Well there you go something we have known for decades prior to 9/11 Saudi links
to terrorism being acknowledged by report belatedly....British politicians do criticise
Saudi until they get into power as shown in the Farage vid below and as the
conservative minister confirms , Selling arms and Saudi , strategic links and money
    trumps ethics.

Saudi Arabia has 'clear link' to UK extremism, report says

Saudi Arabia is the chief foreign promoter of Islamist extremism in the UK, a new report has claimed.

The Henry Jackson Society said there was a "clear and growing link" between Islamist organisations
in receipt of overseas funds, hate preachers and Jihadist groups promoting violence.

The foreign affairs think tank called for a public inquiry into the role of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations.

The UK's Saudi Arabian embassy says the claims are "categorically false".

Ministers are under pressure to publish a report on UK-based Islamist groups.

The Home Office report into the existence and influence of Jihadist organisations, commissioned by former
Prime Minister David Cameron in 2015, has reportedly yet to be completed amid questions as to whether
    it will ever be published.

Apologies if this is not exactly on-topic but I figured it's more at home here than anywhere else.

Irish MP Richard Boyd Barrett voices his concern over several recent statements from current members of the Likud party on the Palestinian issue . Hats off to him. I wonder how much longer he'll be an MP for:

US and France abandon regime change in Syria

    Alexander Mercouris The Duran
    Thu, 13 Jul 2017 21:35 UTC

Summit of US and French Presidents provides final confirmation that the West's regime change war in Syria has failed and is being abandoned.

The hints and signals that have been flickering on and off from Washington and Paris since the change of governments in the US and France that the regime change attempt in Syria is being officially abandoned has now received formal confirmation.

This has come in a joint news conference by Presidents Trump and Macron following President Trump's talks with President Macron in France.

The statement of abandonment of the regime change policy in Syria was set out in the clearest language by President Macron (bold italics added):
Indeed, we now have a new approach in Syria, because we want results and we want to work closely together with all our partners including the United States. We have one main goal which is to eradicate terrorism, no matter who they are, we want to build an inclusive and sustainable political solution. I do not require Assad's departure, that's no longer a prerequisite for France. For seven years, we did not have an embassy in Damascus - and still we have no solution.
A more straightforward admission of failure in Syria than the highlighted words would be difficult to come up with.

Inevitably some health warnings are in order. The US and France have not suddenly become converts to the cause of President Assad. As Macron's words show, their acceptance that he will stay as President of Syria is simply a recognition of reality: that with Russia protecting him and his armies on the offensive on all fronts there is no longer the wherewithal to remove him.

It has taken six bitter years of conflict and five terrible years of war to arrive at this point. Though Trump and Macron are not to blame for this - the regime change war in Syria was not their work but the work of their predecessors - that it has taken so long and has required so much devastation and loss of life is a terrible indictment of Western policy.

The demonization of Russia - Bjørn Nistad to The Herland Report

"We speak to doctor in Russian history and founder of the independent Russian Information Center in Norway, Bjørn Nistad, about the peculiar demonization against Russia that permeate Western media outlets. How did this Walt Disney kind of thinking evolve, that makes us characterize some nations "as the evil villain" and ourselves as "the inherent good"? We speak about Ukraine, Syria, Vladimir Putin and Iran.

The Herland Report is a Scandinavian initiative presenting leading intellectuals' view on foreign policy, current affairs, religion, the Middle East, Western decadence - free from the censoring political correctness that now permeate Western media and its political propaganda."

    Construction of Turkish Stream Underway

    Voltaire Network | 30 June 2017

On 23 June 2017, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, inaugurated the construction works for that section of the gas pipeline, Turkish Stream, passing through deep seas.

A decision was made to go ahead with this project when President Putin visited Turkey on 1 December 2014. Construction had been interrupted in August 2015 for tariff reasons, but in the context of the war in Syria, it should allow Russian gas to be delivered to Turkey. Parting from there, it could also serve as a transit for Russian gas to the European Union, replacing the plan for the South Stream pipeline, blocked by Brussels.

Estimated at six billion dollars, Project Turkish Stream provides for the construction of two pipelines with a capacity of delivering 15.75 billion m3 of gas every year. The first pipeline must be completed in 2018 and the second at the end of 2019.

Whilst President Putin stressed that this timetable should be adhered to, it is extremely rare that such works are completed so rapidly. This has only been possible due to the personal investment made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who is thus seeking thus to free himself of US economic protection.

This is a good discussion the Neocons/Dems have been around since
the early 1970's in its current form . The hawks and interest groups
behind the scenes switch to influence both parties to keep in power.
Trump is muddying this even though he has supported the mil ind
complex , he is not being hawkish enough for them and they cannot
control him directly as they usually do so far.

Like a bad cold you can’t shake, the neocons are back – and they are back
with a vengeance. Long associated with the extremist wing of the GOP and
tied with catastrophic policy failures, they have now found themselves being
embraced by the Democrats and the liberal media. It would seem being
    anti-Russia attracts strange bedfellows.

Cidersomet, It's possible that Trump isn't being hawkish enough because he won't be able to fund the military expansion Israel and oil oligarchs want. Had his plan to repeal Obamacare worked, he would be rattling sabres and the U.S would be in the opening stages of a major war.

But, all is very quiet, it seems. Washington is paralyzed.

This is interesting and cutting off the US traditional way of causing chaos
