We have got this book, and its the most worn book on the shelf !

Well worth shelling out for the paper copy, it covers all the basics of holistic healing*, a must for any lightworker, reiki practitioner, etc etc, even if you are of poor health & don't know why ( which is why we got it in the first instance)

* How the physical, mental , emotional & energetic systems interrelate and effect each other

I only bought this book about 6 months ago and it's already worn. There so many pages with the corners folded. The information is wonderful. It helps me understand myself more as well as help me in my spiritual healing studies.

I've owned a copy of HANDS OF LIGHT for well over ten years. I found it to be a fascinating book. While reading it, I felt that this was the answer in providing healing and we should all learn how to do it.

A friend of mine discovered the book around the same time I did. She was a successful artist who decided to leave everything behind in order to study with Barbara Ann Brennan. So she asked her father to give her the inheritence he'd promised her so that she could go to Germany to study for four years. She said the time spent there were the most wonderful four years of her life. When she returned I offered myself as her "guinea pig" (her words!) to practise her energy healing. The healings felt worderful but they didn't help my malise one bit. This was totally shocking to me and to her! She could not find anything wrong with my energy field although I was very unwell. She and I were so willing and so believing that this would work, yet it didn't - not one little bit! Then she worked on others who were much more ill than I've ever been. None of it worked! She spent much time with a mutual friend of ours who died of cancer. She couldn't help him heal but wanted to at least alleviate his pain. His pain increased every time she touched him. Eventually she gave up much disillusioned and frustrated. She doesn't even try to do energy work anymore.

I'm not saying this to be discouraging about this book or about energy work. I think we should all own a copy of the book. Everyone stands to learn something from it.

I recounted the story above because it always baffled me that this woman who gave up everything to become an energy healer and studied with BAB herself, has failed (in her own words) in healing anyone. Barbara did not do all the lectures. She just did the most important ones. Her disciples did the others.

It's always astonishing to me how some people are willing to give up everything they have in order to be of help to others, and it doesn't happen for them. I find this quite incomprehensible.

I can relate to this, having been ill for most of my life & trying more things than I care to remember, its to do with what illness is, and why we have it.

The energy systems of the body (in the broadest sence) manifest & respond to our "inner states", and when these are wrong or out of balance then dis-ease manifests, so if you don't address the root cause, beliefs, attitudes, fears etc the malady prevails.

Not only does it not "heal" but by ramping up the energy in the system, as a lot of healers do, it just exacerbates the problem.

People won't let go of an illness they haven't finished learning from, this is something I've learnt the hard way, and is the reason why top medical specialists interview people before treatment, & reject those who aren't ready to get better.

I think your friend needs the right teacher & has some stuff to deal with of her own first, choosing a path like that is allways going to throw up some really hard lessons.

If you truly want to change and heal, you must be other than what you are now. And that involves digging deeply into the subconscious aspect of mind. Likely there are maps and assumptions about yourself and life that block healing and change. These submind ideas must be moved out of your experience. Many tools are available, but a method that has garnered much acclaim is Dr. Joe Dispenza's method of becoming someone different. "The quantum world does not respond to what you want, but to who you are being". His wonderful book, Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself, teaches how. It's a bit of trickery and fantasy, but he explains in physiological terms how this works. Great book. Also, see his DVD and other books. The DVD shows how "spontaneous healing" manifests.

There is another book worth a look its called: The Healer Within by David Furlong. I often feel energy in the palms of my hands (centre) moving around, when im unbalanced I feel tips of one of my fingers tingling as well. Page 171 of this book goes into this.
