Default THE SYRIA SITUATION : NEWS + UPDATES (merged threads)

    Looks like nerve gas.

    http://www.news.com.au/world-news/ch...-1226701659386

The allegations of gassing civilians dwarfed all previous such accounts in the increasingly bloody civil war.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights reported that 647 Syrians were killed in the attacks, and it attributed nearly 590 of those deaths to chemical weapons.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, considered the most authoritative group tracking casualties in the conflict, estimated at least 136 dead from an air assault but didn't address whether chemical weapons appeared to be involved.

Videos distributed by activists, the authenticity of which could not immediately be verified, showed medics attending to suffocating children and hospitals being overwhelmed.

When will we all stand up together and put an end to this madness?

This is a terrible tragedy, whatever cause of death was. There is some informed opinion that the available footage does not suggest nerve gas - but only an investigation on the ground can establish the truth.

    Horrific.
Am strongly of the opinion the perpetrators of this heinous crime are Zionists. The Jewish Masonic Banker Elite cartel tugging the strings of Secret Government in the EU, Switzerland, Israel and the USA.

The same Elite that blanket control the media. Television viewers will lap it up - dumb as . . .

The globalist corruption is so obvious now that the impending financial crash should see some interesting adornments hanging from lamp posts soon. We will witness the "stars fall" of change around us.

This had nothing to do with President Sadat or his regime. There have been too many Israeli attacks via drone and cruise missiles into Syria to apportion blame on Syria. The Elite cartel and their agencies are secretly "sub contracting" security mercenary Corporations for just these genocidal roles. The Elite cartel are the Swiss Banking elite. The Elite cartel are the military industrial complex. The Elite cartel were the commissioners of the Georgia Guidestones. The Elite cartel owns the governing rights to the EU, Israel, USA, and pretty much the rest of the world too.

soooo glad you posted this, last time I checked Syria was not one of the states of America ... I pray we stay out of any business with the middle east, and take care of home ... I heard all the talking heads and their talking points on this today, beating the war drum it made me ill ... they don't have to carry a weapon and shoot people they never met , be away from home for at least two years, sleep in the sand and eat dried meals , roast in the desert sun with sand in every thing that has a crack in it , not to mention get shot at, bombed ...

It is always concerning when images and footage are shown to the world. It is always in someone's interest to provoke reaction to such matters. The first causality in war is the truth. With the break up of Yugoslavia and the war that raged afterwards many images were shown, and proven afterwards that some were faked to give sympathy to one particular faction.

Here a news article from January saying Obama backed it. I think its the same article.
    http://in.news.yahoo.com/us-backed-p...045648224.html

US 'backed plan to launch chemical weapon attack on Syria, blame it on Assad govt':

London, Jan 30 (ANI): The Obama administration gave green signal to a chemical weapons attack plan in Syria that could be blamed on President Bashar al Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country, leaked documents have shown.
A new report, that contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence, showed a scheme 'approved by Washington'.
As per the scheme 'Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons,' the Daily Mail reports.
Barack Obama made it clear to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that the U.S. would not tolerate Syria using chemical weapons against its own people.
According to Infowars.com, the December 25 email was sent from Britam's Business Development Director David Goulding to company founder Philip Doughty.
The emails were released by a Malaysian hacker who also obtained senior executives resumes and copies of passports via an unprotected company server, according to Cyber War News.
According to the paper, the U.S. State Department has declined to comment on the matter. (ANI)

This smells really bad to me. Why would Assad use chemical weapons at the same time as the arrival of UN inspectors looking for proof of the use of those weapons? It just seems almost to convenient, it wouldn't surprise me if the opposition has something to do with it to generate support for their side of the conflict and/or to draw the US, UK, and the rest further into this conflict.

Mainstream news media is spinning an agenda here. The media is very limited and manipulative, it is interesting that this story isn't mentioned on the BBC and I doubt whether a question will be raised in the House of Commons. The mainstream media here are (some of them) in bed with those in power, not just the politicians but those that control the system. The US wants Syrian Regime gone, or the western powers...or some darker force.

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - CBS News has learned that the Pentagon is making the initial preparations for a cruise missile attack on Syrian government forces. We say "initial preparations" because such an attack won't happen until the president gives the green light. And it was clear during an interview on CNN Friday that he is not there yet.

"If the U.S. goes in and attacks another country, without a U.N. mandate and without clear evidence that can be presented," the president told CNN, "then there are questions in terms of whether international law supports it -- 'do we have the coalition to make it work?' Those are considerations that we have to take into account."

An attack on suburbs in Damascus suburbs has left hundreds dead. Poison gas used is suspected. / CBS News
The attack on the Damascus suburbs, which left hundreds dead this week, is looking more and more like a poison gas was used. The United States warned Syria months ago that using chemical weapons could provoke a U.S. response.

U.S. detected activity at Syria chemical weapons sites before attack
Hundreds dead in Syria after alleged chemical weapons attack
Syria opposition group claims 1,300 killed in chemical attack in Damascus suburbs

President Obama's national security adviser, Susan Rice, sent out a Tweet on Friday, calling what happened "an apparent CW (chemical weapons) attack." And the commander of U.S. forces in the Mediterranean has ordered Navy warships to move closer to Syria to be ready for a possible cruise missile strike.

U.S. warships are moving closer to Syria for a possible cruise missile attack; but such an action has yet to be approved by President Obama / CBS
Launching cruise missiles from the sea would not risk any American lives. It would be a punitive strike designed not to topple Syrian dictator Bashir Assad but to convince him he cannot get away with using chemical weapons.

Watch a report on Syrian activists gathering evidence to prove chemical attack:

Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey is expected to present options for a strike at a White House meeting on Saturday.

Potential targets include command bunkers and launchers used to fire chemical weapons.

However, officials stress President Obama, who until now has steadfastly resisted calls for military intervention, has not made a decision.

U.S. intelligence detected activity at known Syrian chemical weapons sites in the days before the attack. At the time that did not appear out of the ordinary. But now it is part of the circumstantial evidence pointing toward an attack.

The clearest evidence would come from a team of U.N. experts already in Damascus to investigate earlier, smaller scale incidents involving suspected chemical weapons. So far they have not been allowed into the field. But with pictures providing graphic evidence of mass casualties, even Russia -- long one of the Assad regime's staunchest backers -- is calling for a U.N. investigation.

Whatever an investigation finds, the president will also have to consider what he would do next if he ordered a strike and Syria continued to use chemical weapons.

Watch CBS News correspondent Holly Williams' report on the Syrian victims in the aftermath of the Damascus suburbs attack:

Meanwhile in Syria, two days after the alleged poison gas attack, more disturbing video has emerged of the aftermath. From it comes horrific scenes that show the dead and the dying -- many of them children.

One young boy described struggling to breathe and then losing consciousness. When he woke up in the hospital, he said, he could no longer see.

It's impossible to verify how many people died. But in a crowded, makeshift morgue, so many of the bodies were unidentified -- they were numbered.

Dr. Ghazwan Bwidany is caring for survivors of the attack at a clinic in Damascus. On Friday, CBS News spoke with him over the Internet. He said his mobile medical unit treated 900 people -- 70 of whom died.

"When you see these children," said Bwidany, "dying in front of our eyes, this is a very terrible feeling. I can't describe it."

Watch this video below of a Syrian mother saying goodbye to her children who were killed after reported gas attack:

Dr. Bwidany said some of the survivors have neurological problems, such as memory loss and confusion, that he believes could only be caused by a nerve agent.

So if this wasn't a chemical attack, what could it have been? "I don't know anything else that could make these symptoms, with this large number of injured," he said.

CBS News talked with a spokesman for the Syrian opposition Friday, who said he was angry and frustrated with the international community. He believes that if U.S. had delivered the arms it promised the opposition two months ago, the deadly attack may not have happened.

Despite President Obama cautioning against intervention in Syria, the Pentagon is making “initial preparations” for a cruise missile attack on Syrian government forces, according to a new report.

Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey is expected to present options for such a strike at a White House meeting on Saturday, CBS News reported on Friday.

President Barack Obama is under renewed pressure to take action following the emergence of footage of what appears to be the aftermath of a toxic agent attack in a Damascus suburb on Wednesday. The forces of President Bashar Assad were assaulting a rebel stronghold in the district at the time, but deny responsibility. Moscow, which has maintained close ties with the regime, called the incident a rebel “provocation” possibly designed to derail upcoming Geneva peace talks.

Questioned on the continuing upheaval in Syria and Egypt during a CNN interview Friday, President Obama said the United States should be wary “being drawn into very expensive, difficult, costly interventions that actually breed more resentment in the region.”

Obama went on to express reservations for involvement in the 30-month Syrian conflict based on lack of international consensus.

"If the US goes in and attacks another country without a UN mandate and without clear evidence that can be presented, then there are questions in terms of whether international law supports it, [and] do we have the coalition to make it work?” said Obama.

U.S. Navy expanding presence in Mediterranean due to Syria: official

    World »
    Aerospace & Defense »
    WASHINGTON | Fri Aug 23, 2013 8:13pm EDT
(Reuters) - The U.S. Navy will expand its presence in the Mediterranean with a fourth cruise-missile armed warship because of the escalating civil war in Syria, a defense official said on Friday.

The USS Mahan had finished its deployment and was due to head back to its home base in Norfolk, Virginia, but the commander of the U.S. Sixth Fleet has decided to keep the ship in the region, the defense official said.

The official, who was not authorized to speak publicly, stressed that the Navy had received no orders to prepare for any military operations regarding Syria.

U.S. officials are considering a range of options for responding to reports that Syria has used chemical weapons against civilians, including possible cruise missile attacks from the sea, a senior defense official told Reuters earlier.

We are induced to every minute of the day to believe that wars and conflicts exist because humans have this nature.
    That's a lie.
Kabbalah induces us to think this way, because then we can not envision a world different from that imposed by themselves.
Humans are much better and skillful when acting under the power of love.
The heroics and loving acts not are news.
The battle for our souls will intensify, and we are our own army.
Well, if I'm here is because my spirit has no doubt that I can overcome this challenge.
    We will be well prepared.
After all we are part of everything that exists.

    Quiet but attentive.
    Hugs.

How does Kabbalah induce us to think this way? Where does Kabbalah say that humans have a warlike nature?

    Is it the Khazarian version?

    Getting back to topic--

Isn't Syria one of the last few remaining nations without a central bank?

The civil war in Syria has caused a momentary halt to Australia's federal election campaign, with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd returning to Canberra for a briefing on the unfolding crisis.

Rudd flew back to the nation's capital on Saturday to speak with national security officials, and to work with officials on Australia's response to claims Syrian forces had used chemical weapons on civilians.

The opposition leader, Tony Abbott, said it was is entirely appropriate that Rudd returned from Sydney, where he had been campaigning.

In line with caretaker government conventions, Abbott will be given equal national security briefings.

Rudd told reporters he was calling a brief halt to his campaign to consider the matter in all its detail.

"And I'm not about to make any rushed or rash judgements about what the country should do next," Rudd said.

"We take our alliance obligations seriously, we take our caretaker convention's obligations seriously.

"But my first responsibility as the prime minister of the country is to make sure these matters are being attended to thoroughly and carefully."

US President Barack Obama has said allegations of chemical weapons use were a "grave concern".

Rudd said he had noted carefully what Obama said "as this recent event is one which he and the government of the United States is viewing with great concern".

"The Australian government views this development with equal concern," he said.

Rudd spoke on the phone to UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon about actions in the UN security council.

He has also discussed the issue with the US ambassador to Australia, Jeff Bleich.

Campaigning in Adelaide, Abbott said it was entirely appropriate for Rudd to be briefed.

"Obviously terrible things are happening in that country," he said.

"It's very important that United Nations inspectors be allowed in to get to the bottom of exactly what has happened.

"I hope the international community is able to do what it can to try to ensure that the bloodshed ceases and ordinary human rights are once more respected."

He dismissed suggestions that he too should be rushing back to Canberra for security briefings, rather than continuing his campaign.

"I'm looking forward to receiving briefings, but I think it's quite possible for briefings to be had while I'm on the road," he said.

"I don't for a second underplay the seriousness of this situation, and I entirely support the prime minister receiving briefings."

Abbott and his deputy, Julie Bishop, will be briefed on Sunday by the head of the department of foreign affairs and trade, Peter Varghese, in Brisbane.

French television (France) and Québec are both mentioning that there is nothing certain about the Assad government using those gaz.

Furthermore, there has been a mini serie titled: "Saddam's house". It was very interesting, giving for example the reasons that made Saddam attack Koweit in the nineties, when Bush 1st was president (they are dynasties, as in the Arab world, so I will call him Bush 1st).

Irak has just won the war against Iran (backed by USA) and was completely depleted of revenues and needed to make money with its petroleum fast. On the other side, Koweit was drilling for oïl and pumping it not from Koweit, but from Irak, the same way Fracking is done, by going parallel once on the ground up to the Iraki oïl reserves. So Irak was losing a bundle that was needed after the war with Iran.

The Koweiti drilling was done by American companies, with American funds, backed by Bush 1st politically.

Saddam did ask the Koweiti to stop quite often, but the Koweiti knowing they were backed by Bush 1st did not want to stop stealing the Iraki oïl.

It seems that Saddam saw no other choice than attack, even if his military chief was against it, not wanting to confront the American. Saddam thought the American would not get involved. He was not aware of how much Bush 1st wanted their oïl and other treasures.

Saddam was also described as a despot, its actions against its people being described as well, I think the serie was balanced.

Same goes for Syria. The truth is not what we hear and the plan are global hegemony, from Americans as well as Russians and Chinese.

Of all the possibilities of our future the most logical is indeed as described in the bible. Ouch - please don't judas me - I don't know anything for sure - but just common sense tells me a galactic ending or supernatural intervention does not have as much merit as we (the human race) doing ourselves in - because in all honesty the ego and it's ambition to be right is its God - those that have lost their souls have nothing left but their ego or whatever you want to call it. They are all in - and if it means destroying the world as we know it - no big deal. All they have is this and the self God of a lie. Like Hitler (his insane ego) said, when his generals asked him to surrender to save the civilians - "they deserve it, they didn't fight hard enough." at that point all life meant nothing to him.
