In short, abouty a month ago, Saudi Arabia gave Isreal "fly over rights" where attacking Iran is concerned. The story's links talk about Israel landing planes, and support supplies at an air field inside Saudi Arabia.

People keep forgetting that the real enemies in the ME are actually Iran (Shi ite), and Saudi Arabia (Sunni).

That no one was more upset about the US invading Iraq than the Saudi's were, because, as nasty as Saddam was, he did perform a service to the Saudis. He operated a "secular" government (religious in name only, and only when it suited him) and a large territorial buffer between Iran and S.A. In short, he was the "junk yard dog" so mean no one would cross him, and so he kept the Iranians at bay.

Then along comes the US, and in their idiocy, not only gets rid of the dog, but hands a huge portion of land (Iraq) over to a shia majority. Iran and Iraq will sooner or later become either close allies, or one country. And this bodes ugly for the Saudis.

think back on all the heat the Saudis took for allowing even the US to place troops in their country... now imagine what they're going to get over allowing Israel to fly-over... and now base planes and supplies within the "holy country"?

So, if this be where things stand, imagine the desperation the Saudis must feel re. Iran's status. Imagine the heat both Israel and the Saudis are willing to take over this.

    "Interesting times", no doubt.

Thanks Fred. I’m not sure if I agree with some of it as it was Iraq under orders of US that attached Iran which led to the 10 year war between them and I just can’t see the two countries merging any time soon to be honest. I’ve also been under the impression that the Saudis and US are bed partners so whatever is projected on the surface is probably the opposite to what’s actually going on underneath. Interesting times indeed.

Pakistan to go ahead with Iran gas deal

Pakistan has brushed aside the unilateral US sanctions against Iran, saying it will go ahead with the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project as planned.

"We could start the project as soon as possible to meet the energy crisis which the country faces," a Press TV correspondent reported Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit as saying on Wednesday.

Basit added that measures were underway by the Pakistani government to start implementing the multi-billion-dollar contract on the import of natural gas from Iran in 2014.

The comments come days after Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced the sealing of a deal between Islamabad and Tehran in view of Pakistan's growing energy needs.

"This agreement is in the interest of Pakistan and it will only see its interests and the international laws…… the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline agreement will not come under the ambit of the sanctions on Tehran," Qureshi said on Monday.

Earlier in the week, the US special envoy to Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke, warned Pakistan not to "over-commit" itself to the deal as it comes in violation of new US-adopted sanctions against the Islamic Republic which target the Iranian energy sector.

Iran, however, has completed the construction of more than a third of the 2,600-kilometer gas pipeline, which is estimated to cost $7 billion.

Under the deal, Iran will supply its southeastern neighbor with 760 million cubic feet (21.5 million cubic meters) of gas per day, which amounts to 20 percent of the recipient's demands.

Iran sanctions, 'no beginning for talks'

In the wake of a new UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution against Iran, the country's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dismisses the notion that sanctions will pave the way for further negotiations with the Islamic Republic.

Speaking on Wednesday, President Ahmadinejad criticized the fourth round of UNSC sanctions on Iran, saying "The recent resolution against the Iranian nation was in fact a loud announcement of the fall of liberalism and humanism."

The Iranian chief executive went on to stress the futility of such punitive measures, saying that "Those who ratified the resolution are perfectly aware that it will have no impact."

"They have stated clearly that this resolution is the start of negotiations with Iran, but they are mistaken," President Ahmadinejad said, adding that the West cannot overpower the Iranian nation by resorting to such outdated threatening measures.

He also lashed out at the West for using the carrot and stick policy, warning that "the Iranian nation will break their stick by its logic."

The remarks came as earlier on June 9, the majority of the 15-member UNSC voted in favor of a US-drafted fourth round of sanctions which broadens previous financial and military restrictions against Iran.

The sanctions were approved as the International Atomic Energy Agency has in numerous reports asserted that its inspectors and surveillance equipment at Iran's nuclear facilities have found no evidence of diversion in the country's declared nuclear material.

Tehran has rejected the resolution as lacking legal basis, saying that such punitive measures would only strengthen the Iranian nation's resolve in its pursuit of the nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

I don't think this situation is anywhere near as uncomfortable for the Saudi's as you state Fred. The removal of the "junk yard dog" on the surface may seem like their buffer safety zone has been removed, when infact it's been replaced by a US force and undermined population. This is actually perfect for them. It's one step closer to a Saudi/Israeli/US controlled middle east. I think SA is as deeply embedded into the global agenda at it's highest level than any country on earth......up there with tptb of USA, Britain and Israel. It was arguably the shrewdest move for this lot to jump in bed together...

Iran renews call for nuke-free world

Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki blames nuclear-armed states for the failure of efforts aimed at global disarmament, calling for a world free from weapons.

"Nuclear-armed countries are responsible for failure of efforts aimed at dismantling nuclear weapons," IRNA quoted Mottaki as saying at the International Conference on Nuclear Disarmament in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea Littoral States in Turkmenistan's capital Ashgabat on Thursday.

He voiced Iran's full support for dismantling nuclear weapons in Central Asia as part of Tehran's push for international nuclear disarmament.

The Iranian minister expressed confidence that such moves would be "fruitful" in tightening security in countries of the region.

Mottaki said that using the issue of such weapons as a tool to achieve political aims is the worst form of "blackmailing" and called on the international community to prevent nuclear-armed countries from accessing such weapons.

He went on to say that the first step towards global disarmament is that nuclear-armed countries must outline a timetable for dismantling their atomic weapons and added, "Otherwise, all efforts aimed at establishing a world free of nuclear weapons will be futile."

Mottaki also stressed that Israel, which is the only possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, endangers the region's peace and security.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inaugurated the one-day conference on Thursday, which was also attended by Kazakhstan and Tajikistan and deputy foreign ministers from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Azerbaijan.

Reports: IAF Landed at Saudi Base, US Troops near Iran Border

The Israeli Air Force recently unloaded military equipment at a Saudi Arabia base, a semi-official Iranian news agency claimed Wednesday, while a large American force has massed in Azerbaijan, which is on the northwest border of Iran.

Both reports follow by less than a week the Pentagon’s confirmation that an unusually large American fleet sailed through the Suez Canal Saturday. Several reports stated that an Israeli ship joined the armada.

The Pentagon played down the news, saying the American maneuvers were routine. However, a report by Iran on Wednesday that it has enriched dozens of pounds of 17 per cent enriched uranium serves as a reminder that time is running out to stop Iran from being able to produce a nuclear weapon.

Iran’s Fars News Agency said the Israeli military aircraft landed 10 days ago at the Saudi base near the city of Tabuk, located in northwest Saudi Arabia, one of the closest areas in the oil kingdom to Iran.

Fars said that the Tabuk base will be the central station for an Israeli attack on Iran. It quoted an Islamic news site that a commercial airline passenger said the airport in Tabuk was closed to all other traffic during the alleged Israeli landings. The passenger said that "no reasonable explanation” was given for shutting down the airport and those passengers were compensated financially and booked in four-star hotels.

“The relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel have become the talk of the town,” the passenger added. The chief authority in Tabuk, Prince Fahd ben Sultan, was reported be coordinating the cooperation with Israel.

Iran to reveal condition for nuclear talks

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he will announce the conditions for talks with countries, which voted in favor of the anti-Iran UN resolution next week.

Speaking at a gathering of Friday Prayers leaders in Tehran on Thursday, the Iranian president said that the Islamic Republic would “use its logic to negotiate with the West in a manner that would make them regret their anti-Iran decision.”

“By adopting the [anti-Iran] resolution they made their move and now its our turn,” President Ahmadinejad added.

He went on to say that while certain countries consider the anti-Iran 1929 Resolution as an indication of their strength and Iran's weakness, the adoption of the resolution signaled the Islamic Republic's power.

The UN Security Council approved on June 9 a US-drafted resolution to impose a fourth round of tougher sanctions against Iran.

The sanctions were approved as the International Atomic Energy Agency has in numerous reports asserted that its inspectors and surveillance equipment at Iran's nuclear facilities have found no evidence of diversion in the country's declared nuclear material.

Tehran has rejected the resolution as lacking any legal basis, saying that such punitive measures would only strengthen the Iranian nation's resolve in its pursuit of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

'US sanctions will not stop Iran progress'

Iranian lawmakers say new unilateral sanctions by the US cannot undermine the Islamic Republic's determination to pursue peaceful nuclear activities.

The US Congress on Thursday endorsed new unilateral sanctions targeting Iran's energy and banking sectors on top of a fourth round of sanctions approved by the United Nations Security Council earlier in May.

"Americans in recent months have done their utmost to pressure Iran to give up its inalienable right to peaceful nuclear energy but got no result," IRNA quoted Hossein Sobhaninia as saying on Friday.

This caused the US administration to reach a “political deadlock,” he said, describing the recent sanctions by the US Congress as “hasty measures to help Washington exit this impasse and its internal crisis.”

Sobhaninia said the US would not succeed in achieving its goals, given long years of US-led sanctions against the Iranian nation, adding that the move would only "promote unity and stability" in Iran.

The lawmaker vowed Tehran's determination to use “all its diplomatic capacity to fight off the sanctions by clarifying its just policies across the world” and said that the energy-stripped, recession-stricken West would be the real loser of this game.

"The US has imposed the most sanctions against Iran so far and it realizes the futility of such measures the most," said lawmaker Ismail Kowsari.

“Americans are well aware that such measures are aimed at helping their country out of the deadlock over Iran's just nuclear stance and this is why the sanctions have not yielded any results so far,” he added.

“By adopting such measures the US seeks to derail Iran from its just path and discourage it from reaching its goals but they are wasting their time and unless their leaders change their obstinate and malevolent ways against Iran they will get nowhere."

Kowsari stressed that real dialogue could only be achieved by respecting the sovereignty and independence of other nations.

While the US possesses and has used nuclear weapons in the past, Washington, in a politically-motivated move, is imposing unilateral sanctions against Iran, which does not possess nuclear weapons nor does it seek to develop such weapons.

    Russia slams unilateral Iran sanctions

Russia has slammed unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and the European Union against Iran, warning them against risking Russian business interests.

"We do not support them. We think they are totally wrong in substance and in tactics," Russian ambassador to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, told reporters in Brussels on Friday.

"We will certainly not accept any infringement of the rights and of the activities of Russian companies on the basis of those unilateral decisions," he said.

The remarks came in response to a move by the US and the European bloc to impose sanctions on Iran's oil and gas sectors -- measures beyond the fourth round of UN Security Council sanctions approved in May.

The Russian diplomat, whose country along with other veto-wielding members of Security Council approved the US-brokered sanctions, criticized the follow-on measures by the European Union as "not clever."

"If you want to dissuade Iran from pursuing a nuclear program ... then why the hell are you banning the supply of equipment for the oil and gas industry?" AFP quoted Chizhov as saying.

The Russia envoy criticized the sanctions for hindering diplomatic efforts to solve the West's standoff with Iran over its nuclear program because Iranian officials "will immediately sense a difference of views" among world powers.

Expressing concern over the interference of the sanctions with Russian business interests in Iran, the envoy warned that the move could affect Moscow's cooperation with the EU on Tehran's nuclear program.

Russia's cooperation with the European Union "will certainly depend on the degree to which the EU will be taking into consideration our sensitivities regarding the interests of Russian companies involved," Chizhov said.

The United States and Israel have managed to persuade the EU to oppose Iran's nuclear activities over alleged concerns that Tehran might be seeking nuclear weapons — a claim repeatedly rejected as politically-motivated by the Islamic Republic.

The allegations and the unilateral sanctions against Iran come while the US possesses a nuclear arsenal and has used atomic weapons in the past.

    Default Israel MUST Stand Down

    In my opinion...

Israel must not attack Iran and must resist the pressure from the Western elitists who are trying very hard right now to goad them into an attack.

If an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities were to be done, Israel would need to commit the majority of its air force to the mission. The risk is too great and the losses of planes and pilots would leave Israel's skies defenseless. A failure of the mission would embolden Israel's enemies like nothing ever before has done and would virtually guarantee a simultaneous multi-national attack on several borders.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must stand down. The consequences to Israel are catastrophic if he does not.

I have always warned over the years that the Iran War must not be allowed to happen.

    1) If Israel carries out the attack, then Israel will not long survive before being conquered by a simultaneous multi-front war launched by the Muslim nations. That is what the timeline looks like if Israel launches its planes to Iran.

    2) If the Americans carry out the attack, Israel will survive in that timeline, but the consequences for the whole world will be catastrophic.

3)If the Iran War never happens, there is hope for us in that timeline.

    Best Regards,
    Merkhava

Iran canceled the aid flotilla and decided to use Hezbollah to prod Israel into action through Lebanon...

Quote TORONTO (Reuters) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Sunday he was alarmed by U.S. assertions that Iran may have enough fuel for two nuclear weapons and warned that if confirmed the Islamic Republic may face new measures.

Central Intelligence Agency Director Leon Panetta told ABC's "This Week" television program that the agency thinks Iran has enough low-enriched uranium now for two weapons, but that Tehran would have to further enrich the material first.

"As to this information -- it needs to be checked," Medvedev told reporters in Toronto, where he was attending the Group of 20 summit of rich and emerging nations.

"In any case, such information is always alarming because today the international community does not recognize the Iranian nuclear program as transparent," Medvedev said.

Russian leaders rarely comment on CIA statements and Medvedev's sharp comments indicate the gulf that has grown between Moscow and Tehran over recent months.

The Kremlin and Tehran had a public row last month after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad admonished the Kremlin for bowing to what he said was U.S. pressure to agree further sanctions.

    'Attacking Iran, incredibly destabilizing'

Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen warns that any military action against Iran would be "incredibly destabilizing" to the region.

The US and Israel understand that the use of force against Iran would be "incredibly destabilizing," Mullen said addressing the Aspen Security Forum on Monday.

The top US military official, however, renewed allegations that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons under the guise of peaceful nuclear work and said that that there is "no reason to trust" Iran.

According to Mullen, who had previously threatened Tehran with military options, Iran's access to nuclear weapons would be "incredibly dangerous" for the Islamic Republic.

The top US commander also expressed skepticism that the exertion of sanctions would be an effective tool to make Iran relinquish its nuclear activities.

Mullen's statements came in the wake of the estimations of CIA Director Leon Panetta who said on Sunday that he "thinks" Iran was in possession of enough low-enriched uranium to produce two atomic weapons within two years.

In an interview with ABC's "This Week", Panetta stressed that there was "some debate" as to whether Iran would be interested in making a nuclear weapon, but that the hypothetical step would take the country at least two years.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed a fourth round of sanctions on Iran as punishing measures against the country's nuclear program. The UN sanctions were followed by a series of unilateral sanctions approved by the US Congress on Iran's energy and banking sectors.

The UNSC resolution was approved despite the opposition of 118 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, which backed Iran's right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The United States along with its Western allies have been accusing Iran of seeking military objectives in its nuclear program. Iran, a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty rejects the allegations, arguing that all its nuclear program and activities are under the full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Obama DOCTRINE: Congress Just Declared Preemptive WAR on Iran

War with Iran has already been decided by the powers that be and the modern-day quasi-declaration happened last Thursday. Using the same legislative and propaganda playbook that led to the Iraq War, the U.S. Government has just officially declared War on Iran. Reuters reported “Congress on Thursday approved tough new unilateral sanctions aimed at squeezing Iran’s energy and banking sectors, which could also hurt companies from other countries doing business with Tehran. The House of Representatives passed the bill 408-8 and sent it to President Barack Obama for signing into law. The Senate had approved it 99-0 earlier in the day.”

Congress hasn’t officially voted for a Declaration of War since World War II. In modern times they use creative wording in bills that authorize the broad use of force across borders in the sweeping “War on Terror.” The Bush Doctrine of preemptively attacking countries because they may pose a threat to America in the future was universally trashed by progressives, but is alive and well under Obama, the Prince of Peace, without one dissenting vote in the Senate. This authority is what the Obama Administration claims also gives them the legal argument to bomb sovereign countries likePakistan.

This unilateral decision by the United States Congress comes on the heels of a 12-2 U.N. Security Council vote on June 8th to impose a “modest tightening of sanctions” against Iran. Of course, Russia and China have been assured that sanctions won’t apply to their energy needs in order to secure their votes. After the vote President Obama asserted that, “these sanctions do not close the door on diplomacy.”

Israel to spy on Iran with new satellite

Israel says it has launched a new spy satellite in a southern military base which will reportedly enable Tel Aviv to spy on Iran's nuclear facilities.

"A few minutes ago…Israel launched the Ofek-9 (Horizon-9) satellite from the Palmachim base," AFP quoted the Israeli Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement on Tuesday.

"The results of the launch are being examined by the technical team," the statement added.

The ministry did not elaborate on the satellite, but Israel's public radio said the device, like its predecessors in the Ofek series, is cable of taking high resolution pictures.

Developed by Israel Aircraft Industries and launched on a Shavit rocket, the satellite is aimed at monitoring Iran's nuclear program, the radio added.

According to director of Israel's military space program Chaim Eshed, the Ofek-9 -- which is Israel's sixth spy satellite in space -- is expected to increase the speed at which Israel can receive high-resolution images of subjects of interest.

Israel, the Middle East's sole wielder of nuclear weapons and believed to own an arsenal of 200-300 nuclear warheads, accuses Iran of making efforts to produce nuclear weapons.

This is while the International Atomic Energy Agency has in numerous reports asserted that its inspectors and surveillance equipment have found no evidence of diversion in Iran's declared nuclear material.

Iran is well aware of the Zionist plans and are not afraid of broadcasting it. They are a major obstacle in achieving NWO and Israel (government) and its whores are trying to eradicate the ‘problem’ but lets hope they have got more than they bargained for. Time will tell.

Iran's Parliament speaker says the existing Western pressure on the country has its roots in the stance adopted by the Tehran government on the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

Speaking in a meeting with Hamas political leader Khaled Mashaal late Tuesday, Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani dismissed the ongoing pressure on the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program as politically motivated.

He went on to explain that based on information disclosed by a foreign minister from a country which is a permanent UN Security Council member, if Iran makes a compromise with the West over the Palestinian issue, all pressure will be eliminated.

"Our main problem with you is not over your nuclear dossier. Even if Iran builds a nuclear bomb, we won't have any problem with it," Larijani quoted the unnamed foreign minister as saying.

"Our problem with Iran is over the Palestinian-Israeli issue and should we reach an agreement on that we will have no problem with Tehran," he added.

NY police 'beat up' Iranian professor

A US-based Iranian university professor and senior political analyst, Kaveh Afrasiabi, says he has been brutally beaten up by police officers in New York.

Speaking to IRNA on Tuesday, professor Afrasiabi explained about the unusual manner in which he was arrested, saying that he was handcuffed and sent to jail under the pretext that he had not paid his traffic ticket.

"While handcuffed I was pushed to the front. Then my head hit a metal rod and I was seriously wounded. I was then sent to the hospital in an ambulance due to severe injuries," said Afrasiabi who could hardly speak.

After he was discharged from the hospital, the police took him to court where the judge ordered his release.

Afrasiabi said his arrest came over a traffic ticket which he had to pay 25 years ago.

Afrasiabi has taught political science at Tehran University, Boston University, and Bentley College. He has also been a visiting scholar at Harvard University, UC Berkeley and Binghamton University.

The Iranian professor, who is a former consultant to the UN program of Dialogue Among Civilizations, has appeared on numerous television talk shows, including Press TV, CNN, MSNBC and Al-Jazeera. He has also worked as a consultant to CBS's 60 Minutes program.

He has also authored the book After Khomeini: New Directions in Iran's Foreign Policy' and is a co-author of Reading in Iran Foreign Policy After September 11.

Israeli Nuclear Espionage: The Art of Keeping America at Risk for Fun and Profit

This week, newspapers around the world received reports and signed documents from South Africa. The reports said that, in 1975, Israel agreed to sell South Africa nuclear weapons. South Africa then released an arms agreement signed by current Israeli President Shimon Peres. This is the document “heard round the world.”

Meetings are being held in New York to set up a conference for 2012 to guarantee that the Middle East is nuclear free. Israel has been informed that it will not be able to hide behind denials and that the nuclear arsenal put on the sale block by Israel in 1975, and nobody knows how many times since, has to go. When Israel was finally caught, it changed at least one part of a game, but the game will go on.

What does it mean? Neither South Africa nor Israel is admitting that the nukes were delivered. General beliefs are that they were, a real shock to Nelson Mandela when he took office, from prisoner of apartheid to commander of a nuclear power. What is proven by this is that Israel was, even 35 years ago, a nuclear state, in direct violation of numerous international treaties. It also proves that Israel offered nukes to South Africa, a rogue nation under sanctions that covered not only any weapons but trade as well. This made Israel a criminal state and Mr. Peres a war criminal.

More than that, it makes any aid America gives Israel illegal. If Israel is nuclear, which is now official, and in violation of international treaties, just as with Iraq and Iran, then America has to demand inspections and disarmament. There is no choice. This is the law. Law for Iran, law for Iraq is also law for Israel. Israel has expected this day for years. The US can’t give or sell arms to any country with an illegal nuclear arsenal. Worse than this, we are sworn to defend the world from any nation that would spread nuclear weapons, a charge made by the South African government, one that has been made before, but can no longer be ignored.
