Default UK Proposes All Paychecks Go to the State First

The UK's tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employees by bank transfer.

The proposal by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) stresses the need for employers to provide real-time information to the government so that it can monitor all payments and make a better assessment of whether the correct tax is being paid.

Currently employers withhold tax and pay the government, providing information at the end of the year, a system know as Pay as You Earn (PAYE). There is no option for those employees to refuse withholding and individually file a tax return at the end of the year.

I c annot believe what I have just read. WOW! Where does this government get off?

I am totally non volient, however, I can see this starting a revolution in GB.

For a government to collect someone waqges before them! My head is blown.

Coming to think of it, did the taxman not just bugger up the txt they where charging people? Now, they are wanting their wages.

If people trust this, they need to check their own heads.

    Irish;
Never forget! In government's view, all of it is their money!

You only get to borrow it for a while. And even then, they want to charge rent for it.

    You'd think we'd learn, huh?

    Fred,

I can now see why people are happy to live on benefits. At least the, you take take take and give nothing back. But the government doesn't get their hands on you wages.

    Shocking, just shocking.

Maybe this is what is needed for folk to take notice? Most people have the "I'm aright, fck you Jack" attitude.
This could just be the government testing the water into how folk will react.
My guess is, its going to take alot more than this for folk to stand up.

    Bryn,

I am not so sure. Even looking at the comments on youtube, people are generally unhappy with this. Even those that are "asleep".

It is probably a ruse. The big slap threatened in order to make people happier with a coming smaller slap.

It reminds me of the time I tried to explain the difference between the Nazi/fed/Bush-CIA/etc crew VS the Bilderburg/elitist/euro-centric/Rothschild/etc crew....to a friend.

I said that the first group simply kills you dead. No mercy, not talk no nothing. Just kill.

The second group, wants to sit down at a table and rationally discuss with you...exactly how you are going to die.

He said he wanted to go with group 2.

I told him it amounted to nothing more than a few extra minutes at a table with a sheen of respectability to it.

Lets just be clear, this is the Inland Revenue that wants this, not the government or people.

Don't say its the UK if its not the actual nation rather a civil authority within that nation.

And in my opinion the chaces of this actually happening is on the same scale as my desk spontaneously turning into fried salmon.

    Zepheriah,

I seem to remember quite alot of [people saying that about the second world war after the first, it will never happen again.

I also remember hearing that the Inland revenue is run by the Government, and by all means, would not release a opress statement like that without first having discussions with the Government. Moreover, they will say what the government tells them to say, no?

    No, actually.

The Inland Revenue, or Her Majesties Revenue and Customs to be precise, Is a civil authority set up by the Crown and Parliament many moons ago to handle the way we are taxed and the way that those taxes are collected. They are a seperate office from the government and Crown, essentially the middlemen supposedly protecting our intetrests from unfair taxation (feel free to burst out laughing for a moment here).

They may release any information, projections and/or suggestions they like, with no government involvement.

The government can ask/legislate them to change the way they operate if doing so will protect the public interest, but the HMRC cannot action any changes without governmental support first.

Bit of an irony that the ones supposedly in place to protect us from tehg overnment can't do anything without their permission but its a funny old world huh?

So yes, still not the nation or governement making the suggestion.

    However!!!!!

In my view this is less about the suggestion listed above, more about that oldest trick in the book. "we need to do something horrible, so lets suggest something more horrible so when we do what we wanted to originally it seems less bad".

    ie

We need Iraqi oil..... Saddam has WMD's lets invade before he uses them! oh wait he doesn't have any............ Nice oil deal
We need Afghani oil.... 9/11 = Afghani's hate us and kill our children! Lets invade before they do it again..........Nice oil deal
We need control of your money so we can institute a system wide change you'll hate....... Look at our utterly horrifying taxation idea! People rail against it, look...heres a better idea!........Total control.

    swings and roundabouts.

In New Zealand, the IRD can access/withdraw/monitor your account whenever it suits them...no obligation to notify you or your bank...been like that for several years.

There have been case such as: Woman goes to ATM...no funds...gonzo...into bank she goes, "ask' wtf? "oh...hmmm...well I can see the IRD have withdrawn your funds. you will have to talk to them....

turns out 'wrong woman' same surname...she got an apology and a 3 months wait before they credited her account.

Now think about that for a bit...

These possible measures to come, are likely...this is one of the steps towards a cashless society...thats if the sun doesn't fry us first

    Regards
