Strong Geomagnetic storm will hit Earth soon

    Space Weather Message Code: ALTK07
    Serial Number: 81
    Issue Time: 2010 Apr 05 0956 UTC

    ALERT: Geomagnetic K-index of 7
    Threshold Reached: 2010 Apr 05 0955 UTC
    Synoptic Period: 0900-1200 UTC
    Station: Boulder
    Active Warning: No
    NOAA Scale: G3 - Strong

    G3 ~ Strong
Power systems: voltage corrections may be required, false alarms triggered on some protection devices.

Spacecraft operations: surface charging may occur on satellite components, drag may increase on low-Earth-orbit satellites, and corrections may be needed for orientation problems.

Other systems: intermittent satellite navigation and low-frequency radio navigation problems may occur, HF radio may be intermittent, and aurora has been seen as low as Illinois and Oregon (typically 50° geomagnetic lat.)**.
    Kp = 7
200 per cycle ~ (130 days per cycle)

**** STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM IN PROGRESS ****

A geomagnetic storm began at 05:55 AM EST Monday, April 5, 2010. Space
weather storm levels reached Strong (G3) levels on the Geomagnetic
Storms Space Weather Scale. The source of the storming is an
Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejection associated with a weak solar flare
that occurred in Active Region 1059 on April 3 at 05:54 AM EST. This
is expected to be an isolated storm that should subside quickly. Other
than the flare and CME erupting on April 3, this active region has not
produced any significant activity. Systems that can be affected
include electric power systems, spacecraft operations, high-frequency
communications, GPS, and other navigation systems.

Data used to provide space weather services are contributed by NOAA,
USAF, NASA, NSF, USGS, the International Space Environment Services
and other observatories, universities, and institutions. More

Interesting paper. This is from the 1978 scientific paper provided by the NASA Astrophysics Data System entitled, "Is the Solar System Entering a Nearby Interstellar Cloud?"

    Page 599, Part VI
    http://articles.adsabs.harvard.edu/f...pJ...223..589V

..."The presence of a nearby cloud might also affect the physical conditions inside the solar system...

...an encounter with a cloud might not only affect nuetrino flux release from the Sun but also have some drastic influence on the terrestrial climate in the next 10,000 years...

...The observations and analyses mentioned here suggest the presence of a very close interstellar cloud which should encounter the solar system in the "near" future. However, the complexity of the interstellar medium is not completely understood, it would not be surprising if the situation is far more complicated than indicated in this paper."

This is almost an exact quote from the 1978 article, "Their strong magnetic fields could compress the heliosphere even more than it is compressed now," according to NASA. "Additional compression could allow more cosmic rays to reach the inner solar system, possibly affecting terrestrial climate and the ability of astronauts to travel safely through space."

Quote During the coming months and years, CERN scientists expect the project to lift the veil on some of the mysteries of the cosmos...
Quote Electro-Magnetic Earthquake Bursts and Critical Rupture of Peroxy Bond Networks in Rocks

We propose a mechanism for the low frequency electromagnetic emissions and other electromagnetic phenomena which have been associated with earthquakes. The mechanism combines the critical earthquake concept and the concept of crust acting as a charging electric battery under increasing stress. The electric charges are released by activation of dormant charge carriers in the oxygen anion sublattice, called peroxy bonds or positive hole pairs (PHP), where a PHP represents an O3XOOYO3 with XY=Si4+Al3+, i.e. an O− in a matrix of O2− of silicates. We propose that PHP are activated by plastic deformations during the slow cooperative build-up of stress and the increasingly correlated damage culminating in a large ``critical'' earthquake. Recent laboratory experiments indeed show that stressed rocks form electric batteries which can release their charge when a conducting path closes the equivalent electric circuit. We conjecture that the intermittent and erratic occurrences of EM signals are a consequence of the progressive build-up of the battery charges in the Earth crust and their erratic release when crack networks are percolating throughout the stressed rock volumes, providing a conductive pathway for the battery currents to discharge. EM signals are thus expected close to the rupture, either slightly before or after, that is, when percolation is most favored.

The geomagnetic seems to be connected with the increase in quakes.

Guess these earth changes are happening now, really now, just not all at once.

Quote A sharp gust of solar wind hit Earth's magnetosphere on April 5th at approximately 0800 UT and sparked the strongest geomagnetic storm of the year (Kindex=7). Although the storm is subsiding now, it is not over. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras.

Not if you put a tin foil hat on it.

In fact cover your whole room in the stuff - It really works.

From what I understand you are supposed to put valuable electronic and magnetic equipment in a metal lined box without having the metal touching the equipment itself . Preferably, ground the box as well to the earth.

    or this

I have a metal safe that I have insulated inside. Tested it by putting my phone inside but it still gets a signal

Hey anyone think an old or existing microwave oven will insulate anything put into it, if it keeps radiation in would it keep it out too?

I've read elsewhere it could work so I tested it with my mobile phone and it wasn't getting signal. I am not sure about radiation of higher frequency than microwaves though.

Silverfoil and cotton. Roll electronic equipment in it (capacitator). Put it in a metal box. GROUND the metal box (central heating for example IF grounded well, groundwater, lake).

Better, dig a hole in the ground and put your metal box in the ground.

Some (old)er)) dieselengines can be ressurected. Bypass the starterrelais and glow for 10-15 seconds. Use the relaiscable from the starterengine and put it on the + of the battery. Make sure the key is in startingposition and put the gearbox in free, otherwise you will destruct yourself....

If the battery is dead you can try the Russian way. Build a fire under your car and heat it up. Once it is hot, start pushing the car till you have some speed and then put it in gear.......

If you have a new(er) car it wont start no more. But if you ground it well you can use it as a faradaycage..........

It is all explained in a Camelot interview, I forgot which one.....

Yes, a microwave is a excellent faradaycage, build to keep radiation inside. When grounded well, yellow/green cable overhere, you can use it to put in small stuff......

No tinfoil hats, they will fry your brain....

If you can sit at a computer and read this message the storm was not that strong. However be aware anything can happen and this will depend on what area the sun is shining at the moment. From what I understand the part (to fear) that can fry anything is like a vapor which if you have seen northern lights imagine that being so strong it breaks into the dirt part of our planet. Wear your hat!! This could hurt more than just your ipod.

I my own self am not putting any energy into getting anything that runs on the "grid". Nothing is going to work for a long time after that hits. There is not a untiliy company on the earth that has the abilty to cope with all the wires frying from what I understand. So just be ready to do other stuff. You will not have time to sit at a comptuer if you have to figure out where you can carry your water from.
Remember: Our soul was given a gift to live life here now at this time. We must never give up, there is more to do.
