I got rid of the box a long time ago. 14 years now? It's wonderful. I notice that many folks talk about TV shows and not much else. It's nice not be contained in one's way of thinking and expressing.

    From the Heart,

The last time i had a telivision, is when I was watching it on one hour, on sundays, to see the new episodes of the x- files. Other than that, it was shut off.

Then... G. Junior won the US election, and I said, "I've had enough of you, and If I see one more second, I'm going to put my boot through the television."

And that was done after I had done the German Christmas thing, for about 5 years, where if you where bad, you got a lump of coal in your Christmas sock, on Christmas morning. I had modified that so there was a big lump of coal on the top of the TV. So if I turned it on, I had to look at this big lump of coal.

Basically, I stopped watching television (removed from the house) completely in 2000, but had nearly stopped period, since about 1992-1994.

Of course, I was one of the internet originals, and was on the net before it existed. (late 80's the beginnings...and then fleshed out in the early 1990's)

That desire for input and then also ..exchange..it has to go somewhere, it does not simply go away on it's own.

    Hi,

I haven't had a television for over 20 years... never missed it. I actually know that part of my awakening was turning off and tuning out the TV. I can't actually listen to television, it sounds like babble to me, literally I can't focus on the words so they make no sense at all.

Many of my childhood years were relatively television free, our set broke and my family couldn't afford to replace it. I do remember feeling deprived and would eagerly watch shows at friends houses. It felt like if you didn't know what was going on on television you were not part of the community. Insidious really how it took over.

    Good thread.

    Christine

Think of it this way. If the world was ending, you'd open the door of the the house..and see everyone running around madly....and at that point, you'd know (right or wrong) as much as they do. And if one was working with the internet, you'd likely see it coming long before and know exactly what it is, which they, of TV land... would not be privy to.

the mind takes TIME to re-wire, so expect a few months of bodily pining and whining, as one re-learns how to operate without the idiot box eating up one's time.

To re-iterate a very important point made by the hypnotist and regressionist Dolores Cannon, she said that in her understanding (of some study she had looked at) that no person has ever been found..who can survive watching television for more than 30 seconds(!)..WITHOUT going into the auto-hypnotic suggestive state (or some similar mental state).

You physiologically slip into the passive data acceptance mode, when you watch television.

    Seriously so.

Iv'e had no TV now for five years AND have No regrets!

Still get the regular letters for me to renew my licence - No Chance there!

People think I am weird because I choose not to have a television and yet I am more upto date than they are regarding true events around the globe.

People seem to waste much of their precious time on watching soaps or playing on there playstations, X box etc.

They need to get a life!

We have a TV here, but it΄s always turned off.

I enjoy reading much more than watching videos, but whenever I don΄t feel like reading, it΄s great to watch some movies and documentaries.

I got myself a video projector, so I can download whatever I want from the internet and watch it like in a movie theater, with the advantages that I don΄t need to go to a shopping mall and socialize with a bunch of zombies whenever I want to watch a movie.

Feels much better when you can actually choose whatever you want to watch, instead of wasting time switching between stupid TV channels. I feel sick whenever I watch the TV; I can΄t stand to watch it for more than 5 minutes.

I΄ll get married next year and when we eventually have kids, I΄ll definitively dump my TV.

I really don΄t want my kids to get brainwashed by stupid cartoons and tv shows, while they could invest their time learning a musical instrument, reading cool books or just playing outside with friends.

I have a 5 years old nephew ; whenever he isn΄t at school, he΄s watching TV (drooling in front of it, actually) or playing video games. It΄s really sad to see him growing up like that.

What kind of adult will he become? Probably, when he grows up, things wont change much. He΄ll work in a stupid job all day long and waste the rest of his time watching TV and drinking beer when he gets home.

To all of you who have young kids, don΄t let their lives be sucked by a TV. They wont understand your choice right now and their friend΄s parents will call you weird, but I΄m sure they΄ll thank you in the future.

    Raf.
The house is on fire, the fire alarm is ringing, you can smell the smoke, you can feel the heat, but somehow, refuse to get out of the bed and do anything about it; Maybe you΄re just scared, maybe you believe the fire is an illusion, or maybe you΄re just waiting for a miracle to save you...Eventually, you die. So, what is it worth to be "awake" if you don΄t get out of the bed and do something?

If "everything goes well'', it will be only for a little while longer until I'm completely 'free' of the current paradigm. I had begun the 'transition' a short bit ago, but still need to rid myself of some constraints. This won't happen until the beginning of the new year. Just the same, I've not had tee-vee since '95, but did keep the set. Had it set up when I bought my home in '02, but only watched the 'news' on occasion - didn't have cable or Anything. Only got 1 station through my rabbit ears and the news was the Only thing it was on for - weather in the morning, and national news in the evening, but never consistently - WAY too much to do and keep active with.

When they invaded Iraq, they showed some night-vision feed from a Huey gunship... and slaughtered some civilians right there on prime time - that did it... haven't watched anything since, and I've weened myself from even the 'alternative' news over the last few months.

It's ALL FEAR PORN. I've NO USE for Any of it.

Now I've got some really interesting projects that will allow for more 'transitions' away from the current energy paradigms, and look forward to this new chapter in my own life, and Mother Earth's.

    I'll repeat - MEDITATE

"Let thine eye be single, and thy whole body will be filled with Light"

    In Unity, Peace and Love

For some 13 years i live without TV and radios. I do not track mainstrim media on daily basis, but sometimes i look on some sites arround, in fact i dont track news serving at all. Rather i look for people opinions throught net, my fav is of course Avalon as here one can find such wide spectrum of news, insights, ideas, opinions and rather than just suck ideas into brain it develops discussion and different opinions.
As my past job i worked on few TV stations here and one of my oldest interest was video montage, still when beta cassetes was involved alot. I did montaged breaking news and "informative" programs. The day I stopped watching TVand track news is a day i started to montage news
When I realised how much false information, stealing other stations false info and putting false picture on some false text stumbled me so much that i had to stop doing that, and that one put me in 3D animation and doing cartoons and video animations rather than doing work on filling human brain with nonsense.
But don't worry that false info finds his way arround TV today.. goes through internet more and more, there is so much interference and false information on net that is real art to filter any useful info out of it.
Also i did a wast number of "educational" documentary movies which is so much damaged info cause of involvement of TV stations. To release one good documentary TV stations needs to interfere alot and change content. For example we did one on war in ex-Yugoslavia and we pointed real info towards making that war on purpose and deal between presidents and their master plan. When we presented work on one local station, they sent one guy which changed alot of info telling that is the only way that documentary sees its day on that station. I was just animation dude, no more or less and producer agreed on changing content which got me personally so angry that i decided to leave in middle of it without collecting any payement from it. They released it anyways and response from people was: "such a great info and deep understanding of things unfolding" .. WHICH WAS TOTALLY FALSE
It made me sad from inside how easily is to present things in such media, you can easily hide real content and truth and make watcher to see only what you want him to see. That fact is real horror to me.

Today i cant even be in a room while TV works when i come to visit some friend. Simply i politely take remoteand turn it of, if he turns it on i simply leave
Cause i noticed that i can suck info even passively while not giving any attention to it, it simply hipnotises anyone in presence of it.
Also I noticed that is real art to get involved in any constructional conversation with TV people cause they are so much INFORMED on events and so much in denial and standing in "reality" makes conversation end in predictable ways like .. if only our goverment would.... what to do in recession .. what if war .. what if this and that .. not to mention those new age metereopat weather forecast like: today we gonna feel sad and tommorow will be happy

And when you throw your TV out of window than you realise one more awfull fact.. Buildings in city's are full of antennas, ordinary city is full of radio and TV signals traveling through peoples brain even if they don't have any apartaus to catch those signal. Tons of low frequencies march through air 0-24 affecting human behaviour and will.

I have no TV. I use my flat screen for DVD's. I will not fund a cable company for their product.

Got rid of mine six years ago when I started my awakening.... about the time I quit smoking. Combined savings: About $500 per month, and untold amounts in medical/psycho-therapy expenses.

If I want to watch a ball game, I go to the sports bar down the block.

Thanks mostly to Colin Powell, bless his heart, for admitting in front of the UN that they knew there were no WMD's in Iraq. Made me wonder if ANYTHING they tell us is true. Sure enough, not much of it is.

Our TV has no cable, we use it to listen to music and watch movies sometimes. It has only been a year or so since we've been TV-less, persay.

Because I study and write on pop culture, I used to watch TV in order to dissect the paradigm. That included reality shows, the news, HBO series and movies. And they were and are entertaining! I'd watch the mainstream news just to see what lies were important at the moment or what the spin was, because that was indicative of what was really going on behind the scenes.

I only watch a few things now. Falling Skies, Merlin, Game of Thrones, So You Think You Can Dance, Spartacus, Fringe, X-Factor, American Idol, the Walking Dead, Survivor and whatever almost new movies are out that we might find interesting.

Now I can get all of that I want without the commercials or subliminals on the Net, more particularly, at the Pirate Bay. Haaaaaarrrrrr!!!!!

I don't watch TV at all, but often think of putting my boot through my husband's TV addiction.
But then I catch myself and remember my commitment to having a marriage in which the partner receives the space to be himself. Which in turn allows me to be an Avalonian.
There was a time when I was alone a lot so I had House and Garden TV running in the background, but even that became an annoyance...except for the shows that remodel a home on a shoestring.
