Default Sci Fi/ Fantasy Adult Chick Flicks

I love movies, especially science fiction or fantasy that is not primarily about warriors battling, slimy monsters or shocking gore.

Movies that are centered more on an interesting idea and may also be termed a chick flick because there is focus on relationship are my preference.

I have come across some movies on you tube and some other places. I am always looking for movies. If anyone wants to share their findings, that would be wonderful.....

I recently saw "Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)".... two cultured vampires in love.

    I saw it here

    http://www.movshare.net/video/52fe321407356

Let the Right One In (2008)... another really well done Swedish vampire film. It has gore but also concerns the developing relationship between two sensitive beings.

I saw it here from Veoh

    http://www.veoh.com/adultwarning/wat...7588916zB6HYeP

I saw this fairly (cheesy) good time travel movie "Timescape (1992)"

    playlist for it is here

This parallel earth love story is on you tube "Quest For Love (1971)". There is no trailer but here is the movie.

I am watching one of my can watch it again favorites of all time tonight. "The Fifth Element (1997)". I love the visuals and Chris Tucker is funny and Leeloo is perfect for Bruce Willis. Gary Oldman is evil.

Here is a romantic comedy from South Korea "part One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, part Amelie" "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006)"

Quote If you've ever questioned whether you're really an alien or a cyborg, well, you're not alone. Young-goon, the protagonist featured in acclaimed director Park Chan-wook's latest film, I'm a Cyborg But That's OK, is sent to a mental hospital after she tries to wire herself into a machine she's building at a radio factory. http://io9.com/364485/korean-movie-e...rg-perspective

    POWDER

Powder received generally mixed reviews from critics. It currently holds a rating of 47% ("Rotten") on Rotten Tomatoes based on 19 reviews, as of May 2011. Caryn James of The New York Times described the film as "lethally dull" and said, "This intensely self-important film has no idea how absurd and unconvincing it is."

Since its release, the film has grossed approximately $31 million worldwide.

The film's production by Disney resulted in a controversy over the choice of director Victor Salva, who had been convicted of molesting a 12-year-old child actor in 1988. When Powder was released, the victim came forward again in an attempt to get others to boycott the film in protest at Disney's hiring Salva. Since then, Disney has not picked up any more pictures by Salva.

Synchronistically On the Ranch thread today, Gio posted one of his favorite movies is the Italian film "Epsilon" or Visitante alienígena - Alien Visitor 1997.

Not too long ago Bill Ryan posted that "The Gods Must Be Crazy" is one of his favorites

I am reconsidering that I could think of a more appropriate title than "sci fi/fantasy chick flicks".
    I wonder??

Although this is a tv series and not a movie, I have to add Battlestar Galactica (Re-imagined) to the list. Starbuck/Kara Thrace is such a dynamic, powerful character. Katee Sackhoff is beyond amazing from beginning to the very end. Definitely my favorite 4-season chick flick.

I thought you may enjoy this one, "Immortal". Here is the movie in full on youtube. It is partial actors mixed with anime. Very well done and the subject matter is complex and fits right into the Horus Ra Parasitic material. Enjoy.

    Another offering from TV....
I spent hours three seasons watching a series from Canada, "Being Erica". The premise is that Erica is in a therapy process where she revisits regrets. She usually discovers that she would not have changed anything she did in the past after all. As one critic puts it
Quote On paper the show is just riddled with sap, and you have to expect it to play out like the worst offerings of Lifetime, but it somehow dodges the bullets it aims at itself. It somehow accepts its goofiness, rather than trying to rise above it, and that ends up working. Look, the show says, here’s a bit of fun that’s at least a little clever… and, what the hell, it’s kind of fun. http://www.areyouscreening.com/2009/...vision-review/

Maybe it can be seen from here

Here is an old TV movie with Lindsay Wagner "The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan".
    Release: 1970

I loved Cloud Atlas. It was one of the few movies that I actually liked better than the book. They changed a few things in the movie that made it have an inspiring ending, rather than a sad one. I thought they did a really good job, and stayed true to the spirit of the story though. Nothing annoys me more than when one of my favorite books is made into a bad movie!

Immortal led me to this one "Bunker Palace Hotel (1989)"
The first film from Enki Bilal, director of Immortal, set in a decaying underground hotel in a cryptic dystopian future.
    French with English subtitles.

and also led me to a great German film Isaw at the theatre "Lola Rennt! (Run Lola Run) with alternate and parallel time lines. "It's literal; we see Lola running, and so we accept her reality, even though the streets she runs through and the people she meets are altered in each story. http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/run-lola-run-1999"

What about The Lathe of Heaven? I thought the book was pure genius. It's fiction, but I feel like it's a brilliant demonstration of how we interface with "reality". The love story is good too! Ursula K. LeGuin is one of my favorite authors.
