai Aadheenam, March 21st.

    First, we want to greet Nellaiappan in Chennai, and we want to welcome everybody to Cyberspace Ashram.

    A question came up about meditation. "When is the best time to meditate?"

    Well, the best time to meditate is before dawn, but there are several other times to meditate too. Just before you go to bed at night, read some scripture. Sit and meditate and lift your energies into the head before sleep. If you wake up during the night, sit and meditate for a few minutes, then go back to sleep in higher consciousness. Upon awakening in the morning, again sit up in bed and seek higher consciousness and visualize a wonderful day ahead. This is a standard practice of meditation that keeps life's karmas smoothed out in a most wonderful way.

    Then of course, for longer meditations, before sunrise is the very best time. It is the time when earth is quiet. It is the time when the inner worlds connect with this world in a natural way and you can tune into higher consciousness. Of course, any other time is good too for meditation. It is good any time, 24 hours a day, but these are the best times.

    It is very important to stay out of the lower realms of the mind, out of the bad dream areas of the mind. That is why this standard practice of meditation before you go to sleep. If you wake up during the night, meditate a few minutes, and meditate in the morning before you get out of bed. Then you will have a wonderful day. This controls the instinctive mind. When you are a little bit sleepy, the intellectual mind is not a barrier as much as it would be throughout the day. But the instinctive mind is a barrier and it must be controlled, because karma is created even in your dreams. Karma is created. So we want to stay out of the lower areas of the mind. I hope this answers that question on meditation and if not, ask another one.

    Well everyone, we'll be seeing you tomorrow, and the next day begins a retreat. The day after that is a retreat; and the day after that, we'll be seeing you again.

    Aum Namah Sivaya.

    Anchor, I like your list, even the cold shower. Except meditation--it's very hard for me, my mind is 'on' and prattling along.

    I have found a huge difference since I began leaving off the TV. There is something about having it on that sucks the motivation out of me. When I realized that, it became easy to leave it off.

    Thanks for posting it.

    great list!

    easier said than done for me. Changing routine is never easy haha

    i can see the benefit in each of the suggestions on the list.

    i second grace's suggestion about listening to music and dancing! getting your body to move besides just excercise is great always works for me if im feeling like im shutting down

    i may also suggest getting out. whether its taking a walk in nature or going to see friends.. get out of your normal areas like your house or office all the time. Or if you have the opportunity go on a weekend trip and see someplace new that youve never been

    Pixiedust, nature walks are a wonderful suggestion.
    Here it's so hot during the day, walks aren't appealing, but walking at twilight or the cool evening is soothing. It's a different world, lit by moonlight and an occasional street lamp. I have a 2-3 mile route I take--in the country, it's safe to walk at night. For others maybe a morning walk would work.
