Good idea - good responses that have any real thought or are helpful are few and far between. Mostly when I try to get a feel for what others might think on the subject it just makes me feel crappy to see how dumbed down and hateful the majority are. However I will really miss all the brown nosers and suck ups the most.

Only one thing is guaranteed to happen over the next couple years: MASSIVE INFLATION.

Well, now all eyes are on Syria, it is a bit interesting to think about WHY they want everybody to look that in that direction, so you will not be watching what is happening on US soil its self is what comes to mind.

There have been some worrying trends that I have perceived around me too, in particular The Gazet van Antwerpen (GVA) which simply disabled the functionality of reader comments from (basically) all articles due to: too racist, and this after a long period of excessive (and probably exhausting) deletion of abusive reader comments. The newspaper probably feared that it might be portrayed as thé racist's newspaper - which I personally think is a strange worry because everybody knows (for ages) that GVA simply ìs the racist's newspaper, together with Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN) which has consequently gained a number of new readers who can continue letting off online racist steam.

But before disabling the reader comments, in a first stage Gazet van Antwerpen tried to identify its online readers by demanding that they'd only use their real name and real e-mailadress and that this would be checked for authenticity and if false, no access would be granted. News magazine Knack has a similar registration procedure.

So, notice how more and more, playful and anonymous names are looked upon with suspicion and/or banned whereas in the heydays of internet it was one of the most enjoyable things (still is to me), how people come up with some names and how this fits their online (or real) persona.

Next observation are cookies. Cookies were always planted but a recent legislation in (probably the whole) European Union has resulted in websites having pop-ups on their homepage asking you to consent with the cookie policy or leave. Well, some websites will still show you the site's content - be it with the cookie-pop-up pending - but especially a number of Dutch website block all access to the website once you press "no".

The conclusion of these type of events and regulations must be that step by step every real citizen has to be linked to the corresponding online citizen (in the fight against -not only terrorism but gaining popularity- cyber crime.

This process has been sped up after various cyber crimes the most prominent in the news being credit card/online banking data theft and the bullying of teenagers which then as a consequence decide to commit suicide. Also slander, racism, (in some countries) too overt expression of dissenting political views...

There is so much negativity and trolling in YT. They've been trying to combat that for years now. I'm a YT partner and I've been posting videos for years now. I remember, before they changed the format this last time, taking away our personalized pages, where we could create our own backgrounds, YT was like the wild, wild west. It has calmed down a bit, for everyone who remained, but this move probably has to do with clamping down yet again and making it less possible for people to hijack a video or seed it with nastiness, or, even, relevant content from other channels. Taken in conjunction with them cracking down on overtly political and revolutionary sites, it is well in line with the machinations of the corporations to continue to limit absolute freedom of speech, no matter the orientation.

you can still make a video, copy the link and paste it in the comments section of the video you wish to respond to....eh?

divide and conquer, what someone thinks about a subject, can't or won't be seen and read by others who may think the same thing but, be afraid to speak it ... dividing the collective thoughts of everyone around the world ... hmmmmmmmm
