After Trump & Putin phone conversation 'cooperation against ISIS back on the table'

President Putin also urged restraint over North Korea.

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have held a telephone conversation in which the leaders of two of the three world super-powers discussed pressing matters of war and peace.

The conversations were serious in tone with both leaders pledging to maintain close contact with the other. Putin and Trump also said that the respective foreign ministers of each country, Sergey Lavrov and Rex Tillson will be in close contact with each other in order to bolster the fragile Syrian ceasefire.

Among the most important things discussed was possible coordination between Russia and the United States in the fight against Wahhabist terrorism in Syria. Cooperation between Washington and Moscow in the war against groups like ISIS was a central pillar of Trump's campaign, but one apparently abandoned when Trump attacked Syria on the 6th of April, something which led to Vladimir Putin saying that US-Russian relations had eroded under Donald Trump

However, there have been recent signs that Donald Trump is turning away from militarism and back towards cooperation. The fact that US troops are now acting as a buffer to prevent Turkish forces from firing on Kurdish SDF fighters in Syria is a sign that America has backed away from cooperation with Turkey in a would be war for regime change in Damascus.

According to a statement from the Kremlin Press Office,
"On May 2, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump. They discussed a number of important issues of cooperation between the two countries in the international arena. They concentrated on the prospect of coordinating the actions of Russia and the United States in the fight against international terrorism in the context of the Syrian crisis...

The goal is to create conditions to launch a real settlement process in Syria. It means that the Russian Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State will promptly inform the leaders about the progress achieved in this direction".
The statement also confirmed that the US and Russian Presidents will hold private meetings during the G20 Summit in Germany this July.

Vladimir Putin also urged restraint on the North Korean issue.

    The statement continued,
"The situation on the Korean peninsula was discussed in detail. Vladimir Putin called for restraint and to defuse tensions".
In an ideal world, the US and Russia would cooperate militarily against terrorism in Syria and also cooperate diplomatically over North Korea. China and Russia have both been trying to push the US in this direction.

Trump's first 100 days in office have been filled with contradictions and inconsistency. However, there are some signs that Donald Trump may be doing a second U-turn away from his initial hawkish U-turn.

If this turns out to be the case, it could indeed be a positive development in the US turning away from a unilateral position in foreign affairs.
SOTT Comment: For an excellent breakdown of the Trump presidency and the end of the American Empire, check out:

Behind the Headlines: Facts Intrude on the Reality Creators: The Rapid Decline of the American Empire
While he campaigned on removing corruption from Washington politics and dialing back on US military aggression overseas, Trump appears to have learned a few hard lessons in his 1st 100 days in office. The US 'deep state' cannot be so easily dismantled, and it appears Trump has been forced to concede to the reality that, since America was built on the domination of other nations, it must continue to dominate if it is to survive in its current form.

But those pesky concepts - reality and facts - keep intruding on the dream of a New American Century. From Syria to North Korea (and everywhere in between) the US is being thwarted by the relatively quiet and unshakable resolve of Russia and China to assert their right to international preeminence as the largest and most populous nations on the planet. More to the point, the 'center' of the globe is clearly Eurasia, while America sits isolated from this center by the world's two largest oceans.

Donbass media round-up: Pensions suspended to pay IMF [24th to 30th April]

    May 2nd, 2017 - Fort Russ News -
The Editorial Board of the Cossack Herald - edited by Inessa Sinchougova

    IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde

Ukraine refuses to bear social expenses in Donbass

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the "Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 365", according to which social payments to residents of Donbass who have the status of internal migrants will be suspended. The control over the permanence of Ukrainian citizens in the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics is carried out by the infamous SBU - the Ukrainian analogue of the Nazi Gestapo.

The SBU is obliged to transmit data concerning the political security of the citizens to the territorial departments of labor and social protection of the population. Even some Ukrainian lawyers admit that receiving such data by the branches of the Pension Fund of Ukraine is illegal.

One of the conditions for Ukraine to receive loans from the World Monetary Fund is to raise the retirement age, and to significantly reduce the costs of the Ukrainian budget for social payments. Among the first ones under such distribution were migrants from Donbass. In many cases, the Ukrainian authorities have suspended social payments even without preliminary checks of the people at their registration place.

Payments of pensions to some migrants have ceased in line with the law, stated the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Andrey Reva. According to him, the law provides for the abolition of pension payments to internal migrants who stayed in the territory beyond Ukraine's control for more than 60 days.

Last week, Ukraine stopped the deliveries of electricity to the Lugansk People's Republic, and is going to stop the deliveries to the Donetsk People's Republic. This is nothing more than a form of genocide of the population of Donbass. Now, Ukraine is going to apply the methods of economic genocide to its own citizens who may only be suspected of temporary residence in the territories of the DPR and the LPR.

Bernard-Henri Levy Gets Pied in Belgrade, Attempts to Assault a Man [Video]

    May 11th, 2017 - Fort Russ News -
    --Agencies - - by Samer Hussein -

Bernard-Henri Levy, controversial French philosopher has once again been thrown with a pie, while also publicly displaying his own aggression.

During yesterday's presentation in Belgrade, aimed at gathering support for Kurdish separatism in Syria, a young man from the activist group SKOJ rushed up to Levy and threw a pie directly into his face.

Another young man also came up close to Levy and held a banner that read “Bernard Levy advocates imperialist murders”.

Only a little while later, third man came up to Levy and attempted to start a fight with him. Levy immediately responded by trying to assault him back.

The self-proclaimed intellectual from France is notorious for his advocacy of ethnic cleansing of the Serbs by Ustashas and KLA terrorists in Kosovo during the 1990s.

He is also one of the staunchest supporters of destruction of Iraq and Libya, in addition to expressing enormous sympathies towards jihadists in Syria and their atrocities.

Yesterday, however, Levy did not have his first encounter with a pie. French actor Noel Goden, known for throwing pies at celebrities, targeted Levy 7 times since 1985.

Social media reveals chaos in Philippines Marawi as ISIS battle government forces

Photographs and videos shared across social media platforms are revealing utter chaos in the Philippines city of Marawi as government forces and militants linked to Islamic State battle for control.

Marawi, which is colloquially known as the 'Islamic city' is the focal point of a dramatic outbreak of violence on the archipelago's southern island of Mindanao.

Heavily armed insurgents laid siege to a prison, seized hostages in a church and paraded through the streets in Marawi in a show of force.

The crisis spurred Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte to invoke martial law on the entire island of Mindanao and the city was subject to a blackout Tuesday as government forces engaged with militants and snipers patrolled the streets.

A photo posted on Twitter shows a mosque, the Saduc Masjid, silhouetted by a fire in the background, which the user says is "allegedly" the nearby prison in the aftermath of the attack.

    Quote
    SSM-U‏ @attysamina

My cousin saw this from their home; allegedly the Marawi City jail. All detainees were freed by ISIS.

Another photo, widely shared Wednesday, shows a man clad in black raising a black flag on a building beside the same mosque.

Photos posted to Facebook and Twitter show the Islamic State-linked fighters, many clad all in black, parading through neighborhoods in flat bed trucks and on foot.

The militants seized fire engines and government vehicles and decked them out with the Black Standard, the flag associated with Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). Photos also show them operating checkpoints in the city.

A video of militants attacking the prison - originally posted on a Twitter account associated with jihadists - was also widely shared. The account has since been suspended by the platform however copies are in circulation.

The video shows the heavily armed insurgents firing guns as they traveled in a truck waving black flags.

Marawi resident Chico Dimaro Usman described the situation in a Facebook post. "The Truth of what happen [sic] in Marawi City will never be covered up by anybody," he said before claiming that the militants took control of most of the city.

"Let us accept that ISIS controlled the center of the city (80 to 90%). Government Fire trucks are driven by them with ISIS Flag, Police Car also and even Ambulance. In our street... the ISIS is everywhere."

Long lines of vehicles, and people on foot, attempting to leave the city were pictured Wednesday, with the images widely shared online.

#PrayForMarawi is trending on Twitter following news of the disturbing situation.

Duterte made a passionate and forceful speech in which he warned that the country could "implode" if the threat from militants is not squashed immediately.

"I have always said do not force my hand into it because if I start to declare martial law, I will solve all the problems of Mindanao connected with law and order," he stated.

"The remaining five years of my time, it will be remembered as an administration that did nothing in the face of violence... I will not accept that kind of s**t."
SOTT Comment: After a year or two of the Philippines President dissing the West and turning towards Russia and China, "ISIS" militants launch a large scale attack on government forces....how very coincidental.

Philippines special forces launched an attack on Islamist militant positions in Marawi City early Thursday morning in a bid to retake the city from the ISIS-affiliated Maute group. The operation involved ground troops supported by attack helicopters.

"We're confronting maybe 30 to 40 remaining from the local terrorist group," said Jo-Ar Herrera, spokesman for the military's First Infantry Regiment, as cited by Reuters.

"The military is conducting precise, surgical operations to flush them out... The situation is very fluid and movements are dynamic because we wanted to out-step and outmaneuver them."

Ground troops engaged Maute fighters – affiliated to IS (Islamic State, formerly ISIS/ISIL) – while attack helicopters bombarded their positions from above with heavy machine gun fire and rockets.

Some 18 rebels and six soldiers were killed in the operation according to an army spokesperson cited by Reuters.

RT reached out to Marawi resident and eyewitness Chico Dimaro Usman who has captured the carnage in detail, uploading images and video to Facebook.

Maute fighters have torched buildings throughout the city including a jail, a cathedral and a local school, Dansalan College.

The coordinated air and ground operations began at roughly 9am Usman said.

The air raids continued throughout the morning into mid-afternoon but Usman captured both raids on camera.

RT has corroborated that the videos were taken in the region through comparisons of local topography in the videos with imagery from Google Earth.

Local weather reports confirm roughly 90 percent cloud cover in the area around Marawi City which matches the footage taken by Usman.

RT obtained private statements from Usman confirming that he is in the area. Out of concern for his and his family’s safety, RT is not disclosing his exact location at this time.

So far, a total of 46 people including 15 security forces and 31 Maute fighters have been killed in Marawi City reports Reuters.

Iran Revolutionary Guards blame Saudi Arabia for deadly attacks in Tehran

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have accused Saudi Arabia of masterminding the deadly attacks in Tehran on Wednesday, in which at least 12 people were killed. Earlier the terrorist group Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks.

"This terrorist attack happened only a week after the meeting between the U.S. president (Donald Trump) and the (Saudi) backward leaders who support terrorists. The fact that Islamic State has claimed responsibility proves that they were involved in the brutal attack," said the statement, cited by Reuters.

Earlier, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, IRGC deputy commander, pledged retaliation for the attack.

Let there be no doubt that we will take revenge for today's attacks in Tehran, on terrorists, their affiliates and their supporters,” he said, as cited by the news agency Mehr.

Twelve people were reported killed and 43 injured in gun and bomb attacks in the Iranian capital. The perpetrators targeted the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini’s shrine.

Both attacks were claimed by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), the jihadist organization based in Iraq and Syria. Iran supports both countries in their fight against IS. The attacks in Tehran were the first that IS had claimed responsibility for in the Shiite Islamic republic.

The timing of the attacks, shortly after a presidential election in Iran, may indicate that the perpetrators want to cast doubt on the decision of the Iranian people to give President Hassan Rouhani a second term, Middle East expert Catherine Shakdam told RT.

Iran has just conducted quite successfully its presidential election. Everything went according to plan, it was peaceful, it was progressive,” she said.

There is a clear desire to drive a narrative of fear and to make people have a sense of insecurity and doubt their officials and how they can protect their own borders.

THE SAUDI ULTIMATUM AND LOOMING CONFRONTATION

The following is a good summary from Arab News:
Quote JEDDAH: Several Arab and Islamic countries cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on Monday over Doha’s alleged support for extremist groups.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates were the first to announce they would withdraw their diplomatic staff from Qatar and announced plans to cut air and sea traffic to the peninsular country.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Saudi Arabia said Qatari troops would be pulled from the ongoing war in Yemen. Qatar is part of the Arab Coalition backing the UN-recognized government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi in its war with Iran-backed Houthis and their allies.

SPA said Saudi Arabia has taken this “crucial action as a result of serious violations by the authorities in Doha, privately and publicly, over the past years to encourage dissent and sectarianism in the Kingdom.”
Riyadh accused Qatar of “backing terrorist groups in the province of Qatif, Saudi Arabia, and in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the financing and the adoption of harboring extremists who seek to strike the stability and unity of the nation at home and abroad.”
It specifically mentioned Qatar’s alleged support of the Muslim Brotherhood and Daesh extremists.
Riyadh also accused Qatari media of trying to undermine the Saudi-led coalition in its fight against Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah "expressed his wish" that Qatari ruler "work on easing tensions and refrain from taking any decision that might cause escalation", the Kuwait state news agency Kuna said, as Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, an adviser to the Saudi king, arrived in Kuwait.
Bahrain blamed Qatar’s “media incitement, support for armed terrorist activities and funding linked to Iranian groups to carry out sabotage and spreading chaos in Bahrain” for its decision.
Egypt announced the closure of its airspace and seaports to all Qatari transportation to protect its national security, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday.
Egypt accused Qatar of supporting "terrorist" organizations, including the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's state news agency reported.
The United Arab Emirates accused its Gulf Arab neighbor of supporting extremism and undermining regional stability, state news agency WAM reported.
The Emirates cut ties and gave diplomats 48 hours to leave the country, citing their "support, funding and embrace of terrorist, extremist and sectarian organizations," WAM said.
Qatari officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Yemen's internationally recognised government, which also severed ties with Qatar, accused it of working with its enemies in the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, state news agency Saba reported.
"Qatar's practices of dealing with the (Houthi) coup militas and supporting extremist groups became clear," the government said in a statement.
Libya’s eastern-based government has followed regional allies in cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar, its foreign minister, Mohamed Dayri, said on Monday.
The Maldives also followed suit in severing diplomatic ties with Qatar. "The Maldives took the decision because of its firm opposition to activities that encourage terrorism and extremism," the government of the tiny Indian Ocean archipelago nation said in a statement.
    Qatar denounces 'unjustified' move
Qatar on Monday criticised the decisions of three Gulf states to sever ties with it, saying they were “unjustified” and aimed to put Doha under political “guardianship.”
“The measures are unjustified and are based on false and baseless claims,” the Qatari foreign ministry said in a statement, referring to the unprecedented steps taken by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
Crisis not to impact fight against terrorism
Speaking in Sydney, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said he did not expect the announcement to have "any significant impact, if any impact at all, on the unified fight against terrorism."
He encouraged Qatar and its neighbours to "sit down together", adding that Washington was ready for "any role that we can play" in helping to overcome divisions.
Amid the rift, Iran blamed the regional crisis on the US President’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia.
    Turkey calls for dialogue
Turkey called for dialogue and said it was ready to help defuse the row between Qatar and Arab nations that accuse Doha of supporting extremism.
“It’s a development that really saddened all of us,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters. “There could be problems between the countries but dialogue must prevail in all circumstances,” he said.
    Iran blames US
The head of Iran’s parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi says Washington has always made it a policy to establish a rift among Muslim countries. He says: “Intervention of foreign countries, especially the United States, cannot be the solution to regional problems.”
Russia hopes for 'stability and peace'
Commenting on the decision by a number of Arab and Islamic nations, the Kremlin said on Monday that it is in Russia’s interest to have a “stable and peaceful” situation in the Gulf.
    Crisis not to impact India
India’s Foreign Affairs Minister said that India will not be impacted by some Gulf countries cutting off diplomatic ties with Qatar.
“There is no challenge arising out of this for us. This is an internal matter of GCC (Gulf Coordination Council). Our only concern is about Indians there. We are trying to find out if any Indians are stuck there,” Sushma Swarai told reporters.
    Qatar-bound flights halted
Meanwhile, several airlines have declared suspension of all Qatar-bound flights starting from Tuesday morning until further notice.
Saudi Arabian Airlines, locally known as Saudia, UAE carriers Emirates, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia all announced they would suspend flights to Doha amid the diplomatic rift. Egypt later announced it will suspend air links with Qatar as well.
Qatar Airways, too, said on its official website that it had suspended all flights to Saudi Arabia.
The decision comes after Qatar alleged in late May that hackers took over the site of its state-run news agency and published what it called fake comments made by the ruling emir about Iran and Israel. Its Gulf Arab neighbors responded by blocking Qatari-based media, including the Doha-based satellite news network Al-Jazeera.

    – With input from AP and Reuters
The 24 hour ultimatum is said to consist of the following:

    1. Immediate severance of diplomatic relations with Iran.
    2. Expulsion of all members of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas from Qatar.
    3. Freezing all bank accounts of Hamas members and refraining from any deal with them.
    4. Expulsion of all Muslim Brotherhood members from Qatar.
    5. Expulsion of anti-[P]GCC elements.
    6. Ending support for ‘terrorist organisations’.
    7. Stopping interference in Egyptian affairs.
    8. Ceasing the broadcast of the Al Jazeera news channel.
    9. Apologising to all [Persian] Gulf governments for ‘abuses’ by Al Jazeera.
    10. Pledging that it (Qatar) will not carry out any actions that contradict the policies of the [P]GCC and adhering to its charter.

Humongous ISIS convoy allowed to escape Raqqa to fight the Syrian Army, gets blasted by Russia

    Chris Tomson Al Masdar News
    Mon, 12 Jun 2017 16:00 UTC

Al-Masdar News has obtained jaw-dropping footage from northern Syria suggesting the US-led coalition has allowed hundreds of ISIS vehicles to leave Raqqa city for areas controlled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Despite Kurdish and American drones hovering above Raqqa on all flanks, the Islamic State convoy remained completely untouched by coalition airstrikes, thus suggesting an under-the-table deal may have been struck between the warring parties.

According to an Al-Masdar News researcher, the footage could be traced back to earlier this month while the convoy in the video later was bombed by the Russian Air Force.

    See video here.

Some conspiracy theorists also speculate the US-led coalition allowed thousands of ISIS militants to escape Mosul back in November, 2016 only to capture the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra the following month.

The news of ISIS convoys escaping Raqqa correlates with increased ISIS pressure imposed on the Deir Ezzor pocket where the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is struggling to hold its ground while US-backed Kurdish forces have captured three suburbs in Raqqa with relative ease.

Last month, the US-led coalition also confirmed a Tabqa deal had been struck with ISIS, thus allowing jihadist fighters to evacuate an isolated pocket of territory in western Raqqa.

US-led coalition jet downed Syrian army plane in southern Raqqa - Syrian army statement

    RT

A US-led coalition airstrike in Syria has destroyed a government warplane, the Syrian army has announced in a statement on Facebook. The pilot is missing, it added.
According to the statement, the plane was carrying out operations against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the countryside around Raqqa when it was targeted, leading to a crash and the loss of the pilot, who is currently missing.

"This attack comes at a time when the Syrian Arab army and its allies are advancing in the fight against ISIS terrorists who are being defeated in the Syrian desert in more ways than one," the statement read.
The statement added that although such attacks seek to undermine the Syrian armed forces' struggle against terrorism, they will not be deterred in fighting for stability and security in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The downing of the Syrian warplane, an Su-22, was confirmed by an official press statement from Operation Inherent Resolve, the US-led international task force against IS, which accused the Syrian government of targeting fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces, a Kurdish-led militia.
"At 6:43pm, a Syrian regime SU-22 dropped bombs near SDF fighters south of Tabqah and, in accordance with rules of engagement and collective self-defense of Coalition partnered forces, was immediately shot down by a US F/A-18E Super Hornet," the statement read.

The statement added that its mission is to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria and that the Coalition does not seek to"fight Syrian regime, Russian, or pro-regime forces partnered with them, but will not hesitate to defend Coalition or partner forces from any threat."
This is not the first time that the US-led intervention in Syria has led to standoffs and violence against pro-government forces. In September 2016, a coalition airstrike on Deir ez-Zor killed over 60 Syrian soldiers while in April 2017, US President Donald Trump ordered a Tomahawk missile strike on the Shayrat airbase, ostensibly in retaliation for the use of chemical weapons by the Syria government, though no concrete evidence of this has emerged.

Earlier in June, the US deployed several High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) in southern Syria, close to the border with Jordan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the presence of the rocket launchers cannot be justified by a need to fight Islamic State terrorists, as IS forces are not active in the area. Instead, their presence threatens the cooperation between the Syrian government and their partners in Iraq.

US-led coalition's downing of Syrian plane 'act of aggression' and 'support for terrorists', suspends memorandum ensuring air safety

    RT
    Mon, 19 Jun 2017 11:52 UTC

Moscow views the US-led coalition's attack on the Syrian government military jet as an act of aggression and assistance for the terrorists that the US is fighting against, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.
"What is it then, if not an act of aggression, an act directly in breach of international law," Ryabkov told journalists in Moscow.
"If you want, it's actually help for the terrorists the US is fighting, declaring that they are conducting a counterterrorism policy," the official added.
Ryabkov added that he believed the strike "should be first of all regarded as the continuation of the US agenda of neglecting the norms of international law. Regardless of who has power in Washington, people there are used to the fact that there are circumstances allowing them to arrogantly look down on - and in some situations, to openly ignore - the basics of international relations."

A Syrian SU-22 warplane was shot down by a US F/A-18E Super Hornet on Sunday while it was on a mission in the countryside around Raqqa.

Damascus stated that the plane was carrying out operations against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists when it was downed.

Washington says that the Syrian warplane "dropped bombs near SDF fighters south of Tabqah" and was shot down in accordance with "rules of engagement" of Coalition partnered forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced it is halting cooperation with its US counterparts in the framework of the Memorandum on the Prevention of Incidents and Ensuring Air Safety in Syria following the coalition's downing of a Syrian warplane.

The ministry has demanded a thorough investigation by the US military command into the incident with the Syrian government military jet, with the results to be shared with the Russian side.
"In the areas of combat missions of Russian air fleet in Syrian skies, any airborne objects, including aircraft and unmanned vehicles of the [US-led] international coalition, located to the west of the Euphrates River, will be tracked by Russian ground and air defense forces as air targets," the Russian Ministry of Defense stated.
Downing the military jet within Syrian airspace "cynically" violates the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, Russian military said.

The actions of the US Air Force are in fact "military aggression" against Syria, the statement adds.

The ministry emphasized that Russian warplanes were on a mission in Syrian airspace during the US-led coalition's attack on the Syrian Su-22, while the coalition failed to use the communication line to prevent an incident.
"The command of the coalition forces did not use the existing communication channel between the air commands of Al Udeid Airbase (in Qatar) and the Khmeimim Airbase to prevent incidents in Syrian airspace."
The ministry considers the move "a conscious failure to comply with the obligations under the Memorandum on the Prevention of Incidents and Ensuring Air Safety in Syria," and is thus halting cooperation with the US within the memorandum framework as of June 19, the statement concluded.

Earlier, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged US forces in Syria and those of any other country to refrain from unilateral, uncoordinated action.
"We call on the US and all others who have their forces or advisers on the ground in Syria to ensure the coordination of our work," he said.
De-escalation zones are one of the possible options to move forward jointly, he said.
"We call on everyone to avoid unilateral moves, respect Syrian sovereignty and join our common work, which is agreed with the Syrian government," Lavrov said.
He also called on everyone on the ground to "respect Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Syria conflict: Russia issues warning after US coalition downs jet

2 hours ago.. From the section Middle East

Russia has warned the US-led coalition fighting in Syria that it will view its aircraft as targets,
after a Syrian military plane was shot down on Sunday. The coalition said the Syrian Su-22 had
bombed US-backed fighters battling so-called Islamic State in Raqqa province.Russia, the Syrian
government's main ally, also said it was halting communications with the US aimed at preventing
    such incidents.

Syria's army said the "flagrant attack" would have "dangerous repercussions".

It comes at a time when the US-led coalition and the fighters it is supporting on the ground attempt
to oust IS militants from the city of Raqqa, the de facto capital of the "caliphate" they proclaimed in 2014.

    How has Russia responded?

"Any aircraft, including planes and drones belonging to the international coalition operating west of the River
Euphrates, will be tracked by Russian anti-aircraft forces in the sky and on the ground and treated as targets,"
    the Russian defence ministry said.

However, it stopped short of openly saying it would shoot down coalition aircraft.

Reuters news agency quoted a US military spokesman as saying it was repositioning aircraft over Syria in the
wake of the incident, to ensure the safety of American crew members.

Russian defence minister's plane 'buzzed' by Nato jet

1 hour ago From the section Europe

A Nato fighter jet has approached a Russian plane carrying the defence minister but
was chased away by a Russian escort jet, Russian media say. They say the incident
happened in international airspace over the Baltic when Sergei Shoigu was flying to
    the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

Nato later said it had tracked Russian planes but they did not identify themselves.
The US earlier said a Russian jet flew within 5ft (1.5m) of a US spy plane.

American officials blamed Russia for the "unsafe" encounter on Monday - again over the Baltic.

But Moscow responded by saying that the reconnaissance plane had made a "provocative" move.

Dozens of similar incidents have been reported in the past few years, with Nato and

There has been a pattern of possible 'false flag' chem attacks during the Syrian crisis
of which none makes any sense to be done by the regime as they risk alienating
themselves from their allies and the world opinion for nothing.

It does make a lot of sense from the anti governments forces and their allies to
allow the US to bomb them.....

US warns Syria over 'potential' plan for chemical attack

The US says it has identified "potential preparations" for another chemical
attack in Syria, and issued a stark warning to the Syrian government.

The White House said the activities were similar to those made before a
    suspected chemical attack in April.

Dozens died in the attack which prompted President Trump to order a strike
    against a Syrian air base.

    The Plot To Scapegoat Russia

    Published on 27 Jun 2017

One of the most amazing transformations of the last political campaign has been
the transformation of the “let’s give a chance” anti-war liberals into warmongering
neo-libs. But some on the left are pushing back. Dan Kovalik’s book is, as Oliver
Stone said, “a powerful contradiction to the present US narrative of the world”.
Who are really the masters of propaganda and fake news? Who is the bigger threat
to world peace? What did the Clintons, the IMF and other globalists do to Russia
after the collapse of the Soviet Union?
