Someone once said to me that hate is a word so dire that you are capable of killing your brother if you use it towards another.....
Ever since that day ...long ago Ive never used the word to describe my feelings even in the darkest moments, like when my
mother was raped or my nephew was beaten to an inch of his life.... I chose not to be a victim of these people and found the
strength to give my positive energy to my family instead of being lowered to the hateful energy lurking deep inside.....I have the
ability to be powerfully dangerous with no fear....yet I choose to raise above my latent darker side and rise to the enlightened being
writing these words...we are remembering the glory of our full potential...one lesson at a time...bless ya socks

i liked the introduction on the page you linked Mu2143, but you have to join in order to see the video.
Have you watched it yourself? And if so could you point out some things you found valuble in it?

To me it is karma; it's not personal. I'm not wild about the politics in this country, but I've got karma, and everyone of those people exists in me and are a part of my wholeness. Carl Jung's point with owning the shadow side is that we encompass all shadows--we are the darkness, too, that we so often judge.

We can change what we say, but the darkness is still a part of our totality, and instead of denying it and letting it take it's place or objecting to it and trying to deny it or hide it, he recommends we embrace it and integrate it. When we try to deny it in ourselves or think we can push it out, then it starts to rule us. By denying it in ourselves, it gets stronger. I'm not sure people understand what shadow work is: You keep embracing the part of you that you judge outwardly, and see where it exists in you, because if you are resisting it, it's karma and it's a mirror reminding you of who you really are and what you need to integrate and look at.

some have the spiritual resources to resist it to some degree
    some do not
    some embrace it
I agree its part of us all
but in seeing it and not embracing it
it is not really who we are
    unfortunately a goldfish will parish
outside the bowl it was born into.
we sin because we are sinners
we are not sinners because we sin.

I think the difference is seeing
    it for what it is.

as dexter says - its the dark passenger.

I have a dark side. The side of me that will laugh when you trip and hit your knee. It's not who I am though. There's so many layers to me me that it's a day to day thing. Hopefully I'll make better decision next time but you know that's the way life goes.
There will come a day when we know our true history.

Well, according to shadow work and Carl Jung, if we don't embrace it, it will rule us. "We must be prepared to love all that we feared." Certainly not an easy thing, but that's why very few people complete shadow work (it is hard to get past the ego and its defenses), and a reason why the shadow side has such a presence in these times. It's like saying we have very few sins--well, there is a lot of unhealthy pride in that, which is certainly not a reflection of a clean slate.

Now many people may not believe in Jesus, but there are few who disagree with his principles. According to ancient Indian scripture we have more than half a million lives before we even entertain the idea of enlightenment. In those lifetimes we are mostly not perfection. It is just the way it is. If we fear our dark side to the exclusion of it, it will rule us. When we understand it, it can take its rightful place.

I have read the first part , but did not looked at the video. What I do know If you want to change the dark side your dealing with is by changing your self.
Your action like are you willing to give in stead of taking all the time
Are you helping people instead of help your self only (balance)
does action will change the person dark side to light.

Don't try to change your thought that are negative with out doing the above, because then you have no light to change the dark.
It is like trying to make a car move without gas.
Thanks Interesting stuff sounds true to me.

This is a compelling area of our existence, often uncomfortable and certainly confronting-that is why so many people shrink, and shirk addressing this dimension of 'self'
I have a good friend, for instance, for whom his self image must be portrayed in a positive light at any cost-any hint of tripping up, of revealing a 'dark' tinge to his actions, or speech and he
refutes it. When I used to study Philosophy, I was drawn to Existentialism, because of its emphasis on taking ultimate responsibility for your own complete existence-perhaps it is my Catholic upbringing
and education (long since renounced) but the 'Mia Culpa' aspect of accepting that we all have evil thoughts, all have the capacity for destructive actions is pretty basic-but there are many for whom this admission
destroys their carefully manicured self-image; the Ego if you like. I do not like to judge others, but I find myself doing it, I love my wife to the Nth degree but I occasionally get irritated by her and others- and a bad thought creeps in
BUT I do not act on those thoughts, nor do I pursue 'bad' thoughts-I have learnt to allow them to arise, then they fade away-if you accept that they are a part of owning a human brain, operating this flesh suit then the shadow self
eventually integrates. That is how I have dealt with it anyway-forgive the prolonged indulgence.
