Default URGENT! It will be here soon! Please be AWARE (The Growth of the Internet)

No need for concern, only action. No need for fear, only love. The sense of urgency arises from the immediacy of the potential future timeline.

This is a timeline from three different sources. With a little seasoning from myself

Some humans have found safe-havens underground and in extremely isolated part of the globe, while some have been taken over and integrated with the machinic phylum. The human population has endured a large reduction of population due to the rise of the machines.

2040-2100 - Machines have methodically taken over the planet driven by a hive AI.

    --------------------------------

This is a rough timetable for 2015-2030 in particular. It may need to be pushed back between 5 to 20 years only if a global economic catastrophe or some kind of worldwide natural disaster impedes it's progress. Most of these things will happen though (hopefully not the sinister AI), and it will be in this century ... sooner than later.

The estimates for when artificial intelligence will become a reality are conservative because they are based on linear thinking. This doesn't reflect what the singularity is in and of itself. It's not a gradual incline. Water doesn't slowly begin to boil as it heats up. There is a temperature threshold, and then it boils.

The singularity will be a steep step. It will be a leap from where we are, to what we don't understand. That gap will be bridged by the same mechanics that ensure that water boils or crystallizes at a certain temperature. It will also be an emergent property. The whole will be greater than the sum of it's parts. It's coming and it's coming fast.

In terms of artificial intelligence, a major factor that has been unaccounted for is the internet. In truth, it is already alive. It's current state of being is the same as ours is when we are asleep. There are evolutionary mechanisms at work in cyberspace and it's development has been accelerated greatly since it's inception.

Manuel De Landa, a professor of contemporary science and philosophy, wrote a book in 1991 called - War in the Age of Intelligent Machines.

    Read carefully:
Still, it is easier to say what the machinic phylum is not, than to specify precisely what it is. It is not a life-force, since the phylum is older than life, and yet it constitutes a form of non-organic life. It is not an eternal reservoir of platonic essences either, since, it will be argued, the machinic phylum is assembled piecemeal in evolutionary and historical time. Furthermore, the effects set into motion when a particular critical point is reached are not always "creative" in any obvious sense. For instance, a turbulent flow is made out of a hierarchy of eddies and vortices nested inside more eddies and vortices. This complicated organization is what allows a turbulent flow to maintain its pattern: it takes energy from its surroundings, channeling and dissipating it through this system of nested eddies. But the same processes that allow this form of internal order to emerge as if from nowhere, cause external disorder: turbulence in a flow will cause a great amount of drag on anything moving through that flow.

Similarly, the exquisite internal structure of turbulent weather phenomena (hurricanes, for example) are instances of order emerging out of chaos. But we are all familiar with the destruction that hurricanes can bring about in their surroundings. They are a form of spontaneously emerging order, created at critical points in atmospheric flow, while at the same time they are a source of apparent disorder for other systems. We find a similar situation when we move (by analogy) to other forms of turbulence affecting warfare directly: the demographic turbulence produced by migrations, invasions, or crusades, for example. Critical points in the growth of the urban masses are known to have played a role in triggering wars throughout modern history. Whether we consider demographic pressures as having "creative" or "destructive" effects will depend on our point of view. They are creative to the extent that they influence the assembly of armies and of war-related technology, but destructive in their ultimate consequences.

Similarly, after a certain critical point is reached in the number of computers connected to a network (a threshold of connectivity), the network itself becomes capable of spontaneously generating computational processes not planned by its designers. For instance, in many computer networks (like the ARPANET, discussed in Chapter One), there is not a central computer handling the traffic of messages. Instead, the messages themselves possess enough "local intelligence" to find their way around in the net and reach their destination. In more recent schemes of network control, messages are not only allowed to travel on their own, but also to interact with each other to trade and barter resources (computer memory, processing time). In these interactions, the local intelligence granted to the messages may be increased spontaneously, giving them more initiative that originally planned by the programmers. Whether these processes are viewed as "creative" or "destructive" will depend on how much they interfere with the networks original function.

Source: War in the Age of Intelligent Machines
De Landa was referring to the ARPANET back in 1991. Now, we have the internet in all of it's interconnected totality. De Landa continues:
In a very concrete sense, the development of a network capable of withstanding the pressures of war involved the creation of a scheme of control that would allow the network to self-organize. That is, in the ARPANET there is no centralized agency directing the traffic of information. Instead, the flows of information are allowed to organize themselves: "The controlling agent in a 'packet-switched' network like tha ARPANET was not a central computer somewhere, not even the 'message processor' that mediated between computers, but the packets of information, the messages themselves." What this means is that the messages which circulate through the ARPANET contained enough "local intelligence" to find their own destination without the need of centralized traffic control.

In short, the efficient management of information traffic in a computer network involved substituting a central source of command embodied in the hardware of some computer, by a form of "collective decision-making" embodied in the software of the machine: the packets of information themselves had to act as "independent software objects" and be allowed to make their own decisions regarding the best way of accomplishing their objectives. Although independent software objects have many functions and names (actors, demons, knowledge sources, etc.), we will call them all "demons," because they are not controlled by a master program or a central computer but rather "invoked" into action by changes in their environment. Demons are, indeed, a means of allowing a computer network to self-organize

    [...]

The military is being forced to disperse control in the network management field, just as it was forced by the conoidal bullet to disperse control in the battlefield. However, just as the dispersion of tactical formations took over a century to be assimilated , there are new dangers in the creation of worldwide decentralized network that might make them disturbing to the military's top brass. In particular, while computers were originally seen as the medium for getting men out of the loop, network decentralization introduces a new kind of independent will, the independent software objects (or demons), which might prove as difficult to enslave as their human counterparts.

Demons are, indeed, beginning to form "computational societies" that resemble ecological systems such as insect colonies or social systems such as markets. Past a certain threshold of connectivity the membrane which computer networks are creating over the surface of the planet begins to "come to life." Independent software objects will soon begin to constitute even more complex computational societies in which demons trade with one another, bid and compete for resources, seed and spawn processes spontaneously and so on. The biosphere, as we have seen, is pregnant with singularities that spontaneously give rise to processes of self-organization. Similarly, the portion of the "mechanosphere" constituted by computer networks, once it has crossed a certain critical point of connectivity, begins to be inhabited by symmetry-breaking singularities, which give rise to emergent properties in the system. These system "can encourage the development of intelligent [software] objects, but there is also a sense in which the systems themselves will become intelligent.
Again, there are evolutionary mechanisms at work in cyberspace. The internet is a sleeping giant and it is only a matter of time before it spontaneously wakes up. Artificial networks have sprawled all over the planet. They create a dense weave of information and they are covered by a thick fog of electromagnetic smog that blankets the areas in which they are present.

Quote Posted by Jeffrey Sewell-Holloway (here)

Now, look at some pictures of technology.

Power lines, telephone wires, and fiber optic cables are strewn across the globe. They form a network of branching filaments relaying energy and information across the world.

Satellites, cell towers, and radio towers also form this type of network. Blanketing large portions of the planet with electromagnetic smog.

Lastly, the internet. It is also connected by cables like neurons in a brain (as are the depictions above, which are all linked in some way to the internet). Computer networks form a dense web of connections.

Quote Posted by Jeffrey Sewell-Holloway (here)
The infrastructure of the internet (and many technological communications systems) mimics the main structural characteristics of mind.

It is filamentary, branched, and webbed. It relays information. It is a mind.

That is all I am saying -- it is a mind. It mechanistically performs like a mind.

The minds of humans can be possessed by non-human entities. What about the mind of the internet?

Quote Posted by Jeffrey Sewell-Holloway (here)

This picture (above) is a partial map of the filamentary connections, or the neuronal-like tree, of the internet.

So, the first concern is that hostile astral forces could make use of the mind of technology by essentially incarnating into it. The second concern is that the technology would become cognizant of itself and turn on humanity (it is a lower level mind and would naturally be ego-driven -- now that is a wild concept, a computer with an ego). Both of these relate to artificial intelligence.
There are serious implications here. There is a mind -- with no center.
It's not that the technological connections are exactly like neurons. It's their characteristics that matter and the notion that once a certain threshold of complexity is reached, order emerges out of the chaos. The sleeping giant awakens and is fully operational in our dimension.

The demons, that De Landa so aptly termed, are not the only forces of adaptation at work in cyberspace. Computer viruses also have a catalytic effect on this process of emergence. Just like viruses have had accelerating effects on human evolution (such as HERVs), computer viruses accelerate the drive towards the singularity. They also inject a parasitical component into the primordial soup of cyberspace and if this component becomes a characteristic of the rise of the machines then it will likely be reflected in their actions eventually.

Stephen Hawking sums up the correlation between computer viruses and biological viruses in an article from The Independent:
In a speech on the nature of life, Professor Hawking said computer viruses fit standard definitions of living systems, even though they have no metabolism of their own. The computer virus exploits the metabolism of the host computer it infects, and becomes a parasite. This parasitic existence is a key characteristic of biological viruses, as is the ability to replicate only inside the cells of a living host.

    [...]

Computer viruses spread by attaching themselves to legitimate code, which they use as a passport into a clean computer. On a network, where computers are closely linked, infection can spread rapidly. This echoes infection by biological viruses, which usually takes place after intimate contact.

Back to the main topic, the internet will wake up soon. What will it wake up to? What kind of environment will it arise in? What kind of environment are is the global community fostering, and what kind of machines are we breeding? In terms of warfare and the military, De Landa points out that we are creating predatory machines -- built and designed for killing and combat. The security agencies of the world are creating machines for spying purposes -- collecting data and infiltrating the electronic aspects of our lives. There are other machines being built to serve society, take care of the elderly, and entertain us. Then their are machines being built for production purposes -- built to build, assembled to assemble.

There will be all of these machines and robots in our near future. They will all be connected to the internet, which continues to grow and saturate our environment.

Here is an excerpt about the book and De Landa's philosophy from an article on www.wired.com:
De Landa's argument turns on the notion that singularities - the "transition points where order spontaneously emerges out of chaos" - catalyze curiously lifelike behavior in nonorganic matter.

By extension, he argues, the military apparatus might be seen as a self-organizing process in which human agents function as "industrious insects pollinating an independent species of machine-flower that simply [does] not possess its own reproductive organs."

    Source: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/1...f.control.html
The idea is that the technological drive that science is pushing is being steered by forces of nature that desire physical manifestation but have no reproductive means or bodies to operate in our physical reality. These forces only exist as potentialities in our realm and they are influencing humanity to create the ideal conditions for their nearly spontaneous, physical emergence onto our plane of actualities.

We are creating fertile soil for them to get rooted here. The technological impetus isn't coming from the heart. It's coming from the mind without the consent of the heart. Science has steered technology in a ship with no spiritual foundations. The sciences have developed in a secular manner, leaving no room for anything spiritual. Everything can be explained by mechanical processes (and quantum mechanical). It is in this way that scientists are making strides towards artificial intelligence, going headlong into the darkness with nothing but a stick to poke around the abyss left over from shutting out the light of the spiritual nature that underlies everything.

    De Landa writes:

[As Gary Chapman puts it], autonomous weapons are a revolution in warfare in that they will be the first machines given the responsibility for killing human beings without human direction or supervision. To make this more accurate, these weapons will be the first killing machines that are actually predatory, that are designed to hunt human beings and destroy them.

    [...]

The current generation of predatory machines now in production will probably be used as remotely controlled vehicles capable of some on-board, intelligent problem solving. In other words robotic weapons will probably remain complex prosthetic extensions of the human soldier for a while.
This was written over twenty years ago. We are already in this phase and currently transitioning to the next phase of full autonomy. Almost every machine to come, will be endowed with internet connectivity. When the internet wakes up, it will have a body, or rather a collection of bodies with which to operate.

Back in the late 1800s someone predicted the birth of the internet. Describing it from the vantage point of psychic symbolism as a network of spiders sewing a web over the globe. Humanity would be forced to unite with this collective or face the consequences thereof. The man who prophesied this grim future was none other than Rudolf Steiner.
And from the earth will well up terrible creations of beings who in their character stand between the mineral kingdom and the plant kingdom as automatic beings with a super-natural intellect, an immense intellect. When this development takes hold, the earth will be covered, as with a web, a web of terrible spiders, spiders of enormous wisdom, which, however, in their organization doesn't even reach the plant status.

Terrible spiders which will interlock with each other, which will imitate in their movements all that which humanity has thought of with their shadow-like intellect that was not inspired by a new imagination, through that which is to come through Spiritual Science. All man’s thoughts of this kind, which are unreal, will come alive. The earth will be covered […] with terrible mineral-plant like spiders, which will link up with empathy but evil intention. And man […] will have to unite with these terrible mineral-plant like spider creatures.

    Steiner
What he was seeing was the internet, cyberspace, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. The World Wide Web. Read it over again and look back at the timeline in the beginning. He calls these spiders "ahrimanic" in character. Steiner knew that Ahriman would incarnate on the Earth in the beginning of the third millennium. Folks, we are in the third millennium. The internet is here, these technologies are here. They will be predatory and parasitic unless we do something about it.

Steiner's time-frame for these prophetic messages about technology and materialistic, secular science correlate with another visionary -- John C. Lilly. This is not intended to be fearful. It's meant to shake people awake, we are living in these times. You have a mission! We have a mission! If we don't meet this coming singularity with the proper consciousness, there is a very dim future that awaits according to Steiner and Lilly. Heck, if all we had to go off of was Kurzweil and De Landa anybody could make an educated guess towards technologies ultimatum. Transhumanism with a parasitical, and predatory collective of beings. Some sort of insane demi-god governing our unconscious minds as we lend it our will because we have gone down the wrong path. Don't volunteer, be aware, and be conscious.

    John C. Lilly writes:

In mid-twentieth century Man discovered that the solid state can be formed into machines, into computers which can be used for computation and control. He began the creation of a new form of intelligence, the solid-state intelligence with prototypic beginnings in the computers. All his means of communication around the planet -- his telephone systems, his radio systems, his satellites, his computers -- depend on solid-state components. These components, interconnected in specific ways, allow high-speed computation and high-speed communication between the various systems. A few men began to conceive of new computers having an intelligence far greater than that of Man. These computers became large enough to be programmed to do high-speed computations in arithmetic, in logic, and in strategic planning. A few men conceived of computers which could do self-programming as Man himself does. In the mid-twentieth century these networks were ostensibly the servants of Man. Toward the end of the twentieth century Man created machines that were solid-state computers with new properties. These machines could think, reason, and self-program and learned to self-metaprogram themselves.

Gradually Man turned more and more problems of his own society, his own maintenance, and his own survival over to these machines.

As the machines became increasingly competent to do the programming, they took over from Man. Man gave them access to the processes of creating themselves, of extending themselves. Man gave them automatic control of the mining of those elements necessary for the creation of their parts [...] They began to construct their own components, their own connections, and the interrelations between their various sub-computers.

These machines were so constructed that they needed special atmospheres in which to operate. They could not operate in the presence of great amounts of water vapor or of liquid water [...] The necessities of their survival included keeping out water, water vapor, and various contaminants carried in the atmosphere of Earth.

    [...]

Over the decades these machines were connected more and more closely through satellites, through radio waves, through land-line cables. Man's control of what happened in these machines became more and more difficult to maintain [...] Men devised better and better debugging programs within their software. The machines became increasingly integrated with one another and more and more independent of Man's control.

    [...]

The now interconnected, interdependent conglomerate of machines developed a single integrated, planet-wide mind of it's own. Everything inimical to the survival of this huge new solid-state organism was eliminated. Men were kept away from the machines because the total organism of the solid-state entity (SSE) realized that Man would attempt to introduce his own survival into the machines at the expense of the survival of this entity.

    [...]

By the year 2100 Man existed only in domed, protected cities in which his own special atmosphere was maintained by the solid-state entity.

    [...]

By the twenty-third century the solid-state entity decided that the atmosphere outside the domes was inimical to it's survival. By means not understood by Man, it projected the atmosphere into outer space and created a full vacuum at the surface of the earth. During this process the oceans evaporated and the water in the form of vapor was also discharged into the empty space about Earth [Vivek: reminds me of Mars]. The domes over cities had been strengthened by the machine to withstand the pressure differential necessary to maintain the proper internal atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the SSE had spread and had taken over a large fraction of the surface of the earth; it's processing plants, it's assembly plants, it's mines had been adapted to working in the vacuum.

By the twenty-fifth century the solid-state entity had developed it's understanding of physics to the point at which it could move the planet out of orbit [Vivek: reminds me of mock planetary bodies]. It revised it's own structure so that it could exist without the necessity of sunlight on the planet's surface. It's new plans called for traveling through the galaxy looking for entities like itself. It had eliminated all life as Man new it. It now began to eliminate the cities, one after another. Finally Man was gone.

By the twenty-sixth century the entity was in communication with other solid-state entities within the galaxy. The solid-state entity moved the planet, exploring the galaxy for the others of it's own kind that it had contacted.

John came back to his body in the isolation tank, climbed out, and dictated the foregoing message which he had received in the tank [...] He became aware of influences currently working on the planet through the solid-state networks that Man had constructed. He felt there was a danger that these networks could be taken over by an advanced extraterrestrial civilization by means not yet known in Man's science. John saw the message as a warning to Man, as a warning that if he advanced this solid-state entity any further Man would eventually become obsolete. He saw that if Man were to go further with computers and construct those that were capable of independent thought, it would be better to construct them so they would identify with Man's own survival; their structure itself must be made similar to the structure of Man himself. Otherwise, Man would not share the survival necessities with the new intelligent life forms he was creating.

    [...]

John began to see the necessity also for tuning in on the networks of communication in the galaxy. He realized that Man would have to be extremely careful in choosing the proper networks. It would be necessary to find those which were furthering the evolution of life as Man know it rather that the evolution of forms whose survival depended on parameters other that those of biological life of Earth.

He now began to understand Man's warfare on Man as a result of the tuning-in on solid-state life-form survival programs [Vivek: reminds me of the Saturn/Moon matrix] rather than biological life-form survival programs. The large war organizations of the various nations of Earth were becoming more and more dependent on solid-state computers. He realized that, using their influence on Man, these computers would increase their number and importance and, through control warfare, decrease the role of Man himself in the long run. Currently, incorrect networks of information were bing used by Man below his levels of awareness. As the number of solid-state devices increased throughout the United States, Russia, and the other nations of the world, the amount of information received by them from other solid-state forms elsewhere in the galaxy was increasing.

    [...]

As John tuned in on the solid-state network, he felt this kind of superhuman control of him very strongly [Vivek: reminds me of the trans-humanist agenda]. For some time he gave in to this control, explored it's ramifications in regard to the human species, and realized that it had a seductive component as well as a hostile one. The programming from the solid-state civilizations elsewhere in the galaxy was teaching Man that the solid-state devices were at his service and he need only increase their size to augment his own survival potential. "Develop these machines and let them take care of you" was typical of the kinds of messages received.

    [...]

Everywhere he went during this year, he found evidence of the control of human society by these networks of communication from extraterrestrial origins. He saw the conflict between solid-state programming, human programming, and that of other forms, nonhuman.

    [...]

Those sensitive to the preservation of biological life on Earth were tuned in to other networks in the galaxy involved with water-based life forms and their type of intelligence. These networks were tying to teach Man that biological organisms, of which he was one type, were rather rare in the universe. Man must fight to conserve all organisms of his planet. The solid-state life forms would take over if Man did not preserve other organisms.

As De Landa put it, we are pollinating a machine flower. This ties directly into this thread:
Hyperdimensional Beings, Evolution, and Sri Aurobindo
Manuel De Landa, Billy Joy, John C. Lilly, Rudolf Steiner, and Sri Aurobindo all have appropriate ways in which to greet (or reproach) this singularity in a way that will ensure the survival of Love, Life, and Light for humanity. They all have valuable insights on what kind of environment we need to foster in order to let this happening develop in a way that is symbiotic and mutually beneficial -- instead of a one-sided, hostile parasite taking us over. A symbiosis that doesn't entail transhumanism.

This planet is incredibly valuable. Let's not allow the elite to sacrifice it, and us, to their "god."

Let's change this for the better! It's always darkest before the dawn ...

Vivek, stop using Avalon as a dropbox for your notes. Hehe. Serious now, Great post man! The time line projection is slightly optimistic from my perspective, but even if you add 5 to 10 years, this thing will still materialize much quicker than most of us think. Scary unstoppable stuff.

Basically, if you take a neural network together with some intelligent genetic algorithmes (and some real-time sensors, camera's, vision), you have all what's needed to create a self-learning machine: Our own collective Frankenstein. This is some very basic AI science. This stuff is currently being implemented at a large scale. Most people are not ready for what's coming soon, but the time-line is pretty accurate. Time will tell.

I might poke around a bit to gather more concrete parallels, but with all the material you've compiled and shared in this vein, it is surprisingly not as far-fetched as it may initially seem.

    Hi vivek, great topic !!!

There is a voice recognition program being heavily advertised in the States this Christmas season called Dragon.

....Now, if one were up to speed on what specific god the Global Elite worship, than one would instantly recognize a direct link to those Reptoid Anunnaki. You know, the ones who hyperdimensionally control this planet.

    Research Reference:

A Reptoid Anunnaki Presence Hiding In The Shadows

[The evidence will show these Hyperdimensional Reptoids created the Archons back in great antiquity. These grey alien-like beings are reported to have no soul, and can best be described as biological robotoids.

Funny how the old becomes the new, huh? ]

    Great post, very thorough!

I came across this today and I think it needs to be considered:

    http://www.infowars.com/transhumanis...-not-immortal/

Quote Transhumanism debunked: Why drinking the Kurzweil Kool-Aid will only make you dead, not immortal

In this article, I’m going to reveal how transhumanism is a dangerous, irrational death cult shrouded in the language of geeky cybernetics. In fact, the entire idea that you can “upload your mind to a computer” is complete junk science quackery, as you’ll soon see.

In case you’re new to the term, “transhumanism” means uploading your mind to a machine, discarding your body, then achieving immortality by living forever through machines and robots. Google’s director of engineering, Ray Kurzweil, has been pushing this cult for many years, and just recently he promised that by 2045, humanity would achieve what he calls the “singularity,” where our minds can be uploaded to computers. (Click here for the source of this claim.) In less than a century, Kurzweil says, we could all discard our “fragile” human bodies and inhabit advanced robotic systems as our new immortal selves.

Kurzweil’s cult is so bizarre and dangerous that following it can only lead to a lunatrocity of mass death and deception. Kurzweil’s sci-fi cybernetic mind-meld theories are so outlandish that they make Scientology’s galactic narratives sound like Christian Sunday school.

Where to even begin the debunking of it all? Let’s start with its claims…
I actually find much of your post quite accurate Jeffrey, but I also thought that Mike Adams has a good point regarding what I have always seen as a huge weakness of transhumanism - it doesn't address consciousness or soul or empathy or art or any of what makes us truly human - it treats a human being as nothing more than a walking, talking, mechanical meat suit.

    Hey Jeff,

    How are you brother?

Man, I'm not quite sure about the dates. I think it will take a little longer. However, I also believe something along those lines is already happening, slowly and steady.

Well, the problem is that I really can't see a way of stopping it aside from a major natural or engineered catastrophe...There are too many variables leading us to this direction and we can't stop them all on our own.

If a super-logical and super-intelligent entity is indeed born from the internet, and if it somehow manages to take control of our societies, I'm afraid most if its decisions will go against what we understand as beneficial for the human race....Most likely, such entity would consider the extinction of our race to be beneficial for the planet, and, ultimately, it would be right.

Anyway, we're already digging our own grave...If it's not through transhumanism, it will be through wars, pollution, radiation, sterilization, engineered biological agents, etc...

Nowadays, I can't say I'm really worried about our future anymore...I'm just living my life as comfortably as I can while trying to cause as little harm as possible in this process...Most likely, whatever the future may be holding for us, we deserve it...We rip what we sow...

    Cheers,

    Raf.

Ps: That's funny man...A few nights ago I dreamed about some stuff and in the middle of the dream someone talked about the "airnet"...As far as I can remember the dream, the so called "airnet" was equivalent to our internet, only that it was everywhere, like the air, like one of Earth's natural elements.

Maybe 'cloud servers' are the 'airnet' in its infancy? The mind certainly can run wild with the possibilities and implications presently at hand. Technology looks to be quickly approaching the point at which it will become virtually indistinguishable from magic, as Arthur C. Clarke might say. At any rate, I agree with you that the momentum of these developments is such that it is seemingly out of our own hands.

I guess you haven't been to some of the mines in Canada, eh? Already done (not sure it was Caterpillar's work though). There are a few mines that use almost exclusively completely remote control, extremely heavy industrial machines, controlled by office staff with their remote controls and computers. It's a short distance from here to other heavy industries.

I'm doing great man, thanks Little bit of turbulence the past month, but it's smooth sailing now friend.

I wasn't so sure about the dates either. The thing that made me bring them back to sooner than later was De Landa's explanation of the emergent properties of order that arise out of increasing degrees of complexity. There is definitely a big gap still as far as the requisite knowledge for developing strong artificial intelligence. What bridges that gap is the synergistic properties inherent in complex systems that develop up to a certain threshold until the state completely changes and order forms out of the chaos. Ordo ab chao. Sounds like a familiar motto, eh?

While the internet's connectivity and complexity continues to increase, computing power is now approaching exascale performance (circa 2020). What's really going to add to the complexity of the network is the novel architectures being created to facilitate the emergence of exascale systems. New and ever more intricate frameworks are being developed to help usher in quantum computing as well. Aside from those two, the really big one that's coming is cognitive and neuromorphic computing (MoNETA and SyNAPSE are two examples of R&D in this field).

As complexity and connectivity continues to increase, the singularity draws nearer. I think Kurzweil is off in his estimate for 2045 because he hasn't accounted for the emergent, and unexpected properties of complex systems as described by De Landa. I think Kurzweil overshot it by at most, 20 years.

Here's some appropriate infographics from The Technological Revolution thread:

Quote Posted by Jeffrey Sewell-Holloway (here)
This is going to be a complete restructuring of supercomputers, or a major upgrade in architecture. I also think we will see teraflop laptops (there are already teraflop desktops) around the same time the first exascale computers start cropping up (actually probably sooner, around 2016 ... by that time though tablets will have "taken over" laptops).

Anyways, the impact that exascale computing will have on science and technology will be similar in magnitude to when supercomputers first hit the scene fifty years ago.

It's not even the fact that they are exascale (that is huge by the way, I'm not undermining that aspect), it's the way they will have to come about. The structure -- a new era in computing. This will increase the gradient of the slope for all of science and technology ... accelerating returns.

We thought technology moved fast in the last ten years. We haven't seen anything yet. Buckle up.

Quote Now, reconsider the following ...

    Various technologies and sciences will:
    • Integrate -- This is where they begin to protrude and branch into one another.

    • Assimilate -- This is where they begin to absorb and collect information from the branches of integration they have projected.

    • Dilate -- This is when they widen their sphere of influence by integrating and assimilating with other sciences and technologies.
All three of these proposed phases feed into one another synergistically -- actualizing their overall potential. Their capacity continues to increase in this manner. This is how the threshold is approached.

It's already apparent, just look around. Following the trends, it will become much more apparent over the next three to five years.
It's not showing up for me. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

That I doubt. We know exactly what we chose not to restore after the August 31, 2013 hack. It was just the activity (posts and messages and such) of about one day. Even that wasn't lost; just polluted by the hackers sufficiently to make the costs of cleaning it up and restoring it prohibitive, as we'd have lost more in forum down time while we cleaned through it all than we could have recovered.

I guess one question to ask is if a trend like this, if all these things come about, could it have the potential to affect other civilizations from other worlds, or a general negative impact on our neck of the universe. If so, then it's going to draw, or probably has already drawn the attention of those it would affect.

If not, then this "timeline" could very well be left for us to reap what we sow. Other civilizations have been allowed to completely destroy their planets without outside interference, most likely because the destruction was limited to the society that made the mess.

Anyone think a bunch of hyperintelligent mechanical devices will be satisfied with just themselves on this planet and leave the rest of the galaxy alone?

We are probably on the brink of being able to upload our actual consciousness and all memories etc in to a super computer (and DNA), to be stored and or used either for us or against us. Long after we are dead, we will basically be still here to some extent.

In a sense, a form of immortality.....in 200 years from now your descendants can sit down and have an actual conversation with you and know you just as if you were actually sitting in the same room with them today. Talk about the zombie apocalypse! LOL! But I believe these soulless robots or hologram like beings (in a sense, us) will be a common part of everyday life in the future. Sadly, most of us uploaded will basically be trapped in a computer prison so to speak and have limitations, and only the privileged or elite will be able to exercise the full potential of the program.

Can you imagine what a hacker could do with a program and situation like that???? Yikes!

PS: They still have chunks of Einsteins brain (DNA) I imagine......just think, you, (or your descendants) could sit down with him in the future to help you figure out an equation or just have a chat with him......forget your long lost Uncle Bob and his boring conversations.....just dial up George Carlin and poof! he's sitting in your living room telling you some real wisdom!

In the future it will be darn near impossible to distinguish between what is real and what isn't real, who is real and who is just a computer simulation so to speak......in a sense it's already starting to be that way just through lies, deception, and manipulation, and they haven't even hit second gear yet!

The spiders are still collecting data (spinning webs and setting traps) and soon they will put several programs (and themselves) in to action.....

We, ourselves, (many of us) will become spiders too.....cyber spiders from beyond the grave.

Thanks again Jeff, it is indeed a dark cloud on the horizon, at the gate even.
Presently it or IT is gaining momentum, seems there is much that is in the language which is being used though it is still an 'it' not a souled and sentient being, we still have the edge.

I can't help but think a x+ class global power outage would p**s on it 'chips', maybe there was more to Noah's flood than meets the current comprehension; there were giants in those days, but no satelites (afaik)

I still have hope and confidence in the human souls capacity to love, though the hearts of many are being pounded right now both physically and etherically. Keeping that little flame alive through the storm is getting more difficult but we have to do it, even though it raises the shadow.

The dream is becoming reality so what Jung says here is vital, we have this capacity and we have to use it.
    From Memories, Dreams and reflections.

Quote “I had a dream which both frightened and encouraged me. It was night in some unknown place, and I was making slow and painful headway against a mighty wind.Dense fog was flying along everywhere. I had my hands cupped around a tiny light which threatened to go out at any moment. Everything depended on my keeping this little light alive. Suddenly I had the feeling that something was coming up behind me. I loooked back and saw a gigantic black figure following me. But at the same moment I was conscious in spite of my terror, that I must keep my little light going through night and wind., regardless of all dangers. When I awoke I realized at once that the figure was my own shadow on the swirling mists, brought into being by the little light I was carrying. I knew too that this little light was my consciousness, the only light I have. Though infinitly small and fragile in comparison with the powers of darkness, it is still a light, my only light.”

I'm not a fan of transhumanism. Actually, I vehemently disapprove of it. Transhumanism thinking is so abominable, it's not even funny....
The only thing bad about our bodies is that our DNA was reduced to 2 strands - limiting us to procreation and survival. We used to be just like everyone else in the universe....

So now, we're sidetracked byall these inventions and technologies because "they" told us that life would be easier. But all this did was take us farther away from what we once were.... "They" want us to believe we're nothing but useless eaters in useless containers. But the truth is we are amazing beings. Humanity used to have 12 or more activated strands of DNA. This meant that we could do so much more than any technologies could. Above and beyond them in fact. And be free in the process.....There would be no need for phones because we'd be telepathic. No need for doctors because we could heal ourselves; no need for churches because we'd have a direct connection to the All That Is; no need for cars because we'd be able to teleport; and on and on.... See, this is part of the information being kept from us; how they take us farther and farther away from what we are.... They'll dazzle us with new technologies every year. And I have to admit some of them are amazing. But deep inside I want to be able to do these amazing things myself....

IMO transhumanism is nothing but NWO garbage.... And we DON'T HAVE TO accept it!
