Oxford Professor Says Genetically Altering Unborn Babies Personalities A Moral Obligation

Genetically screening our offspring to make them better people is just “responsible parenting”, claims an eminent Oxford academic, The Telegraph reports.

Professor Julian Savulescu, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Ethics, said that creating so-called designer babies could be considered a “moral obligation” as it makes them grow up into “ethically better children”, this based on a few genetic links to ‘personality disorders’.

He said that we should actively give parents the choice to screen out personality flaws in their children as it meant they were then less likely to “harm themselves and others”.

Yes, checking for defect in unborn baby in order to be able to decide on repairs, which when done in the womb are without anesthetics for the child (ouch!) or to abort.

Well, one of those defects is being a girl. So many countries, amongst them China and India, had had so many girls abortions that the birth of boys is much more than of girls and it generates an imbalance globally in their society: not enough girl to marry the available men.

One would think the girls became a wanted price with much more values, therefore getting to be in an advantageous situation. But on the contrary, consequently the girls became the target of further exploitation for global services. For example, stealing a young girl and having her servicing sexually a group of men, in other words sexual slaves. It seems it is becoming a major problem in some parts of China.

Nature knows much more than man when it come to equilibrium and sanity. There was a reason why a slighty higher number of girls were traditionally born. There is a reason why an unborn baby may miscarry.
