guided bomb on a “heavy weapon position” and using an anti-tank missile to take out a

‘The US-led military operation against the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS)
militants has likely so far cost between $780 and $930 million, according to an
estimate by Washington-based think tank specializing in defense issues.

The estimate is part of a report attempting to forecast how much the operation
might cost in the future. It was published on Monday by the Center for Strategic
and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA), that’s influential with the US Department of
Defense.’

‘A shopkeeper facing energy bills of £5,000 hanged himself just moments after British
Gas staff arrived at his business to cut off the electricity supply.

Anthony Waters, 48, was serving customers at his family run mini market when three
workmen and “put him on the spot” with a warrant saying his shop was going to be ”de-
energised”

He desperately promised that he could raise £1,000, but one of the three gasmen said it
was not enough. He then plunged the store into darkness despite threats from Mr
Waters that he would commit suicide.’

A short time later, as the workmen called police from outside to alert them to Mr
Waters' distress, he closed the shop - which has been trading for 45 years - and hanged
himself in a stock room.

Today the energy giant, whose owner Centrica recorded profits of £1bn this year and
uses the advertising slogan: ''Looking after your world'', was condemned by Mr Waters'
family after a coroner ruled his suicide was triggered by him being ''put on the spot'' by
company staff.
