Default The shape of magnetic fields in the electric universe (Donald Scott on Birkeland currents)

Donald Scott presented an awesome talk at the Electric Universe 2014 conference (EU2014) on the shape of magnetic fields around plasma currents, with examples from planetary, galactic and inter-galactic phenomenon.

    Here's the talk:

Here's the Youtube blurb posted with this talk:
    Published on May 16, 2014

Dr. Donald Scott described his investigation of the inherent properties of Birkeland currents and subsequent discovery that they produce unexpectedly far-reaching magnetic fields in cosmic space. These fields collect matter and compress it into concentric hollow cylinders. They also produce a long-range attractive force on other such currents. Without involving mathematics, Scott describes the results of his analysis of the magnetic structures that are produced by, and that surround, Birkeland Currents. This work and its results gives new insight into the understanding of the electrical properties of space.

Dr. Scott earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He earned a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Massachusetts, and was a member of the faculty of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst from 1959 until his retirement in 1998. During that time he was the recipient of several good-teaching awards and authored numerous scientific papers and chapters. In 1987, the McGraw-Hill Book Company published his 730-page textbook, An Introduction To Circuit Analysis -- A Systems Approach. In addition, Dr. Scott published the classic, Electric Sky (2006), 256 pages of compelling material on the Electric Universe and plasma cosmology.
Dr. Scott's paper: Magnetic Fields of Birkeland Currents (pdf)

Here's the abstract from the above paper:
The fundamental vector calculus definition of a force-free, field-aligned, Birkeland current is expanded in cylindrical coordinates to obtain the partial differential equations (DEs) that yield the magnetic field created by such a current. The resulting equations are put into state- variable form and an Euler, step-wise, approximation incorporating a 4-th order Runge-Kutta algorithm is applied. In single-variable form, the DEs are identified as Bessel equations. J-sub0(r) and J-sub1(r) Bessel function solutions confirm the Euler results thus yielding closed form solutions for both the linking (azimuthal) and collinear (axial) components of the force-free field. Results show that both of these magnetic components reverse their directions and vary in magnitude in a way that aids the formation of concentric cylindrical shells of matter as has been observed in Marklund convection. Another result is the finding that magnetic fields extend relatively farther from Birkeland currents than they would from a straight-line current. They slowly decay as 1 over square root of r for large r.
Here's a glimpse at the sort of structures and fields formed in this manner:

Here's the key image from his paper (see pdf link above). I couldn't find the image already posted on the web, so had to take a screen shot from the paper.
Click on the above image for a higher resolution version.

    Observe:
    • How the two vector components of the magnetic field oscillate as the radial distance from the current increases
    • How that variation of the two components is 45 degrees out of phase
    • How the total of the two components falls off as one over the square root (SQRT) of the radius
    • That rate of falling off is quite slow, so the strength of such fields extends unusually far out from the current.

One more thought came to my mind that Donald Scott didn't mention in his EU2014 talk.

Just as the oscillating variation of these fields as one extends outward from the current explains celestial formations and in particular the placement of planetary orbits, so it might well be that they explain the placement of electron shells in atomic structures (which are the foundation for chemistry, biology and life.)

I suspect that a common etheric physics underlies all this.

Based on the information , one can see how our universe could have been formed , slowly , and perfectly with electricity dancing with particles and magnetic waves until it reaches a tipping point ... then imagine plasma or nebula or tiny particles being introduced into the equation, along with the energy of fusion stars ... all things are possible ... not magic , just real science ... hats off to the gentleman , they are on the right road to bringing humanity into a new era of understanding space and energy ...

... along with the energy of fusion stars ...
Ghostrider: Just a small expansion on this for clarity sake, since it relates to an Electric/Plasma Universe (EU) theory that deserves differentiation from the popular theory of stars ... the concept of "fusion stars" (the traditional thermonuclear model, first proposed by Sir Arthur Eddington) is not part of the EU model.

Instead, the supported "Electric Star" model says that, due to electrical energy "flowing into a star" from its "electrified environment", that star, any star, being a "plasma focus point" (originally beginning as a z-pinch instability in a Birkeland current), will have any possible nuclear fusion activity taking place above the star's photosphere in its double layer (DL) barrier. Among the many other questions that the thermonuclear model cannot answer, this particular feature is what accounts for the low neutrino count we observe.

Read Don Scott's book "The Electric Sky" for a more comprehensive description. I'm afraid it seems to be unavailable as a free e-book.

Quote Professor Emeritus of the Alfvén Laboratory in Sweden, Carl-Gunne Fälthammar wrote:[6] "A reason why Birkeland currents are particularly interesting is that, in the plasma forced to carry them, they cause a number of plasma physical processes to occur (waves, instabilities, fine structure formation). These in turn lead to consequences such as acceleration of charged particles, both positive and negative, and element separation (such as preferential ejection of oxygen ions). Both of these classes of phenomena should have a general astrophysical interest far beyond that of understanding the space environment of our own Earth."
This bit from Wikipedia got me all excited because it ties in with Judy Wood, Hutchison Effect, that silly Ventura show with Fred Bell --
they were talking about this being possible on a smaller scale --

    the Bell worked probably due to some simulation of this (nazi bell lol), flying saucers (using planetary model of gravity affectation with internal power source instead);
it's probable that so called 'death rays' utilize this strange tech --

from the tiniest gold atoms to the biggest skyscraper core, to the most massive solid planet/star etc. around,
radio waves and other odd phenomena of nature seem to call the shots and make everything dance at the whim of electricity!

    @@

p.s. thank you Paul, lol it takes a lot to excite me when it's just science

I am going through these videos. Any physicists please correct me.
What they are doing is suspending steel bowls with holes at the top in a plasma chamber.

The chamber contains a suitable gas - like argon, that glows when ionised between two electrodes at the top and bottom.

The steel bowls are magnetised positive and negative. The shape allows for a toroidal magnetic field-like a bar magnet, but without the bar.

The purpose is to use the light emitted by the plasma to reveal what happens inside a toroid field, and the results are amazing.

You get formations such as a spinning galactic disc, with perpendicular high speed jets. They have been able to simulate a lot of the amazing phenomena we observe but struggle to understand in the macrocosm and at the particle level.

Observations suggest that fundamental particles are magnetic toroids.
They state that BLACK HOLES, DARK MATTER, and DARK ENERGY are false theories, and we do not need them to model what we see out there!
