London's been down for payments today - exept for cash

the town's been seriously affected, wonder if anyone else in the SE had this happen.

been trying most of the afternoon to restore our boadband connection at work..having failed i picked up the phone for help, but the phones were down..i then picked up my hated mobile to report the fault - not a prayer - could't get past the recoreded message that there's a major fault and that BT is doing its best to fix it..now, because i keep most of our docs online, that meant the working day was over..on my way home i wanted to collect some grocaries from a supemarket and on my way in, there was a nice man saying to everyone: CASH ONLY !!! how odd, i thought..then i got into a conversation with a lady exiting the supermarket who i know works in our local bank (barclays) who said that the whole system was down (for card payments).. so, it wasn't only the internet and the telecomms...wonder what is happening..

i'm ok at home - maybe because a have a cable connection..

any other part of the uk affected?

Warwickshire is OK ....everything net, cash machines, cable, landlines. Dunno about mobils...don't use one.

I have a PS3 and play games online. The past few days have been terrible (nothing to do with my connection) with games crashing mid way through, not being able to join games etc
Some thing is definitely going on

ive notice my connection is quite weak at the moment. i dont have a phone, bank account or any money so havnt notied if civilisation has short circuited or not yet ;0

they took nothing but cash today in shops - in london...something must be happening...in addition to bt broadband and phone lines crushing..i ma not with bt so i don't know if the whole thing's been fixed by now..but i'll know if the card payments are accepted tomorrow...

It's OK the service provider for Project Avalon had to open bandwidth so we were working better and didn't realize London was running on the other half of the server... oops...

This doesn't make much sense to me. My connection has been fine and I know my connection goes through a London based server. When playing an interactive online game I "Ping plotted" my route serveral times. I have 1 hop to London then it goes to Paris before headeding out to New York to connect to the game.

Maybe it's only BT that has had problems. Is AV1&2 on a BT server ?

yes it's only the bt that has a major problem so it seems .. it's been localised to pockets of the town by now - mainly the marylebone and regent's park areas..card payments in local shops are back to normal...bw l
