The United States just opened a military base in Israel:

Quote Associated Press | 19 Sep 2017 | by Yaniv Zohar

BISLACH AIR BASE, Israel — Israel and the U.S. inaugurated the first American military base on Israeli soil on Monday, which will serve dozens of soldiers operating a missile defense system.

The move comes at a time of growing Israeli concerns about archenemy Iran's development of long-range missiles. Together with the U.S., Israel has developed a multilayered system of defenses against everything from long-range guided missile attacks from Iran to crude rockets fired from Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.....(full article here)

    Meanwhile in Turkey

    This was Sur 2016:

This is Sur now (March 2017):

The destruction of towns and villages in the south-east of Turkey continues unabated. This is accompanied by the expulsion of the Kurdish Population.
A UN report criticizes the ongoing systematic destruction of settlements and cities with a predominantly Kurdish population since 2015. He accuses Turkey of massive human rights violations: torture, violence, murder and expulsion. Around 355,000 people were displaced in the southeast. Through expropriations and urban changes such as in Diyarbakir-Sur, the government forces an ethnic, social, cultural and demographic change in the region.
More than a third of the old town has already been demolished, the inhabitants are expelled. Satellite records show the extent of the destruction. A town inhabited for 4000 years with a specific culture goes under.
The old town with its narrow streets, the many historic buildings, churches, mosques, tombs, bathhouses and fountains and the colorful multicultural hustle and bustle was a tourist attraction. In 1988, the old town was placed under the protection of the city walls, including 595 buildings.
In 2012 the local government adopted a "Surici Conservation Plan", which was still supported by the Turkish government. She applied for the inclusion of the "fortress of Diyarbakir and the cultural landscape Hevsel Gardens" in the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The joy was great among the population, but it did not last long.

    All things Catalonia:

a good article from Florian Rötzer (translated from german):

Quote Madrid is desperately trying to prevent the independence referendum in Catalonia

The Catalan police are are now under the control of the Guardia Civil, the Mossas do not want to play, the Catalan government rejects the Intervention.
A week before the planned independence referendum in Catalonia, Madrid is trying to prevent this with repression. The constitutional court has called the vote illegal, the prosecutor complains to parliamentarians, government representatives and mayors, who are campaigning for the referendum. The Spanish PP government has sometimes been threatened by violence, which has been suggested to use military forces even in emergency situations. Every effort is made to prevent the referendum.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Rajoy repeated that the referendum will not take place. The government had already prevented it. No government can accept that the constitution and national sovereignty are liquefied.
In parliament, Prime Minister Rajoy received no majority support for the hard-hitting action against the Catalan government and hundreds of mayors. Millions of election papers and posters for the referendum were confiscated. Civil servants were already being investigated by the Civil Guard, and high officials were arrested. The Fiscalia, the prosecutor's office, the Catalan police Mossos d'Esquadra, who had proved their worth in the attacks, now subordinated the Guardia Civil until 1 October.
The head of the Mossos, Josep Lluís Trapero, said they would follow the instructions of the prosecutor's office, but they would follow their own responsibilities and not become part of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior. The Catalan government rejects the Mossas' imprisonment under the Civil Guard as the Catalan Minister of the Interior, Joaquim Forn, made clear.
The Spanish newspaper El Pais draws attention to a survey, according to which 61 per cent of the Catalans do not believe that the referendum is regarded as valid internationally. However, 82% of the Catalans claim to clarify the question of independence through a valid referendum. This is clearly in contrast to the Spanish government, which wants to prevent a referendum under all circumstances.
To this end, the action of the Catalan Supreme Court (TSJC), which on Saturday ordered the closure of three websites, which should register the vote for the referendum planned by the Catalan government. Also prohibited were all other sites and sites on Twitter and Co., which are supposed to do this on behalf of the Catalan government. This is monitored by the Guardia Civil, which gave the providers the necessary data for the blockade.

And just to get this right:
The Guardia Civil, sounds quite harmless, is Military Police. If they tell you to stop you stop, because if you don´t comply they just shoot you and whoever is with you without asking questions. That´s how they role.

American collusion with ISIS: Russian satellite evidence shows US forces assisting terrorists in Syria

    RT

The Russian Ministry of Defense has released aerial images which they say show US Army special forces equipment north of the town of Deir er-Zor, where ISIS militants are deployed.

US Army special units provide free passage for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) through the battle formations of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists, the ministry said in a statement.

"Facing no resistance of the ISIS militants, the SDF units are advancing along the left shore of the Euphrates towards Deir ez-Zor," the statement reads.

"Despite that the US strongholds being located in the ISIS areas, no screening patrol has been organized at them," the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

This could mean that the US military staff "feel absolutely safe" in the area which is held by the terrorists, the ministry of defense stated.

All of the images were taken from September 8 to 12. The photos show several Cougar infantry mobility vehicles and Hummer armored vehicles of the US Army special forces, according to the Russian MoD data.

Earlier in September, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov accused the SDF of collusion with ISIS terrorists.

    © Russian MoD

"SDF militants work to the same objectives as IS terrorists. Russian drones and intelligence have not recorded any confrontations between IS and the 'third force,' the SDF," Konashenkov said.

The city of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria was besieged by Islamic State in 2014. The Syrian Army, supported by the Russian Air Force, broke a three-year blockade on the city in early September. The city's liberation enabled convoys to start delivering food, medicine, and other essentials to the city, which previously had to rely on airdrops.

The liberation of Deir ez-Zor triggered a race between Syrian government forces and US-backed SDF militants. Both are holding separate operations in the area and are aiming to control the oil rich Deir ez-Zor province.

Thousands forced to flee, airspace closed after munitions warehouse explodes in central Ukraine

Massive explosions and a blaze at a military ammunition depot in central Ukraine forced authorities to evacuate 24,000 people and close airspace over the region

Over 1,000 rescue workers are battling a massive blaze at a military warehouse in Ukraine's Vinnytsia region, where over 20,000 people have been cleared as the explosions of munitions for multiple rocket launchers continue to threaten the lives of locals.

According to reports, the depot is spread across 60 hectares and holds some 188,000 tons of ammunition including rockets to multiple launch systems, such as the 'Smerch', 'Uragan' and 'Grad'.

Over 1,000 firefighters and dozens of rescue vehicles continue to battle the blaze.

As a precaution, Ukrainian authorities have closed off the airspace within a 50 km radius of the city.

At least two women have been injured in the blaze. They both sought medical help in the local hospital, the deputy head of Vinnytsia Region administration, Andrey Gizhko, said, as cited by 112 Ukraine TV.

"Many houses have been destroyed, there are casualties," a local woman told 112 Ukraine, adding that many livestock have been killed in the incident.

All traffic has been halted in several areas across Vinnytsia Region due to the incident, the Ukrainian emergency services say.

Around 30,000 people were evacuated as of Monday morning, they added.

The fire at a military depot in the town of Kalinovka started shortly before 10:00pm local time, resulting in the detonations, the interior ministry said.

"Today, on September 26, at 21:50, the Kalinovskiy police department of the Vinnytsia region received a report of the detonation of ammunition on the territory of one of the military stations," authorities said in a Facebook post.

Authorities have ordered police officers from the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr and Khmelnytsky regions to rush to the scene the statement added. Police cordoned off roads leading to Kalinovka and are now clearing residents of the town and surrounding villages as munitions continue to explode.

Savchenko links armory fires to the arms trade

    Fort Russ News - September 27, 2017 -
    - RusVesna.su, translated by Tom Winter -

Screen capture from video at site

Translator's summary: Were the arms depots blown up to hide that the contents had been sold off? -- Quite different from the official blame on "Russian provocations."

Savchenko linked the fire near Vinnitsa with the arms trade (+ VIDEO) | Russian Spring

The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Nadezhda Savchenko, believes that a fire in the ammunition depots near Vinnitsa could have been organized to hide Ukraine's links with the weapons trade.

"We are talking about the following, we see a lot of warehouses in Ukraine, which have been blown up. How they are blown apart, an investigation will establish, but these warehouses have been getting emptied for a long time by the arms trade. Now that all these warehouses are exploding, we need to analyze what was in them," she said.

In this context she recalled the report of the international human rights organization Amnesty International, which referred to Ukraine's involvement in the illegal supply of arms to Southern Sudan.

"We ought not overlook at the fact that warehouses could be half empty, so they are destroyed," she added.

    SOTT Comment:
Ukrainian authorities are calling it sabotage. But, if so, by whom? Some Ukrainians are offering up their speculations, and the culprit ain't Russia!
The fire at the munition arsenal near Vinnytsia could have been organized by the Ukrainian authorities themselves, and not only to hide the theft of the army. This assumption was made in a conversation with a serviceman of the Dnieper Army, a volunteer from Odessa Igor Nemodruk.

"My personal opinion - they undermined the warehouse themselves. And here are two motives. The first is arson in order to hide theft. The second motive of a higher level is the preparation of public opinion for the fact that they need to negotiate with the Donbass.

Poroshenko did not achieve anything with his last trip. And in order to save himself, he needs to make some kind of non-standard move. To unleash a full-scale war is death for him. Leaving the situation like it is now - too, will not lead to anything good, because Saakashvili and the opposition are preparing to overthrow him.

Therefore, it is entirely possible that he is now preparing such a move, which is, say, to negotiate with the republics of Donbass. And here it is convenient to say: see, our warehouses have exploded, there are no shells, let's agree on something quick.

This explosion could also kill two birds with one stone - concealment of theft and preparation of public opinion for the fact that the war needs to end somehow," he summed up.

Update (Sept. 28): The following quote, from Ukraine's secretary of the Security and Defense Council, Oleksandr Turchynov, suggests that the two explanations above may not be too far off the mark:
"The country has suffered the biggest blow to our fighting capacity since the start of the war."
And the chief military prosecutor Anatoliy Matios "ruled out the possibility that the blast had been caused by foreign saboteurs". Looks like they haven't ruled out domestic saboteurs!
Matios said investigators were looking into possible negligence, abuse of power, or sabotage by those who were authorized to handle the ammunition.
So far the investigation has uncovered that the fire alarm wasn't working and security was understaffed. Sounds like Ukraine!
