Cymatics is the study of the effects of sound vibrations on physical matter. When I was introduced to the pioneering work of Dr. Hans Jenny in 1977, it provided the visual evidence that proved the physical power of sound and music. This study has always been a featured part of my lectures and workshops. Now, with 'sound made visible,' it was possible to demonstrate astonishing effects on solids, liquids and gases.

John Stuart Reid and Erik Larson improved upon Dr Jenny's tonoscope with their new CymaScope (TM) When we met at a Cymatics Therapy Conference, John offered to see what images the recording I made in 1981 while I chanted Inside the Great Pyramid would produce.

As you will see, and hear, the results were simply amazing. Note: I filmed the events on my hand-held digital video camera. The sound quality was not nearly as good as the CD, so we overdubbed as much of the pure CD sound as possible in post-production.

A while back I was experimenting with seeing energy fields. I sat in front of a mirror, tuned into seeing the enrgy field around me (basic amateur level folks) and then chanted ohm. The effect on the energy surrounding my body was incredible - it expanded hugely. I am sorry but I did not investigate further to understand what I saw or find out how to use it, but all I can report is what I saw. Sound has an immediate and major effect on our energy field. What this effect actually is and what it means I do not know.

Perhaps there are people on this forum who can see energy and repeat my experiment and report on what they experience?

I placed two candles behind me and on each side of me (so that they would not be reflected in the mirror), sat in a meditation pose in front of a mirror, got into a relaxed state, tuned into seeing the energy around my body instead of looking at my reflection (I don't know how to explain the technique I use, but it is about letting my sight go soft and opening my awareness), and then when I was tuned into seeing the energy I started chanting ohm.

Partly why I stopped this investigation was because I started seeing stuff that I found scary and I could not find anyone to help me understand and work through what I saw. The person who was my personal 'guru' at the time simply said 'I do not know why you were allowed to see that'. Huh?!

I had my own chanting experience inside the Great Pyramid:

As the last of our visiting group retreated down the narrow passageway to leave, I impulsively waited inside the king’s chamber with my hubby until we were alone.

I moved to what intuitively felt like “the right spot” and began to chant OM. (I am an experienced yogini.)

Well.

The sound of my single voice began to swell and reverberate within the chamber. It built and multiplied and echoed into multiple voices. The entire chamber began to resonate. The vibration rolled and echoed down the passageway – prompting a few “oh wows!” from those still in the passageway.

I continued my sustained OM as long as my breath would permit. The enormous granite stones beneath my feet (weighing between 25-80 tons) began to vibrate! I am not kidding.

I felt as though I existed at the center of a vast nexus of living, vibrating, perfectly tuned cosmic energy. The entire chamber was alive and singing.

And I used that moment to extend a prayer for humanity, as far as that vibration could reach…..

Afterward, for several hours, it felt as though every cell in my body was a tiny, swirling galaxy of energy, alive, scintillating with light.

This vibration sounds so much like the chants that the Tibetan Monks produce. I recently was lucky enough to attend a ceremony conducted by them and the sound that they produced made my whole body vibrate for hours afterward.
