    Default Gratitude

Gratitude is a high spiritual realm of awareness and recognition of all that is. It is among the most powerful energies in the universe together with compassion and love.

I would like to dedicate this thread to learning the importance of Gratitude.
Anything you can share: thoughts, stories, articles, quotes, affirmations and study of 'Gratitude' and its energies, i would be grateful for
    Thank you.

The concept of gratitude was not something I grew up with. And although I became aware of the importance of gratitude many years ago, somehow I never expressed gratitude except when something exceptionally beneficial happened to me. I told myself I should express gratitude more often but at the end of the day, I would end up forgetting what I should be grateful for that day.

Last Christmas a friend gifted me a "Gratitude Diary". This is an appointment book like any other except one has to find something to be grateful for and write it in the agenda every day.

So I have been expressing gratitude in written form every day since January 1st this year. Sometimes, when days are especially trying and frustrating, it seems that I don't have much to be grateful for. But I still have to find something because I've committed to do so.

So on those days when nothing seems to go right, I express gratitude for the things I take for granted like my home, my bed, my car, my eyes, my hands, my feet, my speech, my faculties, my loved ones, my friends, and everything which is functional and good.

I have not missed a single day since January 1st, and I look forward to ending my day with writing down something I am grateful for.

Right now I'm grateful for this new habit of gratitude.

With love and gratitude for this thread.

Thanks for the reminder of how important gratitude is, Peace & Love. We are so conditioned to believe that we lack that which would make us happy - a new phone, a better partner, a dream holiday - but none of these external things will satisfy our heart.

It's love, openness, and a sense of interdependence and connectedness that bring satisfaction and a sense of well being - and gratitude is the key to expanding our consciousness beyond fear and self absorption.

As Pablo Neruda said, "You can cut all the flowers but you can't stop the spring from arriving"…there are miracles every day, if only we can recognise them.

Without gratitude, the sorrows that are an integral part of life would be unbearable.

PS Daughter ofTime - I love the idea of a Gratitude Diary

Oh gratitude!!! Gratitude is key to manifesting what you want!

When you can find something to be grateful for in each moment there is more to be grateful for in the next moment.

Instead of night time "prayers" my daughters and I would say our "thank you's" every night... the 3 of us would each take turns and it would go something like this...

thank you day, thank you food, thank you air, thank you hands, thank you eyes, thank you animals, thank you insects, thank you ocean, thank you wind, thank you body, thank you plants, thank you house, thank you....

And then after we went through our nightly list we would say "Thank you world for everything, thank you universe for everything!!!"

I personally go to gratitude whenever I want to move my emotions to a higher vibrating place. I switch my thoughts to gratitude and like magic my vibration gets lighter.

I say thank you all day long...

I am so very grateful to us all!! Thank you!!!

Thank you so much my friends! I enjoy reading your words so much! Its so beautiful!
Since All That Is -> is Aware.
A person that you are thankful for immediately responds with joy for the words 'thanks' so as every 'thing' else in our universe, since all is Aware, saying thank you to trees, rocks, air, water All That Is Really in Existence immediately responds to us back with joy
I found an online Gratitude Journal http://thankfulfor.com/ (Source: http://www.unstuck.com/gratitude.html )

Well this new thread is a welcome comfort - Last night I watched a movie called "Peace, Love and Misunderstanding" about a grandmother, mother and her two kids.
It reflected how perspectives are shaped culturally and the divides perhaps necessary to evolution. The setting is the town of Woodstock where the spirit of the 60s remains live and well where the prodigal daughter, a cynical and somewhat embittered daughter returns to her hippie mom for retreat after her husbands' announcement that he wants divorce. The redemption in it for me was to see the deeply soulful nature of this daughter whom at first glance the initial depiction of her character was self indulgent and dark. Jane Fonda plays the grandmother who breathes joy and gratitude and ohhhhh her beautiful long curly hair!!

Anyway just this morning I received a scathing letter from my daughter -we too are sort of like oil and water but underneath all the drama gratitude is like the northern star always pointing me which way to set my gaze for if there be any virtue...see that!
