Thumbs down Facebook is Responsible for the “Fall of Humanity”

The “Fall of Humanity” basically means humanity is getting further away from God. I feel like the problem isn’t that people are judging news stories or pictures on Facebook, but each other and each others’ lives and my God does the judging. Facebook is a little mortal judgement machine and it is encouraging sin. Believe me?

Now I will list the sins Facebook is encouraging. Let's start with envy. Ok, we don't need to go any farther because that is bad enough. People that are successful in life and post that on Facebook, others envy like crazy. It causes unneeded suffering.

Pride, the worst one. People are more concerned with their Facebook profiles than that actual real lives.

Gluttony, people are driven by desires on Facebook and are gluttons for Facebook itself.

Lust for sex and stuff is an obvious one. Facebook is all over that.

Anger, Facebook creates conflicts and keeps people in a virtual high school and in some cases college too -- not healthy. Plus we have cyber bullying in addition to that.

Greed, how are those billions Mark? Plus, keeping up with the Joneses has taken on new dimensions on Facebook and that is unhealthy. People are competing to see who has more stuff, bigger houses, nicer cars. Bad.

Sloth, people sit around on Facebook all day.

Well Facebook seems to have been encouraging all the Seven Deadly Sins so in conclusion, I am going to have to agree with the female Angel that told this to me: “Facebook is responsible for the Fall of Humanity”.

    Indeed; I agree.

As we seek external saviors for our ills, we also seek to blame external to our own faults.
The facebook is nothing more nor less than the mirror of our ego.

So what do you propose the solution is?

Then ....when the next human-being rants about the next evil thing that is encouraging all the Seven Deadly Sins...do we attack and vilify that as well?

Perhaps something to consider is there is no crisis outside, but within

Perhaps the angel is peeping over your shoulder when you are on Facebook, if that was the case, maybe she questions the pages you visit yourself, do you have Facebook?

Facebook has provided a forum, an outlet, let's say, for the dark side in humanity that you so well described, 3 generations.

What other members point out is also true. Facebook in itself does not change the fact that humans have these traits. However, it does make it easy and by way of being fashionable and due to peer pressure, it encourages vices to be laid out, extended and applauded. That is worrisome.

On the whole, the world felt like a much more decent place before internet was charitably sprinkled upon the masses (and before television too, though I have not lived those days). And we all know that even then porn existed, even then people were jealous of one another, competing falsely with one another, etc.

But by having these things so visible on an everyday basis (television, computer) that one gets accustomed to it, a world has been created where vile and foul have become the new chique. One is only left to wonder what the next level of vileness then is to be.

Tell me more about the angel, please.

Without all the hyperbole, and looking at it from an objective perspective you can see how social media is completely changing society. I use facebook a bit, but have never used twitter... Whenever I log in there is always a selection of stories that FB things I would find of the most interest, as well as products it thinks i will buy. Clearly thee profiling has come from internet searches that I have done for research purposes since I don't really want to be looking at going into the armed forces.

I agree, they are not healthy. Bringing the whole god thing in though.... I would prefer not to go to that length.
I am the underdog, I am one of many faces,

There was a book published in 1995 called A is for Ox. Basically, studies in the 1990s showed that the less children read books, wrote stories and engaged with storytelling (theatre, sitting around a campfire, and so on), the more likely they were to become violent and destructive.

    http://www.amazon.com/books/dp/0679742859

Reading physical books, writing, participating in storytelling are essential for the self-reflection required to transcend the brutal destructiveness of scarcity thinking and all that ensues from that.

What can you do? Turn off the TV, restrict Internet and smart phone access in your home and get your children to read and write. Start or join a book club and a writing club in your community.

The Internet, TV, and social media are very useful if we have the foundations in place for self-reflection, critical thinking, and creative thinking, and we get this from reading books, writing and storytelling.

Humanity is experiencing the challenges of technological advancement. I believe that many civilisations in the universe had not survived these challenges (those who have, have heard our broadcasts and found us). We have all the information we need to make the choices that will enable us (humans living on this planet) to survive and advance to truly become 'expandingly' advanced citizens of our galaxy and then the universe.

If anyone is interested in exploring the ideas that emerged from the studies referenced in the book A is for ox, let me know if you want to have a conversation about this book.

    No it isn't.

Humanity is responsible. Humanity is responsible for facebook.

Each of us is responsible for our part of the whole.

Its no good blaming other things or trying to deflect this core issue - we are all connected, and we are all part of God.

As I write that this comes back to mind... and Mr Donne explains it so much better than I can.

Quote No man is an island,
    Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
    A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
    Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
    Or of thine own were:
    Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
    And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
    It tolls for thee.
We are not far from God, it is impossible to be far from that which is all. We are that!

However, we express almost total freedom in this material realm and boy what a challenge that is showing itself to be.

    Decisions decisions....

I think this falls into the same category of "MacDonalds/Coke/etc..." - (take your pick) "is responsible for obesity". No,... they aren't. It's about free will and taking responsibilty for our choices.

It is not the medium or the method that should be blamed for societies/humanities ills or lack of courtesy(if you are referring to the current technologically biased generation)---but the operator---h/she uses the social network (as they sadly call it--when I was a kid--your social network were the kids you physically played and spent time with)
But I digress---do not blame the medium as set forth--- the mores instilled in the population are changing---isolation is charted to a degree(with the advent of a myriad of solitary games)---creating better and easier ways to perpetuate the ego myth
IE--it is easier to bolster the ego by appearing to have an indeterminate amount of friends(that are in some ways--purely imaginary) this is becoming almost a universal mandate

Freedom of choice as to whether to use this medium--or channel your energies elsewhere---in essence(treading thin ice here)--doesn't it also encompass forums or any other type of non-physical avenue?
Do we not get an ego boost here as well when we are thanked fictitiously by members who in all estimation we will never meet--or in some ways are illusionary?
Ego and fear of loss of it--is humanities driving force- what better way to encourage it?
Spirituality and compassion are not the forerunners anymore-if they ever truly were: There are some beings that exhibit a compassionate loving nature for all and do not fear the repercussions of ego death that controls the actions for so many
That is the downfall--how we praise the Ego--and all the ways we learn or are conditioned to empower it.
