Default Garden Tower Project, maximum yield, minimum space, repost.

Copy of a thread I started in the General forum, it already disappeared to page three or four in under two weeks, imo this is important and the threads here move slower so more opportunity here to possibly benefit from this post as it is very practical in nature and no matter what happens, you still have to eat.

Mods, please let both threads stay up.

Just a copy of the OP, more posts were made on the original thread, some excellent contributions by valued and knowledgeable fellow members were made to bring it up to speed, what we ended up with was the same system made from wood barrels and a bamboo compost core as a solution for making it a more natural and compatible system for plant life and sustaining human life, anyway, its the idea here that counts, maximum yields on a small space with a minimum of maintenance and more or less self-sustaining, plant, water, compost, harvest, replant, water compost harvest etc etc.

So... FYI...one more possible option to become self sustainable the smart way, with minimal effort and maximum efficiency, key ingredients for the interesting times that are ahead.

Up to 50 plants on a square meter, worth a view and time well spend, you can buy one or build one, just found this on Youtube and wanted to share, imagine what that thing could do if you mix biochar and some pieces of wood in there ( hugelkultur style) to feed it, and hold the moisture in, that barrel would explode with the best ever succulent veggies, 10 of these in a small greenhouse can probably feed a family year round, enjoy the videos and instructional, I wish I had a balcony or a garden, happy growing and bon apetit.

    How to make biochar.

Example of a very simple, very fast diy greenhouse set up.

The towers in the first series of videos can also be made using 5 gallon plastic food grade buckets. You can get 16 spots around the outside of the bucket and you can put some plants on the top too. Use 2 inch PVC for the center pipe. Be sure to cut 3 or 4 drain holes about an inch up around the bottom of the bucket
