A pigeon, no less! Looks more like a peacock!

The Blue Crowned Pigeon is also known as the Western crowned pigeon. In the wild it lives in the lowland rainforests of Papua, Indonesia section of New Guinea. It is hunted for food and its plumes. http://buff.ly/1RF0Ifk

"Well, that was crazy! During my photography workhsop tonight, a huge glowing light suddenly started glowing.
The light was getting brighter and the cloud started growing. We thought it was a plane flying through a cloud at first
but the light changed to green and then blue so we thought we witnessed something magical like a comet or something.
Turns out it was just a naval missle. It was still a really cool experience and a treat to the workshop atendees. What a night..."

Aurora Australis With A Meteor

While photographing the southern lights near the wreck, Olivia at Bluff, Southland, NZ I caught a meteor shooting from above and burning out as it passed by. I could see the smoke vapours after it passed.

The Sierra Club is asking for people to sign their petition to help save this beautiful little Appalachian fish, the Kentucky Arrow Darter

The colorful little Kentucky arrow darter lives in Appalachia, where the coal industry has already destroyed an area the size of Delaware and is destroying the darter's only habitat through mountaintop removal mining. The arrow darter was once found in 74 streams, but today it’s only in 38. Nearly half of that loss happened in the last twenty years -- since mountaintop removal mining became widespread and polluted the water with metals and other contaminants.

It's time we say enough is enough. We can't stand by and let the coal industry continue to destroy these beautiful landscapes, and the wildlife and communities that depend on this land and water for survival.

Fortunately, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agrees that the arrow darter is in grave danger and they’re considering protecting it under the Endangered Species Act. Your comment can save this unique fish from near-extinction and prevent more devastation from mountaintop removal mining.

Cloaked in the snows of California’s Sierra Nevada, the 3,200-year-old giant sequoia called the President rises 247 feet. Two other sequoias have wider trunks, but none has a larger crown, say the scientists who climbed it. The figure at top seems taller than the other climbers because he’s standing forward on one of the great limbs.
