Connection between parents and children
This is something I've been pondering for some time and after the last occurrence I felt like I had to share it in case some other people have experienced something similar.
A bit about me - I have a son who is a bit over 1 year who is the spitting image of me. Looking at pictures from when I was a baby the resemblance is uncanny and it looks sometimes like he is a carbon copy of me. The love of a parent for their child is something indescribable, and it seems like there have been 4 or 5 instances where whatever ailments he is having my body seems to mirror. I'm not talking about contagious illnesses, either. Here are a few examples:
- When my son was 3 months old he had a very rough bought of stomach pains and diarrhea that lasted 2 days. During those same two days I was also having an upset stomach although I wasn't eating anything different than my wife (who was nursing at the time), and in general I have an iron stomach.
- Another time while my son was going through a particularly rough teething period with lots of salivation I suddenly had a period of 4 days where I was constantly salivating. I have good dental health, and there were no external factors that seemed likely to cause it. During this time he was constantly antsy and hungry and I felt like I was always hungry as well. The constant salivation made my mouth hungry for food literally 5 minutes after eating a meal.
These are just two examples but I have a few more that have occurred over the year and two months he's been with us. This is likely all just coincidence but I was curious if anyone else has experienced similar things with their children. Every time it happens it is really bizarre and makes me feel like I am imagining things, but there is no denying that my body seems to empathize with his non-contagious symptoms.
Or maybe I'm just crazy
