Sweet! I didn't even know they were making a movie of it! If they hold true to the book, it should be excellent!

    Book summary and analysis:

Bless you for trying: not available in Canada. I read the book years ago and was so looking forward to viewing it. Will try to get it on DVD.

Thanks, Shezbeth, for the "summary and analysis". I too hope that the movie follows the book closely. I was not aware then about what I know now so there should be even more layers of meaning to ponder now.

Interesting movie. Never would like to have to experience that type of boring life without free will and lack of exitement. I guess it helps us realise why we choose to come here and experience what this world has to offer.

I fell in love with the actual Giver (Jeff Bridges).

For me this film reminds me of Divergent, The Matrix, Under the Dome by Stephen King, and probably few other films and books.
Visually I found it very well done, simple, strong and coherent.

    Just finished watching the film...
After seeing this movie, it shows how the bond of sharing the human experience with one another, being that we are all one, can outweigh any opposition that is thrown our way. Also, how we too are finding the truth from those who have kept us in bondage of our definitive heritages, to keep their lives within fixed limited parameters, perpetuating falsehoods told by those who were of guardianship of the youth and old.

The holding on to untruths taught to be truths, medication used as a norm for conditioning, which only allowed for false perceptions of emotions, and dampered any true feelings. Not being allowed to say how one feels in the moment, not to question authority, never lie, just as one would walk through life if one were to have a labotomy.

The conclusion in the end is the most powerful thing in the movie, which shows the compassion of perseverence of the binding emotion of love, and hope, and how it had pierced through to break all of those chains, by doing what was right in the name of the spirit of life itself.

Jeff Bridges is in it! Great, I like his work. Especially in Kpax he did an amazing job acting a psychiatrist... and there even seems to be no excessive violence in this film.

Bump. Just watched. The message I got from this very well done film, is that this scenario is EXACTLY what TPTB would like to accomplish. The removal of Love and emotions from the human race via vaccines and psychotronic drugs. Zombie apocalypse anyone???

They are presenting to us through television that zombies are a bunch of bloody dead people walking around, however the reality is, the simple removal of human emotion and the removal of Love (and family values) from our society. And if you want to be a free thinker/awake/black sheep, then you will be hunted down and be removed/lost forever.

This film connected another very important dot. Same type message as Divergent also well done and available on putlocker for free.
