He was the Chairman of the Federal Reserve under United States Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan from August 1979 to August 1987. He is widely credited with ending the high levels of inflation seen in the United States in the 1970s and early 1980s. He was the Chairman of the Economic Recovery Advisory Board under President Barack Obama from February 2009[2] until January 2011.

I worked at the FRB of Dallas until 2009... I witnessed so much corruption and ethical nightmares it sickened me. During the 2008 elections those on the 11th floor were talking about the "Audit the Fed" notion of Ron Paul's and what a disaster it would be... they also said that it would never happen. This organization really is a criminal enterprise, no conspiracy theory... but the real deal. The Secret Service was always clearing the halls and escorting prior presidents and other representatives as well as business moguls. It really was quite a vipers nest.
