Every Post You Make (We're The NSA)

Hello all,

As many of you found out in a "post your profession" thread started a few weeks back, one of the many things I'm involved in isn a comedy group called Duck Logic Comedy.

In light of the information that was "leaked" by Ed Snowden, and the California Senate's relatively recent 29-1 vote to ban material support, participation or assistance to the NSA, we thought it was time for a new Duck Logic Comedy ditty.

I thought since many of you enjoyed our parody song "Every Post You Make (We're The NSA)" in audio form, I would share the video that's just been released with you as well.

After reading the forum guidelines I felt like this would be OK since I'm not selling anything, just sharing what I feel is a fun way to highlight the issues surrounding the NSA (and the TSA, and all the _SAs.)

But if this is inappropriate or in the wrong area of the forum I ask the admins to please remove it or place in the proper area.

And if it is inappropriate, I apologize in advance.

It is interesting to look at the original song that this parody is taken from, Every breath you take appropriately from the album 'synchronicity' by the band The Police

The lyrics are the words of a sinister, controlling character, who is watching "every breath you take; every move you make".

"I woke up in the middle of the night with that line in my head, sat down at the piano and had written it in half an hour. The tune itself is generic, an aggregate of hundreds of others, but the words are interesting. It sounds like a comforting love song. I didn't realize at the time how sinister it is. I think I was thinking of Big Brother, surveillance and control."

Sting later said he was disconcerted by how many people think the song is more positive than it is. He insists it's about the obsession with a lost lover, and the jealousy and surveillance that follow. "One couple told me 'Oh we love that song; it was the main song played at our wedding!' I thought, 'Well, good luck.'" When asked why he appears angry in the music video Sting told BBC Radio 2, "I think the song is very, very sinister and ugly and people have actually misinterpreted it as being a gentle little love song, when it's quite the opposite.

Wow Dorjezigzag, I never saw that quote before, but that's how I've always felt about this song.

People I know also think it's a gentle love song and I never could understand that. Hence our "take" on it. I guess we're not that far off. ;-) Thanks!

I'm just kind of thinking why Sting would be so surprised that people would misinterpret it. The song itself feels like a ballad. Often, our brains just switch off and we don't hear the words, just the melody. Sting ought not to have made it feel so nice lol.

Like all good business, the NSA & GCHQ are always listening to their customers!! Courtesy of our reptilian friends and cabal agents whose cunning clever plans we have to admire. Fortunately we are slowly catching them up and seeing through the evil.

Creating a society of mistrust and false threats is part of their psychological agenda to manipulate and control us all through fear and our own ignorance.
