I've heard that HyBrasil was an Island or Islands off the coast of Ireland where the ancient Avalon was. I would love to know more. I guess I should go google it!

I think I first heard of Hy Brasil from Arthur C Clarke
mysterious world TV series. Later Graham Hancock
mentions it in the clip below , where he speculates
that the island did exist 12000 years ago before the
last ice age thawed and sea levels rose.

This is Graham and David Wilcock talking about
    ancient maps and Hy Brasil......

Myths of Hy Brasil - Rendlesham forest

Hy Brasil is a mysterious, enchanted island, hidden in fog somewhere off the
coast of Ireland. It reveals itself to human eye and ear just one day every
seven years. This specially commissioned work by sound artist Chris Watson
(BBC TV's award-winning Frozen Planet), brings that day on Hy Brasil to life
    in an immersive sound installation.

Hy Brasil is composed of compelling wildlife sounds from around the world,
drawing visitors deep into the haunting song of seals and the awe-inspiring
shrieks of thousands of Manx shearwaters. With glorious ambi-sonic sound
and beautiful lighting, lose yourself in the strange and magical world of Hy Brasil.

Hy'Brasil: A Portal to Another World?

    Published on 25 May 2014

The mythical island of Hy'Brasil and it's relation to the Rendlesham forest UFO encounter.

Is the ancient mythical island of Hy'Brasil a portal for otherworldly beings?

Top 5 Lost Worlds of Time http://youtu.be/p4VWBInP1oA

Hy'Brasil is very similar to the lost city of Atlantis -- the key difference being that
Hy'Brasil actually has many first person accounts written about it. In addition,
many of these accounts cause Hy'Brasil to be even more mysterious than Atlantis.

In tales of folklore, Hy'Brasil's name is derived from the word Breasal,
meaning "The High King Of the World."

According to legend, Hy'Brasil appears only once every seven years. It is
supposedly shrouded by a thick fog or covered by the ocean in some way.

In 1674, a man by the name of Captain John Nisbet claimed he spotted the island
on his voyage from France to Ireland. Strangely, the captain said the island's
inhabitants were large black rabbits and a mysterious magician whom lived in a
    large stone castle completely alone.

Other adventurers have noted highly advanced culture that uses some form of
beats or music to move large objects along with golden roofs and domes around
    the island.

Interestingly, Hy'Brasil actually appears on several older maps off the east coast of
Ireland from 1375 to 1595 . Due to the lack of technology, the island seems to
appear in several different places. Still, explorers found something, and consistently
did so as referenced by these maps.

But the Hy'Brasil mystery only deepens....

In a famous UFO encounter known as the "Rendleshem Forest Incident" a
mysterious craft lands outside of a US military base in the UK. A man by the Jim
Penniston happens to touch this craft and immediately receives 16 pages of binary
code burned directly into his mind.

Jim writes down the code the next day and decades later has it translated.

The code translates into "Exploration of Humanity 666 8100", it lists very specific
coordinates of Hy'Brasil island, says "Continuous for Planetary
    Advancement," "Fourth Coordinate Continuous".

Below that the message then lists the coordinates of several ancient sites such as
    the pyramids of giza.

At the bottom it ends with says "EYES OF YOUR EYES."
ORIGIN, lists the coordinates of Hy Brasil again.

Then says the ORIGIN year is 8100.

Just why does this mysterious message list the coordinates of Hy'Brasil? What
really is the island Hy'Brasil and why is there so much emphasis placed on it in the message?

    I-BRASÍL
There's sorrow on the wind, my grief, there's
    sorrow on the wind,
    Old and grey I
I hear it whispering, calling, where the last stars touch
    the sea,
Where the cloud creeps down the hill, and the leaf
    shakes on the tree,
There's sorrow on the wind and it's calling low to me
Come away ! Come away !
There's sorrow in the world, O wind, there's sorrow in
    my heart
    Night and day :
So why should I not listen to the song you sing to me ?
The hill cloud falls away in rain, the leaf whirls from
    the tree,
And peace may live in I-Brasíl where the last stars
    touch the sea
    Far away, far away.

How to find Hy-Brasil. Isn't that the real question?

What is it? Is it an Island or an Ideal?

For the Pagan Celts it was the Summerlands off the West Coast of Ireland, the equivalent of Heaven.

For Voyagers it was a destination of Gold and riches beyond belief, a land of milk and honey.

In the ancient stories it was the land of Tír Na Nog (the land of the forever young).

Growing up here in Ireland the Catholic church and the State are in charge. They own the land on which the Schools, Hospitals and Churches are built and they make the rules. Nothing else got a look in. Old stories were suppressed, shushed and the only way you could hear ancient history was through Storytelling, poetry and song.
Everyone was extraordinarily religious, conservative and austerity was inflicted left right and centre.

In order to find out anything that was actually Irish and not Roman or English, I had to go to the Ancient Wisdom Keepers. The Druids.
The old stories of Ireland told by the ancient books, is that Ireland was always here, there were a series of invasions of different types of people. (ref: The Book of invasions)
They came from across the waters during and after the Flood.

They brought their new ideas and gifts from their Gods.
Falias - The Stone of Destiny
Murias - The Cauldron of Plenty
Gorias - The Sword of Nuada
Finias - The Spear of Lugh

Now, I could go on, but after years of research I believe Jim Pennistons message from that night was a reminder of how to get a form of Heaven back on Earth. That message came from a future "us" in 8100.

Project Avalon is the closest I have come to in swimming for that Island.

A nice piece on Ancient Origins:
Hy-Brasil: The Legendary Phantom Island of Ireland

    Bryan Hill

Hy-Brasil was an island which appeared on ancient maps as early as 1325 and into the 1800s. On most maps, it was located roughly 321km (200 miles) off the west coast of Ireland in the North Atlantic Ocean. One of the most distinctive geographical features of Hy-Brasil on those maps is that it often appears as a circle with a channel (or river) running east to west across the diameter. Stories about the island have circulated throughout Europe for centuries with tales that it was the promised land of saints or a paradise where an advanced civilization lived. In Irish myth, it was said to be clouded in mist except for one day every seven years when it became visible but still could not be reached.

    Hy-Brasil on a map from 1325 (Ocultoreveladoaverdade)

The Many Names of the Mysterious Island

Hy-Brasil (also called Hy-Breasal, Hy-Brazil, Hy-Breasil, Brazir) is derived from the name Breasal meaning the High King of the world in Celtic history. It was noted on maps as early as 1325, by the Genoese cartographer Angelino Dulcert where it was identified as “Bracile.” It later appeared in the Catalan Atlas in 1375, which placed it as two separate islands with the same name, “Illa de brasil”.

In 1436, it showed up as “Sola De Brasil” in the Venetian map by cartographer Andrea Bianco. Attached to one of the larger islands of a group in the Atlantic, this was identified for a time with the Mater Island. It would show up again in 1595 on the Ortelius Map of Europe and Europa Mercator Map and occasionally show up in slightly different locations on different maps over time.

Hy-Brasil (here simply Brasil), close-up of the Ortelius Map of Europe

    Expeditions in Search of Hy-Brasil

In 1480, John Jay Jr. departed from Bristol, England on a journey to find the fabled island only to come back empty handed after spending two months at sea. In 1481, two more ships, the Trinity and the George, departed from Bristol on an expedition to find Hy-Brasil with no success either.

Interestingly, in 1497, Spanish diplomat Pedro de Ayala reported to the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, that John Cabot (the first European to visit North America since the Vikings) had “discovered in the past by the men from Bristol who found Brasil.” This implied someone from one of the Bristol expeditions had actually managed to find it.

The Nautical chart of Western Europe (1473) shows Hy-Brasil in a circular shape (British Library)

Nearly two centuries later Scottish sea captain, John Nisbet, claimed to have spotted Hy-Brasil on his voyage from France to Ireland in 1674. He is said to have sent a party of four ashore where the sailors spent the entire day on the island.

Large Black Rabbits and a Mysterious Magician

There, they claim to have met a wise old man who provided them with gold and silver. Strangely, the captain said the island was inhabited by large black rabbits and a mysterious magician who lived in a large stone castle by himself. A follow up expedition was led by captain Alexander Johnson who also claimed to have found Hy-Brasil, confirming Nisbet’s findings.

In the following years, Hy-Brasil would retreat into anonymity. As attempts to find it failed again, map-makers started leaving it off most nautical charts. When it was last observed on a map in 1865, it was simply noted as “Brazil rock.”

The last documented sighting of Hy-Brasil was made in 1872 by Robert O’Flaherty and T.J. Westropp. Westropp claimed to have visited the island on three previous occasions and was so captivated by it that he brought his family with him to see it in person. There, they all witnessed it appear out of nowhere only to see it vanish again before their very eyes.

    Myths and Legends About Hy-Brasil

There are many myths and legends surrounding Hy-Brasil. In some of them, the island is the home of the gods of Irish lore. In others, it is inhabited by priests or monks rumored to hold ancient knowledge which allowed them to create an advanced civilization. Some think that St. Brendan's famous voyage to find the “Promised Land” may have been Hy-Brasil.

An artistic representation of what Hy-Brasil may have looked like

In one famous UFO encounter, known as the Rendlesham Forest incident, a strange craft is reported to have landed outside a U.S. military base in the U.K. Sergeant Jim Penniston claims to have touched this craft and telepathically receive 16 pages of binary code into his mind. He wrote down the code the next day and had it translated decades later. The code was said to list very specific coordinates of Hy-Brasil and listed the location where ancient cartographers had it mapped. The message also listed the coordinates of several other ancient sites around the world such as the Pyramids at Giza and Nazca Lines. At the very bottom of the message, coordinates of Hy-Brasil were listed again along with an origin year of 8100.

Binary Code showing the coordinates of Hy-Brasil and other locations (Tribelightstation)

    Hy-Brasil as Ireland's Atlantis

While Atlantis may be the most famous lost civilization, Hy-Brasil is better documented and has more eyewitness accounts behind it.

The legend could be a story that was passed down through generations from the end of the last Ice Age when sea levels were lower. For example, the so-called Porcupine Bank, discovered in 1862, appears to have been an island at some point in time. Located about 193 km (120 miles) west of Ireland, it is a shoal exposed at extreme low tide and where an 1830 chart had ‘Brazil Rock’ located. The bank’s highest point is around 200 meters (656 feet) below sea level and was sunk either due to a catastrophe or rising sea levels.

Porcupine Bank and Seabight, bathemetry of the Northeast Atlantic

Today, no such island called Hy-Brasil exists on any maps or nautical charts and no historical documents were ever recorded to indicate what happened to it. Mainstream historians simply consider it a case of mistaken identity. Nevertheless, it is a peculiar riddle in history that is likely to be debated and discussed into the future.

While visiting Portugal and Spain I came across a legend that they could see a magical island appear occasionally. It was suggested that through some trick of atmospherics and water vapour a mirage/projection of Ireland could be seen. There are areas in Spain where Irish Gaelic is written and purportedly was spoken The area is called Galacia. I am 1/2 Irish and considered to be "black" Irish. I look Spanish/Italian/Basque. I tan exceeding well although most of my cousins will blister in any decent sunlight.

It is possible that Ireland actually is Hy-Brasil and the legends orignated elsewhere. Irish legends said they are also part of the Tuath Da Danann ( the gods/ ancients with high technology) and that is where the red heads came from.

    https://www.thelocal.es/20140722/anc...ia-irish-roots

DNA Suggests the Irish are a mixutre of Southern Europeans, Middle East and Eastern European, Basque DNA is quite strong and they are a total enigma.

    https://owlcation.com/stem/Irish-Blood-Genetic-Identity

This is mirrored in genetic studies which have compared DNA analysis with Irish surnames. Many surnames in Irish are Gaelic surnames, suggesting that the holder of the surname is a descendant of people who lived in Ireland long before the English conquests of the Middle Ages. Men with Gaelic surnames, showed the highest incidences of Haplogroup 1 (or Rb1) gene. This means that those Irish whose ancestors pre-date English conquest of the island are descendants (in the male line) of people who probably migrated west across Europe, as far as Ireland in the north and Spain in the south.
Some scholars even argue that the Iberian peninsula (modern-day Spain and Portugal) was once heavily populated by Celtiberians who spoke at now-extinct Celtic language. They believe some of these people moved northwards along the Atlantic coast bringing Celtic language and culture to Ireland and Britain, as well as France. Although the evidence in not conclusive, the findings on the similarities between Irish and Iberian DNA provides some support for this theory.
