The US defense secretary has openly contradicted President Donald Trump’s
position on the Iran nuclear deal.James Mattis made the remarks while testifying
before the U-S senate. He said Iran was fundamentally in compliance with the Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action and that it was in the U-S national security interest
to stick to the deal. General James Dunford, Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also
said Tehran was not in material breach of the deal. The remarks come ahead of
Trump’s announcement on whether to stay in the 20-15 agreement. Trump has
described the accord as one of the worst deals he has seen. Last month, the
International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed Iran’s compliance with the deal.

What is behind Saudi king’s 'historic' Moscow visit?

    Published on 4 Oct 2017

Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry hailed this week's visit of King Salman bin Abdulaziz
Al Saud to Moscow as "historic".

Riyadh and Moscow have been at odds for decades. The two oil superpowers
produce almost half of the world's crude - and fiercely compete for market shares.
Moscow's efforts that propped up Syrian President Bashar Assad's government have
pitted Russia against Saudis and other Sunni Arab states.

Yet, in the past year, an unexpected rapprochement between the two countries has
been in the making amid Moscow's deteriorating ties with Washington and US
President Donald Trump's unpredictable policy shifts.

    Al Jazeera’s Rory Challands reports.

The Saudi King is heading a delegation in what's called a historic visit to Russia. On
the surface, there is much the 2 disagree on, such as Syria & Iran. However,
agreements on weapons sales, oil & a promise to work to resolve Middle East crises
peacefully may breach gaps. So, whose policies will change, if at all, after this trip?
Will Saudis back down on support for terrorists & the ideology that inspires them?
Or will Russians be charmed by Saudis?

The former top White House official Steve Bannon hinted that the Trump administration was planning to soon declare that the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization and move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, perhaps as soon as next week.

But a senior administration official disputed that such an announcement was in the works for next week...whenever such an announcement transpires, war in the Middle East will follow soon thereafter.

Leaked Israeli diplomatic cable reveals Saudi-Israeli plans to provoke war with Iran and demonize Hezbollah

    Tyler Durden Zero Hedge
    Tue, 07 Nov 2017 17:08 UTC

Left: Israeli PM Netanyahu, Right: Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Early this morning, Israeli Channel 10 news published a leaked diplomatic cable which had been sent to all Israeli ambassadors throughout the world concerning the chaotic events that unfolded over the weekend in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, which began with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's unexpected resignation after he was summoned to Riyadh by his Saudi-backers, and led to the Saudis announcing that Lebanon had "declared war" against the kingdom.

The classified embassy cable, written in Hebrew, constitutes the first formal evidence proving that the Saudis and Israelis are deliberately coordinating to escalate the situation in the Middle East.

The explosive classified Israeli cable reveals the following:
    • On Sunday, just after Lebanese PM Hariri's shocking resignation, Israel sent a cable to all of its embassies with the request that its diplomats do everything possible to ramp up diplomatic pressure against Hezbollah and Iran.
    • The cable urged support for Saudi Arabia's war against Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
    • The cable stressed that Iran was engaged in "regional subversion".
    • Israeli diplomats were urged to appeal to the "highest officials" within their host countries to attempt to expel Hezbollah from Lebanese government and politics.
As is already well-known, the Saudi and Israeli common cause against perceived Iranian influence and expansion in places like Syria, Lebanon and Iraq of late has led the historic bitter enemies down a pragmatic path of unspoken cooperation as both seem to have placed the break up of the so-called "Shia crescent" as their primary policy goal in the region. For Israel, Hezbollah has long been its greatest foe, which Israeli leaders see as an extension of Iran's territorial presence right up against the Jewish state's northern border.

The Israeli reporter who obtained the document is Barak Ravid, senior diplomatic correspondent for Channel 10 News. Ravid announced the following through Twitter yesterday:
    • I published on channel 10 a cable sent to Israeli diplomats asking to lobby for Saudis/Harir and against Hezbollah. The cable sent from the MFA in Jerusalem [Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs] to all Israeli embassies toes the Saudi line regarding the Hariri resignation.
    • The Israeli diplomats were instructed to demarch their host governments over the domestic political situation in Lebanon - a very rare move.
    • The cable said: "You need to stress that the Hariri resignation shows how dangerous Iran and Hezbollah are for Lebanon's security."
    • "Hariri's resignation proves wrong the argument that Hezbollah participation in the government stabilizes Lebanon," the cable added.
    • The cable instructed Israeli diplomats to support Saudi Arabia over its war with the Houthis in Yemen. The cable also stressed: "The missile launch by the Houthis towards Riyadh calls for applying more pressure on Iran & Hezbollah."
Watch today's Hebrew broadcast Channel 10 News report which features the Israeli diplomatic cable - the text of which is featured in Channel 10's screenshot (below) - here.

Below is a rough translation of the classified Israeli embassy cable using Google Translate as released by Israel's Channel 10 News:
"To the Director-General: you are requested to urgently contact the Foreign Ministry and other relevant government officials [of your host country] and emphasize that the resignation of Al-Hariri and his comments on the reasons that led him to resign illustrate once again the destructive nature of Iran and Hezbollah and their danger to the stability of Lebanon and the countries of the region.

Al-Hariri's resignation proves that the international argument that Hezbollah's inclusion in the government is a recipe for stability is basically wrong. This artificial unity creates paralysis and the inability of local sovereign powers to make decisions that serve their national interest. It effectively turns them into hostages under physical threat and are forced to promote the interests of a foreign power - Iran - even if this may endanger the security of their country.

The events in Lebanon and the launching of a ballistic missile by the signatories to the Riyadh agreement require increased pressure on Iran and Hezbollah on a range of issues from the production of ballistic missiles to regional subversion."
Thus, as things increasingly heat up in the Middle East, it appears the anti-Iran and anti-Shia alliance of convenience between the Saudis and Israelis appears to have placed Lebanon in the cross hairs of yet another looming Israeli-Hezbollah war. And the war in Yemen will also continue to escalate - perhaps now with increasingly overt Israeli political support. According to Channel 10's commentary (translation), "In the cable, Israeli ambassadors were also asked to convey an unusual message of support for Saudi Arabia in light of the war in which it is involved in Yemen against the Iranian-backed rebels."

All of this this comes, perhaps not coincidentally, at the very moment ISIS is on the verge of complete annihilation (partly at the hands of Hezbollah), and as both Israel and Saudi Arabia have of late increasingly declared "red lines" concerning perceived Iranian influence across the region as well as broad Hezbollah acceptance and popularity within Lebanon.

What has both Israel and the Saudis worried is the fact that the Syrian war has strengthened Hezbollah, not weakened it. And now we have smoking gun internal evidence that Israel is quietly formalizing its unusual alliance with Saudi Arabia and its power-hungry and hawkish crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Syria civil war: Last major IS town Albu Kamal 'captured'

Syrian pro-government forces captured the city of Deir al-Zour on Friday

Syrian army and allied forces have taken Albu Kamal, the last major town
held by so-called Islamic State in the country, Syrian state media says.
Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Forces also took part in the operation, close to
the border between the two countries.

The two groups had been making significant gains against IS in their
respective countries in recent weeks. The militants overran vast areas of
both Syria and Iraq in the summer of 2014, establishing a "caliphate".

A commander in the Syrian pro-government military alliance said, quoted
by Reuters: "The last stronghold of Daesh (Islamic State), Albu Kamal,
is free of the Daesh organisation."

Yemen conflict: UN official warns of world's biggest famine

Yemen faces the world's largest famine in decades "with millions of victims"
if aid deliveries are not resumed, a senior UN official has warned.

Mark Lowcock, the UN under-secretary general for humanitarian affairs,
urged the Saudi-led coalition to lift its blockade of the conflict-torn country.
On Monday, the coalition shut air, land and sea routes into Yemen after
Houthi rebels fired a missile at Riyadh.

The ballistic warhead was intercepted near the Saudi capital.

Saudi Arabia said the blockade was needed to stop Iran sending weapons to the rebels.

Iran denies arming the rebels, who have fought the Saudi-led coalition since 2015.

Bypassing the Suez Canal: Russian - Iranian transportation project gets approved

    Fort Russ News -
    November 8 , 2017 -
24 Molnia- translated by Inessa Sinchougova

The Russian transit project "North-South" has received international support. Earlier it was reported that Moscow, together with Tehran, began to actively explore the feasibility of implementing a corridor for the flow of goods from Asia to the EU.

Unlike the Chinese "New Silk Road", the emphasis in this project is on the use of maritime transport. It is expected that the time savings for the delivery of goods from Asia to the EU can be up to two weeks. Thus, the corridor "North-South" will become a serious competitor to the route passing through the Suez Canal.

The head of the port and shipping organization of Iran, Mohammad Rastad, reports on a significant increase in cargo turnover in the country's maritime harbors. It is noteworthy that the Iranian side continues to make serious efforts to further develop its port infrastructure. To this end, Iran signed a contract with India for the supply of port equipment worth $ 85 million. It is expected that the renewal of the maritime infrastructure will allow the Iranian side to significantly accelerate the process of providing the necessary capacity for transshipment of goods, along the shortest route from India to the EU market.

Busted: Americans supply Europe with gas, which they buy in Russia

    Fort Russ News -
    November 6 , 2017 -
    by Inessa Sinchougova

The United States supplies fuel to the liquefied gas terminal in Belgium's Antwerp, after purchasing it in Russia. This story was initially reported by TASS, the journalists of which were investigating activities of offshore companies.

It turned out that the liquefied gas arriving in Antwerp is delivered by four tankers, belonging to the Navigator Holdings company registered in the Marshall Islands.

Almost one third (31%) of Navigator Holdings shares belong to US Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross.

The company buys gas from the Russian "Sibur" in the port of Ust-Luga.

The investigation confirms the opinion of the Russian ambassador to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, that it is "naive to count on the arrival of liquefied gas from the United States in the terminals of Europe."

The terminals for liquefied gas in Europe were created to reduce the dependence of the EU countries on the export of fuel through Russian pipelines. However, the gas comes to the terminals not from the USA, but from the nearest source - Russia, at a higher price than for pipeline transportation.

The revealed information also indicates the knowing cooperation of Sibur with Wilbur Ross, which was not previously known. The company seemed surprised at the political interest in what they viewed as "regular commercial activity."

What European allies, or European interests?

The sanctions are surely working out great for Mr. Ross.

Mainstream media are bound to ignore this blatant misconduct of the oligarchy. In the words of the Russian President - the US doesn't need allies, it needs only vassals.

And to quote the well known Princeton professor on Russian studies, Stephen Cohen, when it comes to natural resources, among other things - the West needs Russia, more than Russia needs the West.

The entire quote appears at around 5.28 of the video.

Fall of Raqqa: The secret deal - BBC News

    Published on 14 Nov 2017
When US-backed Syrian fighters took full control of the city of Raqqa, it ended
three years of rule there by so-called Islamic State. But now the BBC has
uncovered details of a secret deal that let several hundred IS fighters escape.
IS made Raqqa in northern Syria its headquarters in early 2014. Last month
Raqqa fell, but this programme has learnt that in exchange for a deal to save
lives and bring peace to the city, a convoy carrying several hundred IS fighters,
their families and weapons and ammunition -- were able to leave the city freely.
The question now is, where are they now? Our Middle East Correspondent,
Quentin Sommerville, has this exclusive report.

they were able to leave in convoys as part of a deal brokered to bring an end to the

Zimbabwe's military has placed President Robert Mugabe under house

African leader's office said.Troops are patrolling the capital, Harare,
after they seized state TV and said they were targeting "criminals".
The move may be a bid to replace Mr Mugabe with his sacked deputy,
Emmerson Mnangagwa, BBC correspondents say.Mr Mnangagwa's
dismissal last week left Mr Mugabe's wife Grace as the president's
likely successor. Heavy gun and artillery fire could be heard in
northern parts of Harare early on Wednesday.

Mr Mugabe, 93, has dominated the impoverished country's political
scene since it gained independence from the UK in 1980.
