L-Arginine is the immediate precursor of nitric oxide (NO),& commonly mentioned in the treatment of E.D.
I can tell you that on its own its only one piece of a jigsaw puzzle if above is your interest.
I am new & not "fully" sure what discussion is appropriate in forum but am happy to post here or in private message much more on this subject.

I have been curious about Arginine for a while now and would be interested to learn what other pieces fit together in your puzzle.

There was a thread (with video below) a short while ago that touched on the subject:

Wow, thank you Karnax, my interest is lowering blood pressure and cleaning my arteries of the gunk that nowadays life throws at them. A reduction of the risk of heart attack and stroke would be an added bonus too.

Thank you friend for your reply

I've used it on and off for years as a workout supplement. Definitely helps burn fat and build muscle. And in my later years now it does seem to give a little help in E arena. I don't eat beef so I consider it a kind of necessity now. I'm also 52 :D

I take ProArgi-9 Plus a product from SynergyWorldWide. It's said to have a higher quality than other Arginine products that can trigger herpes f.i. You can google for more info.

    Default Re: L-Arginine

My experience with L-Arginine started when I looked for alternative medication after a heart scare. To cut it short I had A-Fib a leaky valve & enlarged left ventricle but I did wake up this morning
The beta blockers prescribed to me gave me symptoms of erectile dysfunction which made me a tad depressed as I couldn't take Viagra,or any similar due to the B.B,s.
I was given a Nitromin spray aka Glyceryl Trinitrate which is the heart spray you take under the tongue not just now in emergencies but also as a pre exercise way to help the heart & open the valves up.
The spray is converted in the body to Nitric Oxide but carries the warning ..The medicines for erectile dysfunction (impotence) listed below must not be used by people taking glyceryl trinitrate, because the combination can produce a severe drop in blood pressure resulting in dizziness, fainting, or even a heart attack: ..sildenafil (Viagra)tadalafil (Cialis)vardenafil (Levitra).
I was like eeek! more bad news...but my doctor grinned & said go with it but just this nothing else & spray under your tongue & do not read what it says on the net about using it on lower parts of the body
So..if we get back to the jigsaw we find a more natural re route which circumvents dis-allowed drugs for those on medication yet as Deadfoot kindly seconded has umm... interesting effects
Apologies Ammit if I slightly side tracked this but its really about Nitric Oxide & the benefits it has on the body in dilating blood vessels allowing better flow etc & its multiple uses & effects

Nitric oxide, or nitrogen oxide, also known as nitrogen monoxide, is a molecule with chemical formula NO. It is a free radical**1** and is an important intermediate in the chemical industry.
In mammals including humans, NO is an important cellular signaling molecule involved in many physiological and pathological processes.**2**] It is a powerful vasodilator with a "short half-life of a few seconds in the blood"..(note this please). Long-known pharmaceuticals such as nitroglycerine and amyl nitrite were discovered, more than a century after their first use in medicine, to be active through the mechanism of being precursors to nitric oxide.
**1**Note the fact its a free radical & we open the discussion hugely involving diet as well & other homeopathic supplements.
**2 Its half life in our blood does make for conjecture in many papers of full proof dosage as a supplement when net sites selling this do not know the buyers, bmi, age,or medical history.

Bottom line Ammit is that by L-Arginine producing N.O. it helps blood flow & pressure from vasolidation. Once the arteries harden, they can never be flexible which then prevents the proper flow of both blood and nutrient to the heart and other organs of the body. When the arteries clog from plaque, this will block the blood flow to the heart and this can lead to a heart attack or stroke and even death.
Taking L-arginine supplements can improve elasticity of the arteries thus leading to a reduction in heart attacks & strokes but there are always side effects.
I described a side effect I found above *grins*

Low levels of nitric oxide production are important in protecting organs such as the heart & liver from ischemic damage, all in all its big news.

Thank you all for your input and Karnax for showing your personal reasoning.

I have been looking at a lot of different alternatives the last few days to the usual pharma ( death pills, as my research has shown ) meds which seem to be given out like smarties. My quack, whom I see very infrequently, he seems to think that if a pill has no effect then by doubling the dose and having another look in a month may have some effect!!!

I have a natural fear of my doctors surgery, I have been known to register higher bp readings then normal and feel almost in a faint situation, like my subconscience is trying to warn me of some impending doom. I am making changes in my life style to help reduce any risks of heart attack or stroke. My medication regime nowadays consists mainly of vitamin supplement's and I was taken aback yesterday when I read constantly that depleted levels of vit c and e can contribute to heart problems.

Part of my regime is to take : Niacin, L-Carnitine, Co-Q10, magnesium, D3, Kelp and vit C.
I also drink filtered and de-chlorenated water with Himalayan natural salt added. My body seems more relaxed and I get the feeling of wellness.

I am eager to see the effects of adding L-Arginine to this list, although the one side effect will not be required at this point in time ;-)

    Many thanks to you all

    Don
Love. peace and Blessings to you all.
