Is your TV spying on you?
    Published on Nov 21, 2013

So-called "smart TVs" have hit the marketplace, essentially turning TVs into computers that let watchers search for videos, install applications or interact with ads. But that connectivity may be a two-way street, as manufacturer LG investigates claims that its line of smart TVs is collecting data on its customers. According to an LG corporate video, "LG Smart Ad analyses users' favorite programs, online behavior, search keywords and other information to offer relevant ads to target audiences.

For example, LG Smart Ad can feature sharp suits to men or alluring cosmetics and fragrances to women." But what happens when your online behavior trends just a bit naughtier than clothes or cosmetics? Meghan Lopez talks to RT web producer Andrew Blake about spying smart TVs and other trending tech topics in this week's Tech Report.

So, Vitalux, should we just "go along to get along"? When do we say, that's enough. When do we stand up and claim our heritage as living souls and not be the corporate fiction? When do we stop these corporate vultures from absconding the energy and resources of the planet for their own aggrandizement, by sending their mercenaries out to arrest and hassle us?

Everyone needs to learn the difference between the corporate fiction and the real man. Everyone needs to realize that THEY are the asset which makes the whole thing run, their very energy is what is being vampired, pledged, leveraged, bonded, and stolen.

    I've had enough. Have you?

I'm not a fan of the Gettysburg Address because I had to memorize it in the 7th grade:

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal…"

That's all I remember. Humm, never thought about what the words mean. I parroted them back for a test grade.

    bwahaha!!!
LOL, Paula... gee, and I thought it was bad that I could still remember all fifty states in alphabetical order to melody!

Alabama... Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado.... Connecticut!

    I'll stop now.

"Selfie" is Oxford's Word for 2013
    Published on Nov 22, 2013

The editors at Oxford Dictionaries have chosen their word for 2013: selfie. This is great proof how we're all becoming more and more self-obsessed, and how the Internet feeds into that. It'd be great if we strove to do better for next year, to be less concerned with pointing our cameras at ourselves and more concerned with pointing them at subjects that need our attention.

Police Find Hidden Compartment in Man’s Car, But No Drugs or Illegal Items - So Why Was He Arrested?

    Quick link here @ 6:11

    Article from theBlaze.com:

Police in Lorain County, Ohio, arrested a man Wednesday after they found a hidden compartment on his vehicle. When officers opened the compartment, they found no drugs or illegal substances – yet the man was still arrested charged with a felony.

Officers were able to make the arrest under the state’s new “hidden compartment” law, which is intended to deter criminals who modify their cars to store and transport drugs or weapons.
Police initially pulled over 30-year-old Norman Gurley for speeding, but then noticed “several wires running to the back of the car,” WKYC-TV reports. The wires led the cops to a hidden compartment.

Hi Violet, below is the update:

My guess is that Mr. Tertegte is using the Strawman Theory

“The theory holds that an individual has two personas, one of themselves as a real flesh and blood human being and the other, a separate legal personality or person (usually written in CAPITALS) who is the "strawman". The idea is that an individual’s debts, liabilities, taxes and legal responsibilities belong to the strawman rather than the physical individual themselves, conveniently allowing one to escape their debts and responsibilities.”

I think I heard Mr. Maxwell explain that once.

However it would've been better for him had he respected speaking turns. In terms of being heard and taken seriously (to whatever possible extent).

I listened to the end and he wasn't found guilty. He was taken away. He did state that someone "will speak as my voice". The title is misleading. Maybe there’s another video to follow. (UPDATE: No follow up video as yet.)

It's gusty. I don't know enough about the Strawman Theory, but Mr. Tertegte interrupted to clarify whenever the court used their jargon that is designed to strip away all that a free person represents. They’ve gotten away with it because it’s not challenged.

The central issue was the greater message. That to the court system, we are property and have no inalienable rights as recognized by the Constitution of the United States.

    Inalienable

Not subject to sale or transfer; inseparable.
That which is inalienable cannot be bought, sold, or transferred from one individual to another. The personal rights to life and liberty guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States are inalienable. Similarly, various types of property are inalienable, such as rivers, streams, and highways.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a trade deal that countries along the Pacific Rim have been negotiating in secret for several years, yet bragging that it could be the biggest trade agreement in history, addressing everything from food to medicine to intellectual property. As Wal-Mart Workers Plan Record Black Friday Protests, Study Says Retail Giant Can Afford Higher Pay

“...photo surfaced online of a sign made by workers at one of its stores in Ohio. The sign was taped to a table and read: "Please Donate Food Items Here, so Associates in Need Can Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner."

    Published on Nov 26, 2013

    http://www.democracynow.org

As Black Friday approaches, Wal-Mart workers and activists are planning another round of protests and strikes at the nation's largest employer on the biggest shopping day of the year. The Black Friday protests come at a time of heightened scrutiny for the company. It made headlines last week when a photo surfaced online of a sign made by workers at one of its stores in Ohio. The sign was taped to a table and read: "Please Donate Food Items Here, so Associates in Need Can Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner."

Wal-Mart says the food drive shows the company tries to help its workers. But critics say it reveals the low wages Wal-Mart pays them. The National Labor Relations Board also ruled last week that Wal-Mart violated the rights of striking workers. We are joined by Catherine Ruetschlin, a policy analyst at Demos who co-authored the new report, "A Higher Wage is Possible: How Wal-Mart Can Invest in Its Workforce Without Costing Customers a Dime." We also speak with Barbara Collins, a former Wal-Mart employee fired after last year's Black Friday strike. Collins speaks to us from Bentonville, Arkansas, where Wal-Mart's headquarters is located. She has been protesting there since Friday as part of a group of eight fired workers who are demanding their jobs back after the NLRB's ruling that their firing was unfair.

A Higher Wage is Possible: How Walmart Can Invest in Its Workforce Without Costing Customers a Dime

(free pdf download here), also see video above - post #236

The two sides of the “Walmart family” are experiencing sharply divergent fortunes. On the one hand, the Walton heirs have inherited wealth that expands each year. On the other, the workers who contribute to generating this wealth every day must often choose between buying food or keeping the electricity on. This gap within the Walmart family of stakeholders is illustrative of business decisions that drive economic inequality, depress consumer spending, and put the American Dream out of reach for many hardworking families. Walmart is far from the only company fueling this trend, but as the nation’s largest private employer, it has unparalleled ability to shift course and make the rest of the nation stand up and take notice.

    KEY POINTS:
    • Walmart workers and a growing number of community supporters are taking a stand this holiday season, calling for wage increases and sufficient hours on the job to earn the modest income of $25,000 a year. This brief explores one way to pay for raises.
    • Walmart spent $7.6 billion last year to buy back shares of its own stock. The buybacks did nothing to boost Walmart’s productivity or bottom
line. If these funds were redirected to Walmart’s low-wage workers, they would each see a raise of $5.83 an hour.
    • Curtailing share buybacks would not damage the company’s competitiveness or raise prices for consumers.
    • If Walmart redirected its current spending to invest in its workforce,
the benefits would extend to all stakeholders in the company—customers, stockholders, taxpayers, employees and their families—and the economy as a whole.
