I'm not giving my name, where I am stationed, how long I have been a member of the forces, my gender, the branch I am currently assigned to, what my current clearance level is (Not all Public Affairs officers have the same clearance level, and giving mine could narrow down their search for me) because that information could help track down who I am.
Here is my information:
I currently serve in the Canadian Forces Public Affairs trade (MOC 66). Myself, and many other Public Affairs colleges have taken part in disinformation campaigns designed to keep information regarding the existence of extra terrestrials and UFO sightings either out of the media, or to provide alternative terrestrial explanations them.
When there is a significant sighting we know to be of extra terrestrial origin that garners media attention, our mission is to provide an alternative explanation, or discredit the witness. We work closely with our NATO allies in designing a ASDB (Authentic Sighting Data Base) of reported sightings, and a collective list of terrestrial explanations that can best be used to explain a sighting, either in the form of witness testimonial, or a photograph/video.
We also have access to a PRDB (Personal Record Data Base), of everyone in Canada who hold a valid social insurance number. We have access to credit card numbers, bank accounts, which also give us access to things like spending habits, Facebook/Twitter accounts, education history, work history, criminal records, outstanding bills, etc. All other NATO nations with the exception of Turkey have similar databases. We only have access to the citizens of our respective nations however.
The reason for this is, if we need to discredit an individual during a particular authentic sighting case, we have a wealth of information available to either blackmail said individual with, or use to expose him or her as a non credible witness.
Sighting information is passed down to us on a need to know basis. We are not told details about particular sightings we are required to discredit. We have to work with what information is provided, and consult our PRDB/ASDB's to formulate our next course of action. Depending on the nature of the sighting, be it simply an eye witness testimony, or actual photograph/video, we will draw information from one of our databases to either provide an alternative terrestrial explanation, or to discredit the eyewitness testimony of an individual.
It is not the Canadian Forces Public Affairs officer who discredits an individual publicly. We have multiple liaisons within major Canadian media outlets we pass this information on to, who then formulate a story to either debunk a sighting, or discredit a witness. We ensure that the Canadian Forces or the Government of Canada are not tied back to said information, or had a hand in the assassination of ones character.
We (or at least I) do not have any information on the intent of the extra terrestrial beings, what they physically look like, where they are from, or anything about them other than we have been told they exist.
This is all the information I can safely give without potentially giving away my identity.
