Awesome clip. I posted it in the kitten thread, but it is so cool it should have its own. Cats are under appreciated for their loyalty to friends (usually reserved to dogs) -- although the do make you work for that friendship Cat saves his boy! Just plain cool!

    Cats are extremely psychic/sensitive.
They pretend not to care because it's easier to survive not caring.
But every once in a while the shell get cracked by a shocking incident like this.

    Hero cat!!!

My old cat loved nothing better than to attack dogs who were threatening, and ride bareback with claws dug in!!!!

The cat was amazing, but I'm shocked and troubled by the dogs behaviour because of the way it sought the boy out when it realized the boy alone - nasty behaviour by the dog, and not typical of most dogs. Awesome cat - my childhood cat was just like that - huge and fearsome and fearless!

Cats are the greatest. Clean, independent and this Momma cat shows, very protective of the young at the risk of her own life. Now that's what I call unconditional. Do you think the cat was there when the child was born? The child was 4 or 5? Wow, I'm loving it.

As a cat owner and dog owner, I've always taken care to not have a pit or dobie or rock around the children where they are left alone. Be it a neighbor's home or my own. Seen too many traumatized for life children. They are guard dogs. Loving to the ones who feed them, but smart enough to know when they're time w/owner is now shared with the new child. It's complicated, and people just don't take the added time to teach "never attack a child" to the dog. Letting it roam the streets as a guard dog, leaves the dog to "decide" what to attack or protect. The owner he'll protect, the child at eye height, if they lock eyes, is like a challenge to alpha's unless you teach the dog not to attack children. Children are unpredictable, small and sometimes carry sticks, swords, balls all of which a dog will look at and also make the decision, if the owner isn't present.

Good that it didn't turn our worse. There've been 4 attacks by pit bulls that killed a grandmother, two children, and a 5 year old was attacked with multiple stitches around the head and limbs.

People need to think twice about putting a natural guard dog in a home or leashless in the neighborhoods. Owners don't know that the only respect the dog has is for the owner who feeds it, everyone else "is a thought process in a guard dogs mind." Depending on how the owner has trained the dog, this can happen to anyone.

Oh yeah, the warrior kitty came out for real. I think in all the panic she leapt into action as any protective mother, and then realized after crossing the driveway, that that's enough chasing it off the property, and then came back to see the child. Great video of the changes going on right around us.

Good vs Evil/sneaky dog? Good wins.

That cat saved that kids life. If the cat had not intervened that dog would have ripped the boy apart. Amazing how the cat sussed to throw its whole body at the Dog to knock it out the way. Wow.

That Dog should have been put down immediately after the attack and a hero's statue erected for the cat.

The dog is being put down. The person who posted the video said so. Unfortunately, it is necessary. Clearly that dog is not suited to be around people. It's a shame because I bet it has terrible owners.

I have watched this video like 5 times since yesterday and it never loses the amazing WHOA moment for me. I love it! I have 2 cats and I have never understood why people say that cats don't love their owners etc. My cats love the crap out of me lol. I think they would do something like this if there were danger as well. That cat is a HERO for sure. I hope she is treated like a queen lol.

That dog definitely had a wild hair and an agenda. That cats instinct was badass and so impressive. He will be famous for a while I am sure. Reminds me of this.Is this what he sees in the mirror?

I'm all for 'pussy power' on my rounds I usually stop and
stroke the friendly cats and dogs to if they are amenable
enough, but there are a few head banging dogs to be wary of.

One in particular will run and head butt the door as I post
the mail and I have been bitten on the upper arm by an
alsatian not fun, and nipped by smaller dogs ( occupational hazard).

When dogs "REVERT" to their ancestral wolf persona they

will often attack small children or an old person who walks with a limp...

This is the idea of going after the weakest member of the herd of antelope or

deer....Biologists call this dog to wolf behavior "reversion"....

In my thread Curious Case of Criminal Last Names I think this reversion idea

    also applies to serial killers....

I had a family line of cats years ago that stood no nonsense from dogs. One, called "Basil Brush" loved seeing a big trailer load of sheep dogs ( rough badass working dogs). He would have those dogs off the trailer and abashed very quickly. Many of my former cats liked dogs but had to train them as to who was boss! Sometimes it took a few good "one/twos" with the claws before they learned, then harmony reigned. One year our Jack Russell bitch had puppies and our two ginger cats, Jack and the Fat Man, (wow, that's putting the age on it), took over the rearing of the puppies, apart from the feeding that is. They loved those pups. It was always hilarious seeing a mess of pups and cats all karked out on the couch together!

In our house at least it is usually "cat rules"!
