Plato's Allegory of the Cave is a wonderful exploration of the mind. I've had direct correlation to this allegory in my life and have experienced being outside a cave but I will not label that the truth as there are similarities to being outside a cave and it being a cave within a cave. There's much more to my experience with it but to keep it short I will leave the bread crumbs in the cave where I always find them with each adventure.

Often we (or at least I) see the 'standards of the world' as coming from outside-in .....as in someone saying "be like this or don't do that" for various other reasons and associate that as the 'Standards of the World' but I am inclined to believe it's also includes our own internal standards as well. It seems to me that personal standard come from cherry picking our standards FROM the world of standards shopping cart.

Just think thought that should be kept in mind when reading the meme. But if anyone has a different perspective in regards to the meme, I'd love to hear it (in anyway they'd want to express it). I sense this meme hits at the base of a 'powerfully helpful' meme.

Yes, this cherry picking can allow us to reject standards that in fact in an honest examination of our souls may result in our greatest growth. For example, if we see that organization and efficiency in the world are often prized by those who value the material plane above human connection, then we might think (consciously or subconsciously) to ourselves, "I'm not going to be neat and organized, because that will result in me losing my soul connection to other humans like these people have done." In fact, becoming organized may allow us to more efficiently reach other souls in the way we envision. So in this way, we have allowed the standards of the world to hold us back by the mere fact that we reject them on the surface.
