I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

This is fascinating, thank you for posting this, I didn't know it existed, or what this musician was really about at the time I was into his albums except for the Miles Davis-like progressive jazz sound.

I was the cutting edge music oddball in high school in the suburbs of Chicago and used to sneak downtown for concerts. Once I made a special effort to see Sun Ra who played in a nondescript, low-ceiling linoleum floor basement of some office or church building in some nondescript side street to a sparse crowd.

Thanks for completing the circle for me.

An amazing work, and definitely a classic. So much continues to resonate in themes familiar to many here. Themes of oppression vs possibility, the world as it is vs the world as it could be ... all within the overriding context of the "blacksploitation genre' of movies of the early to mid 70s.

    Definitely entertaining ...
